- Harvesting Soybeans near Frankfort Indiana. In this video I am out in the field with a family farm near Frankfort Indiana as they harvest their 2021 soybean crop using their Case IH 8250 combine with a MacDon FD 140 head equipment with a Crary Wind System and their John Deere S660 combine also with a MacDon FD140 draper head. Running beside the combine is their John Deere 8310Rt tractor pulling a J&M X1112 grain cart.
These vids are my happy place, something about it that appeals to my soul, I think I've been there before in a past life bevause I absolutely love farming, support our farmers! Good video Mike

I remember setting up that 8250 when it was new.
That 16 row corn head fills that grain tank up fast.

Mike, I'm seeing more and more of the Versatile tractors in the field. It's great to see their comeback as for a while, I didn't see many. I wanted to ask about the versatile combine. I have yet to see one and was wondering if the market is getting stronger. From the looks of things, versatile has a good line of machines, just wondered about the combine. love to see one in action. Thanks Mike.
The Versatile combine is no longer available in North America. They were a decent machine but most Versatile dealers were already selling another brand of combine. The combines are still being made by Rostlemash in Russia and still sold overseas.

Hi Mike can you point out the advantage of an air system on the red head? How it works and what is it's supposed workings?
Zach, the MN Millennial Farm has been using that system on one of his combines for a while now and if you go back into his library I'm pretty sure you'll find an answer as well as his honest opinion of it which is pretty good overall.
do most of the row crop farms own the semi trucks hauling or are the trucks contracted from independent truckers or the grain elevators?
Most farms I know have their own semi trucks.

I've heard it several times that those huge tires on all of this farm equipment is kinda crazy expensive. Are the tracked machines any easier on the bank account? Do they come with their own set of improved problems?
Tracks are generally more money than tires and depending on the situation can be more maintenance. However tracks have more flotation.
Funny I was watching that tractor run across the field and it appeared to be porpoising like a boat with the bow trim a little high. Wondering if that ole boy wasn't daydreaming about perty girls in skimpy bathing suits and fishing poles riding through the bean patch...... hahahaha

I don't quite understand your question? Are you asking how many bushels per hour a combine is capable of?
Isaw what looed like a blower and hose attachment on the back of the cutting head,never noticed that before. What is it for/do?
Thats a Crary Wind System. It blow air on the cutterbar and helps keep the crop moving and the cutterbar clean. Also helps save some grain that may be lost in certain conditions.

Actually I was wrong. That was not a Crary Wind System but rather an Air Bar made by another company. But serves pretty much the same purpose.
