If Sony knew it was going to have a problem with PS1, PS2 and PS3 emulators then why change PS+ and add a Premium service? There is nothing premium about it and shouldn't have been included until they knew the time was right. Everytime I look at the Classics Catalogue I am still totally underwhelmed by what it missing.
This comment. PS Premium is definitely not worth the price that it’s priced at. You said it perfectly. It is underwhelming. How many iterations of ape escape and Syphon filter will they keep releasing? Geezuz
The thing I find really unacceptable, is that some updates to the PS1 classics seem to introduce new emulation bugs. When I tried out the new update for Jumping Flash that gives European players a 60Hz option, I noticed that the game's HUD graphics now don't display correctly, and are corrupted. The update made that the case for both 50Hz and 60Hz, when before it worked perfectly. I haven't been able to find anyone else talk about this online. Have others here in the comments encountered this issue?
Them not having the OG God of War games is just crazy to me I know they have them available to stream but it's not the same. I mean they have the Jak trilogy on there, there's no excuse
That's my real issue right there. A lot of remakes and remastered editions tend to erase the original versions from purchase that in some cases play way better than the remaster.
What do you mean "it's not the same"? I'm trying to find a new PS3 so I can play God of War 1 and 2, but can't find one. I might just give up and buy a PS5 and settle for streaming, but I'm not sure what to expect/if it's worth it
I'm glad the ridge racer games are now sold I prefer owning over subscribing. Also it's nice that for the most part entitlement works well for ps1/psp games. I bought the $15 killzone liberation/logans shadow 2-pack on the ps3 store and they immediately unlocked the ps5 classics for me.
Same. People may say the selection is underwhelming but since the PS1 relied so heavily on third parties there is only so much Sony can offer, mainly first party titles from the system, because third parties sell their games and collections separately.
Honestly I’m just glad Sony allows you to buy the classic games you want separately. The reason I hate NSO so much is that you are forced to subscribe to play classic Nintendo games on Switch, which is honestly worse than not offering them at all. Subscription should solely be an option, and never the only method to access any game.
While I perfectly understand why you feel that way, history has proven that Virtual console was a flop and I guarantee you that these PS1 games are selling like ass on PS5. The sad reality is that these games don't sell when offered individually but people do subscribe to these services. I get it but people have "spoken with their wallets" on this and that's why it has shifted to sub services. In the specific case of NSO, I kid you not that the cost of making them individually available is sometimes even barely covered by the sales they get and these publishers actually get profit from what Nintendo pays them since Nintendo itself takes care of setting up the emulator and rom themselves. Some virtual console releases sold less than 200 copies. That's a loss for these companies. Also, some old games, due to weird licensing nonsense, can only be made available via subscriptions and not sold individually. My guess is that RE1DC classic from PS1 is not sold separately because of this.
The online requirement is also a pain if you use the Switch while travelling. Every time I try it tells me it hasn't connected to the internet in the last week. If they won't allow you to buy them, they should at least let you choose a game to permanently add to your collection each month.
@@TFSned it has a 7 day verification time-frame. You only need to verify once every 7 days. Still not great honestly, it should simply be able to read the expiration date of your sub. But yeah, it's 7 days.
@@VagrantValmaroh no you are absolutely right and it’s also why Sony and Nintendo don’t care about backwards compatibility. The PlayStation 3 and Wii U had incredible backwards compatibility and respect for legacy content but sold horribly and thus Sony and Nintendo dumped it. Proof? The Switch and PlayStation 4 have zero backwards compatibility are highly acclaimed well loved critical and commercially successful systems that their predecessors never were. Gamers only care about new games. It sucks because the Virtual Console was objectively better in terms of consumer value (owning>renting) but it made the company less money and people are easily fooled by subscriptions so here we are. It sucks because if the Switch had Virtual Console (heck even if it had nothing in place of NSO) it would have been my favorite Nintendo console. I still do think the option of not having purchases is incredibly scummy since PS Plus and GamePass allow for both a sub or purchase so it isn’t really one or the other imo.
