    Nick Blough and I served together in the navy. Literally one of my closest friends on the planet. Dude is cool as a cucumber no matter how stressful it gets. He’s also an absolutely crack shot. Legend!

    I'm glad to finally hear someone making the point of stability when using a weapon mounted LRF. The ease of use and accuracy that comes along with it makes it a great option in compared to a handheld that would need to be mounted to a tripod to achieve the same stability.

    A GeoBallistics episode would be very nice. You guys talk about the features that I haven’t seen anywhere else like the impact being able to drop pins. I would like to see what features I’m missing on the app.
    Ps got mine mounted last night. Haven’t enjoyed an accessory this much probably ever.

    looking amazing... but if I can, would be amazing if you can allow customers to run Hornady 4Dof as the solver, married either internally (uploaded) with your sensors, or allow the data collected by device, to send to 4Dof on phone and have 4Dof send answer / solution back to device.

      If you're using a clip-on, the Impact will work with it as long as you use a diving board high enough to clear it. With a few of the really tall clip-ons this could be a serious issue and it would probably make sense to side mount the Impact. I've heard that Spuhr diving boards can be side mounted but you'd need to verify that.

    For ELR i think this is great but NOT for hunting in my state Idaho and a few others it is a no no to have it mounted to your gun can it be used stand alone? You need to make a mount for Bino's and then you can mount the bino's to a tripod or use them off hand.

    Question for Vortex - why don't you make any fixed magnification scopes? A nice fixed power 6x or 10x scope would be pretty neat.

    Really wish you guys would make a rangefinder only version of this device. I don't need to pay for yet another device that does ballistics calculations when I already have a device that does that.

    I had watched a youtube video where someone experienced cold conditions resulting in significant display freeze. Can you gentlemen confirm if A) you have tested in cold conditions ( as low as -20 F ), and B) if you have experienced this as such? Canadian predator hunter here, hunt in conditions as low as -30 C often ( good dog responses at those temps :) ) Thanks!

    I hunt really close to the us Mexico border. It wasn't a deer that danced a little red dot on my dad's chest a few years ago. It ain't the prairie dogs I'm concerned about having nods. When can we expect to see this but with a laser invisible to nods?

    I think you folks have missed the boat completely. You MUST be able to see what surface your laser rangefinder is ranging on or to. Did it range the grass in front of the target which is behind a knoll? Did you get it between the gap in the rocks? With out having the laser integrated into the optic your going to introduce the wrong distance and miss. The only good thing I saw was being able to drop a pin. Put that feature in your binoculars and call it a day.

    • @geerts016
      @geerts016 11 місяців тому +1

      I don’t understand your comment. I’ve got a Spuhr with a gen iii and the -.8 mils mark on the vertical stadia is a better aiming point then any range finder I’ve looked through.

    • @marksmith4627
      @marksmith4627 11 місяців тому +1

      I agree, virtually all laser rangefinders get fooled by grass or other minor aberrations in the line of sight picture while looking at the intended target.
      I also am having a little apprehension as to how well this could stay in alignment with the scope at extreme long distances since the Impact 4000 is only aligned with the scope at 100 yards. At long distance, the internal crosshairs are moving to align the scope to be on target, but the scope/Impact 4000 alignment does not change as this is always a fixed position. I realize that you input the exact dimension from center line of the laser to the centerline of your guns bore while sighting in, but the internals of the scope are moving while sighting at distance.

    • @noahbthesavagegardener5146
      @noahbthesavagegardener5146 9 місяців тому

      The idea is that you set the ranging laser from the Impact to be parallel to the aimpoint of the scope at a distance of, say, 100 yards. To range a target, you need to know the laser is hitting it. One way to do that is to dial the scope back to 100 yards each time, then dial in for the measured distance. Or, if you prefer, you can leave your zero alone and use holds for each shot. @@marksmith4627

    • @dobrzpe
      @dobrzpe 8 місяців тому

      @@marksmith4627 thats why they said you MUST return to your scopes zero again for it to be accurate... (if you dialed for a previous shot)