Sony just slyly announced theyre raising the prices of PS Plus (substantially). So much for them 'doing better'. I'm done with their anti-consumer practices and bad value proposition.
what im confused abt is the choice of games on classics, for example i never understood why we got Ape Escape on PS1 and then we get the PSP remake when theres sm more PSP games to choose (R&C Size Matters, J&D PSP, LBP PSP, etc)
I aggress, and I suspect they me be doing more "strategic" releases like how they dropped Twist Metal 1 and 2 just a head of the show coming out. That's my tin foil hat theory I could totally be off mark.
@@Typo-The-Gamer yeah the twisted metal games being released is a great addition and possibly due to the show but I wished they actually showed the games of the eras and which popped out making many by these older consoles.
I'd love if they somehow brought back some online PS3 games and then also made it so you can play with people on the new consoles and on the PlayStation 3 at the same time
I usually buy physical copies of PS1, PS2, and PS3 games but the digital version is a great alternative for preservation and anyone that hasn't experienced the original get to experience it. A joy. 🥰
Perfect, on point video! If only Sony listened to you... I'm all down on classics, but the support is very lacking because they don't want to bother with too many license fees and publishers don't want to add any costs that'll be poor and long to return. They all just bank up on the new games, remasters and remakes to cash-in more. Yes, the majority of the classics we are getting is published by Sony for a reasons. And I guess the PS2 classics program on PS4 was a bust. But looking how they are updating PS1 games, listened to Pal/Ntsc rant and EVEN patching some (The Legend of Dragoon had critical issue) -- some hope left, at the very least they can update the PS2 emulator so it's run smoothly and without any artefacts like now, maybe even adding some features. But build a PS3 emulator? Sadly no. Costs will be too much (working with the cell cores is a pain in the ass and writing all those instructions, testing it and etc.).
Sadly the streaming servers of ps3 are not available in a lot of countries. I think they should make them download or even better make us able to use our physical collections
My reason for paying for PS plus premium was the classic games then I did the math and figured It was more worth It to buy them individually I hope they stick to this, I would love to have a massive library of PS1 and PSP games they shot themselves In the foot with PS3 being hard to emulate but PS4 onward I think backwards compatibility Is here to stay so It's nice to see them bringing these classic games back I still don't know what "Retro classic" means In the video options
I’m starting to wonder if this isn’t the case for me as well. Looks like most are $10 each. Premium is $120 a year. Have they really dropped 12 games I’m interested in? I don’t think they have.
I’d rather buy individually. On sale or otherwise. That way I can set my console to offline mode for long stretches of time without worrying about account licenses issues.
@@KnightOfNewColuThat's the general case for these types of things. I don't play Xbox at all but it's undeniably a great deal with such a plethora of games - But! That is only the case if you play through or pick up several games a month. If you stick to one or two, it's much, much cheaper to buy them. Add to it that you will actually have them for the future and not fall victim to the companies pulling content for arbitrary reasons. It's an even stronger case when buying physical, which they cannot remove or patch away content from.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but I’m having trouble finding a clear answer… are these classics only available for streaming, or can you download, say, ps1 games to the ps5 and own them individually (v through a streaming service)
Anything that you can download and play completely offline is welcome... But everything like “Netflix” services where you don’t OWN the game, have to be online all the time, and doesn’t allow you to download the gane... that is CANCER! 😤
I like the PS1 and PSP emulation and the fast forward rewind feature. I think the addition of the rewind makes me more likely to go back to these old games, especially if you add trophy support also. If they add more, I'm all for it.
I'm all for saving older titles. I've played a few on our version of ps premium (Australian none streaming). But I like to buy and save as many games as I can. Streaming in Australia would be an improvement in my opinion.
I think Sony needs to develop new emulators soon, separate games into categories like Nintendo PS1, PSP, PS2. These emulators have to run up to pPS3, because here in Brazil we don't have PS3 games in the cloud. Also put in several interesting functions, such as rewinding the games, and after leaving everything working correctly, keep a small team for maintenance and even helping third-party companies to bring their games to the ps plus. And finally, make the PS-Portal (psp LOL) run these emulators, I know that the PS3 would not be possible to run, but even the PS2 and some indies running natively would be a great product in the face of competition.
I won’t be happy until they bring many more PS2 games. PS2 games such as Def Jam NY Need For Speed Games True Crimes Tekken Games Tony Hawks Underground Burnout Games NBA Street NFL Street Manhunt & many more games.
The problem is that all these games have to be licensed, Sony would need to pay each publisher an ongoing amount to put/keep those titles on the service. It basically comes down to how much Sony can spend and whether they want to license older games or focus on newer games. It's the same for all these services, it's a balance between licensing titles and keeping the service profitable.
@@vrubayka I'm not talking about the store, I'm talking about services like Playstation Plus Extra & Premium, same with game pass. They have to license titles for the service and it is usually an ongoing fee, that's why titles usually leave the service after a while, the license lapses and they basically decide not to renew it or negotiate for some other titles. The store works differently, usually Sony will take 30% of the gross sale amount and the publisher will take 70% but depending on how big you are, you may be able to negotiate a better rate, but from what I understand this isn't super common. But it does happen from time to time.
@@Pointman11111 I assume you mean why aren't they selling PS3 games on the PS5? If so, that just comes down to a lack of compatibility. I'll try and keep it simple. The PS3 had a very unique architecture. The problem is the 7 SPUs (Synergistic Processing Units) on the PS3, there is no hardware equivalent to it on anything other than the PS3 itself. The way Xbox 360 backwards compatibility is handled on modern Xbox consoles is not actually via emulation, they just use that term as people are familiar with it. What they actually do is a process called 'binary translation', they completely convert each game from PowerPC architecture into x86-64 so those games can run natively on the Xbox console. That's why you can't just insert a disc and play it, you have to download a version of the game that has been translated into x86 so it can run on the console. Binary translation isn't an option for running PS3 games on the PS5 because there is nothing equivalent to those SPUs in the PS5. So you have to use traditional emulation to run PS3 games, which is a lot slower than binary translation, and very complex due to the architecture of the PS3. If Sony does manage to build a working PS3 emulator then those games could be sold in the PS5 store, but right now there is no way to run PS3 games on the PS5, those systems are just too different.
@@RazielAU so how did homebrew devs manage to develop a ps3 emulator or make ps3 games work to run on PC And no i meant the classics that ste sold on ps3 store
I'm glad they are slowly improving on the emulation and for preservation and convenience reasons i think it's great. I have to say now that i have installed my ps1in my gameroom and playing those game on a real crt again, the feeling of placing the disc in the console and hearing the sounds of the disc spinning, the feeling of the og dualshock and standard controller and image quality simply cannot be emulated. Don't get me wrong i love emulation and i play a lot of Ps1 games on PSVita, Duckstation and PS3.
I'm loving all the classics on PS5, keep them coming Sony. Especially the PS1 games, they are pixel perfect. I've noticed so many new details of the graphics that I never noticed before because every other time I've played it, even on PS3, they've been somewhat blurry.
I just wish hopefully Sony would really find a way to bring PS3 emulator to the PS5 without having to stream every games in the catalog. But if they do and done the backwards compatible with PS3 onto the PS5, the console would be a legend and in the future I’m hoping they would be doing the legendary PS2 too because PS5 can read DVD's but not the games.
@@Kizarat Right. It would’ve been easy if Sony continues finding the official emulator team that shared on a pc, so at least anyone can just message Sony or PlayStation if they can hire RPCS3 because I don’t think they heard about RPCS3 that does great emulations.
I definitely agree it is getting better despite the lack of PS2 games and the drip feed of games. Stuff like Killzone Liberation and Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice are perfect for me as they have nice easy platinums and are a short trip down memory lane.
With the closing of e-shops and push toward digital-only content and unnecessary online requirements, I just said screw it and ended up jailbreaking every single one of my consoles that are able to be jailbroken. I don't feel the least bit bad at all. Subscription services are total BS and it really bugs me how video game companies have decided to go down this road.
I saw Herc's Adventures, I immediately bought it. Such a great game even for PS1. And you could have a friend then flame them when they steal your stuff.
Would be great to be able to just plug a PS2 or PS3 disc into the PS5 and play it. Thinking about playing Dante's Inferno but either have to unpack my PS3 or hope for a remastered version
It's insane that Sony and Nintendo still slowly add emulated games to their catalogue, even though they're now charging a subscription. Disney plus made most of their catalogue available from the start. They didn't make you wait for each movie to show up, or add The Simpsons one season at a time. What's worse is that it's even slower than back on the Wii and PS3. You're paying monthly but you're not even guaranteed one new game per month for each platform. I want to support these, but there's almost no reason to use them since they don't offer anything we don't already have, like betas, unreleased games, new translations, special challenges etc. Nintendo have done this a few times, like Star Fox 2 on the SNES Classic and Switch, but it's a tiny fraction of what they really have.
Love the content and subscribed. I wasn't too impressed last year with PS+ Premium but came back to it last month and really was surprized by the amount added and what's continuing to be added.
That's nice. I will still buy PS1 and PS2 games on the PS3 while I still can. Atleast that's better than subscription services where you don't own even a single bit of what's on there.
I really just hope that they make ports for a lot of the PS3 games instead of forcing us to stream them like ratchet and clank for example, because if someone doesn’t have the best Internet, then they’re probably not even going to be able to get a good experience out of playing the older ratchet and clank games
I think the moment Sony allows us to buy or download ps3 games. And maybe eventually adds vita is the moment they possibly win the subscription service war. Including ps4 and ps5 in this that would be literally 7 generations of PlayStation on 1 console. At least I hope they go down that path
I definitely will not be going for the premium tier again until there's a massive improvement in the catalogue. The fact that the PS3 and Vita stores (which were going to be closed a few years ago) still have a much larger selection of classic games is honestly ridiculous.
Great video always love discussions on the future of classic games. I wonder how long Premium can last with its big selling point being the classic games. They have to have some kind of plan going forward to be able to continue to add classic titles long in the future. I'll stay subbed to it as long as we continue to get new classic games (with trophy support).
I think it also goes to really show just how much Sony's early personality was driven by third parties, and how much of them are just multiplat now. Like Tomb Raider, Crash, Spyro, Metal Gear, the PSX final fantasies, Resident Evil, lot of great stuff that many would argue are definitive titles for the console, a lot of which can't really be under the PS premium banner cause of how their companies have decided to do collections or remasters or remakes, etc. Same situation for a lot of the PS2 honestly.
Sony has totally lost its once magic touch @Mystic - The pisspoor launch of PSVR2 with “virtually” no games and having it launched when the PS5 was still difficult to buy in stores over 2 years after its launch. - And what about this poorly designed handheld debacle which is a far cry from the superb psp and vita, - the absolute stupendous design of that PS5 “router”, - the “we believe in generations” crap and then releasing multi gen stuff even 3 years in the PS5 cycle, - the lack of creativity with rehashed old games as remasters and even re-remasters (TLO anyone?) - the uninspired advertising campaigns. (Remember those insane and very creative advertisements and commercials from the 90’s and 2000’s?) I could go on but somehow Playstation is nothing like what it used to be and that is sad, very sad.
I mostly use PS Plus premium for PS3 games cause I just don’t want to own a PS3. Now for PS2 games and PS1 games I want to get back into it cause I miss the old Nickelodeon games that were made for PS2, just gotta find myself a refurbished PS2 in the future when I have the cash
Hi. Full disclosure: I'm on the Xbox side of this (I have a Series X). Sony's at-launch poor support for backwards compatibility (and more broadly, kind of iffy system software support) was a sore point of mine (and part of why I went with Xbox). But I see it as an objectively good thing that Sony's bringing back their older catalogue on PS5. I think a while back Microsoft said that they don't see many more games being added to backwards compatibility for Xbox Series, and it sounded like it was the same reason you listed as being an issue for PS5: Some publishers may not give permission, or in some cases, the IP owner may be difficult to find. I still find PS5's lack of PS3 backwards compatibility running locally (ie, not streaming via PSNow) is a frustrating own-goal on Sony's part. Yes, you have to download an updated version from the internet even if you have a disc for 360/original Xbox on Microsofts end, but after that, it kind of just works. You've gotten a sub for being pretty objective.
As someone whose primarily PlayStation and Nintendo its undeniable Microsoft has done the best job with backwards compatibility and respecting their legacy. I never had an Xbox 360 but I bought a Series S as my first Xbox just as an all in one Xbox console.
I really hope they add games like Silent Hill 1 Dino crisis old rachet and clank titles little big planet MotorStorm MGS4 and other games that should be in the store
They should offer a separate subscription tier that only has the classic games catalogue. It’s ridiculous that’s it’s only included in the most expensive tier. (But not as ridiculous as having game trials only in the most expensive tier.)
@fasoooli2751 yeah it's a shame the only way we can enjoy some of these classics is struggling to get 720p 30fps through streaming, when most if not all are capable of running at 1080p 60fps
Imagine if they brought ps2 and ps3 emulation to ps plus premium. Imagine being able to play all older games from PlayStation Studios. Imagine if they had sections for their studios.. Like you could go to the Naughty Dog section, and see the list of their games throughout the years and be able to play them? Man that would be so sick I would absolutely love to play through every studio.. I can only dream.
I actually really like ps plus premium just not for the classics you can get but the games catalog is really good as well. They definitely have to expand the classics a bit but it’s moving in the right direction in my opinion. I’m definitely hoping for more third party’s coming on board.
@@by_nico lol hell no that’s way to much money 😂😂 I’m gonna drop down a tier so I’m not getting increased but that much. I think that was the dumbest move PlayStation has made this year next to releasing the portal.
Why in the hell is it taking them so damn long to make a ps2 emulator... Why aren't they bringing back classics like gow 1+2, ratchet and clank trilogy?? Especially since they're still releasing games from those franchises? It's insane how long this id taking.
Im pretty sure Sony could make PS3 consoles for less $150 today if they wanted. It would be cool if they included PS3 hardware in the disc version and then emulation for the other systems. People would gladly pay $600-700 for a PS6 that was backward compatible back to PS1.
PS5 Pro would solve all of these emulation issues. Average consumers don't care about emulation or backwards compatibility resulting in Sony not caring either by not even giving us the bare minimum. A PS5 Pro that has hardware to natively play PS1-PS3 discs including the other upgrades for only 100 dollars more would be worth it IMO.
I've played almost all the PS1 and PSP games dropped so far, even streamed a fair few PS3 games. Yeah it's disappointing for sure, I'm still getting a fair use out of the classics but I sometimes wonder how many people are doing the same.
I got 3 Playstation 1 games Twisted Metal 1, Destruction Derby, Warjetz for free from Sony via PS Home during the E3 for PS4 hub. Since they added Twisted Metal for PS4/PS5 and added trophies to it and for me it was free so I've been playing it. Hoping the other 2 games get put on PS4/PS5 also.
Great video. I personally just buy the games separately, as long as that's offered of course. Too bad PS3 is limited to streaming, there are so many games available! Regardless of how likely it is that these would show up, I'd love to be able to play the original RE2 and RE3 as well as the Parasite Eve games. Also, why would Capcom not allow people to separately buy original RE: DC?? Seems like a silly move. Maybe SIE offered them a bigger paycheck to be included in the service with SIE hoping this method would encourage more sign-ups? Seeing that image of the botched GTA "remasters" reminded me that the original versions of those games were removed from storefronts following the DE launch. Also, don't forget that Rockstar then ADDED those original games BACK but only on the Rockstar Store (PC $30, they also gave those games for free to people who purchased DE through the Rockstar Store) but did none of this for the console storefronts.
I never bought the PS4 GTA trilogy games because they never lowered to a price I agreed with, and now I regret it. I never bought them because I already owned them on PS3.
Hey, I want PAL games! I am from Germany and they just feel right! Besides sometimes it's in my language and that feels like home. If they would go back to NTSC only I would not buy most of the games and emulating them myself instead. But I'm still waiting for a ps5 slim with far less power consumption anyway. Playing on a ps5 would be just too expensive right now.
Just buy a backwards compatible PS3 that won't die the next day and you will save yourself a lot of time and money. Unless you are about preservation and enjoy the first party games only.
I just wish theytreat the classics like real games and not have them only available with streaming. I wish we could download them and play the whole thing and have trophies in it like normal games
I'm wondering what the deal is with Resident Evil on PS Premium. We got the first one with the service launch, but 2 and 3 are still nowhere to be found. They're the only mainline RE games not on PS5 right now.
Playing Ape Escape On the Loose feels weird. When I'm on my PSP or Vita, I easily adjust to the limited controls. But when I'm holding the controller and playing on the big screen, it's harder to remember that I'm not on the original version with access to the original controls.
I like playing on my crt with an xstation modded ps1 and a softmodded ps2 slim where i stream the game's data from my computer to console through an ethernet cable, after i have played everything i wanna play on a crt i might consider replaying some of my favorites on plastation store just for the achievements. But in general, since those games are just the original titles emulated and displayed on a modern display with a way higher resolution, its different. I wont say its wrong cause there is no wrong or correct way here, but for people who care about the whole experience(graphics etc) its different playing the game on its intended technology and different when its played on a modified enviroment than its original.
This is why I will forever have my fully backwards compatible PS3 but having all of this on the PS5 would be the dream

Wii U Virtual Console > NSO
I'd love if they somehow brought back some online PS3 games and then also made it so you can play with people on the new consoles and on the PlayStation 3 at the same time
Sadly, the PS3 online games are plagued with cheaters nowadays 😢
*Epic video intro music plays*
@@0dn4mr4 they can easily fix the servers like Microsoft did with call of duty
imagine modnation racers coming baack
I have been playing the original R&C games on PS Plus Streaming and its been really solid, minimal lag and generally solid image.
i'm playing gow ascension and fallout new vegas on ps plus streming but it would be better if ps3 games could run 1080p
I can't get over the input lag
Totally agree on the preservation piece. More power to the players and community
My reason for paying for PS plus premium was the classic games
then I did the math and figured It was more worth It to buy them individually
I hope they stick to this, I would love to have a massive library of PS1 and PSP games
they shot themselves In the foot with PS3 being hard to emulate but PS4 onward I think backwards compatibility Is here to stay so It's nice to see them bringing these classic games back
I still don't know what "Retro classic" means In the video options
More PS2 titles would be nice lol
Damn, this came out one day before Sony increased the price of all PS+ tiers. Now it’s $160 a year for Premium
Anything that you can download and play completely offline is welcome... But everything like “Netflix” services where you don’t OWN the game, have to be online all the time, and doesn’t allow you to download the gane... that is CANCER! 😤
Would love to see all the old Tomb Raiders
I like the PS1 and PSP emulation and the fast forward rewind feature. I think the addition of the rewind makes me more likely to go back to these old games, especially if you add trophy support also. If they add more, I'm all for it.
i was wondering 4 sec ago if you make a video today and here it is
Same, I was rewatching the last video 😅
And today they raised the price of the service by 33%. I feel like ppl who may have considered subbing to a higher tier are now kinda put off.
This is why I got a PS3 with 500gb so I can buy games like Resistance and Killzone and PS1 and PS2 classic games
they just killed premium by raising the price to $160 pre tax
I have a launch model 60GB PS3 (upgraded to 500GB) next to a disc edition PS5, so I’m all good for the foreseeable future. 😎
Same here
I won’t be happy until they bring many more PS2 games.
PS2 games such as
Def Jam NY
Need For Speed Games
True Crimes
Tekken Games
Tony Hawks Underground
Burnout Games
NBA Street
NFL Street
Manhunt
& many more games.
5 months later and nothing
PS5 - Can play some PS1, PS2 and PSP games.
Xbox Series X|S - Can play almost every PS1, PS2 and PSP game (on emulators via Dev Mode).
How ironic.
I wish all the Spider-Man games for PS3 was compatible
The problem is that all these games have to be licensed, Sony would need to pay each publisher an ongoing amount to put/keep those titles on the service. It basically comes down to how much Sony can spend and whether they want to license older games or focus on newer games. It's the same for all these services, it's a balance between licensing titles and keeping the service profitable.
You think Sony pays publishers to put games on the PlayStation Store?
@@vrubayka I'm not talking about the store, I'm talking about services like Playstation Plus Extra & Premium, same with game pass. They have to license titles for the service and it is usually an ongoing fee, that's why titles usually leave the service after a while, the license lapses and they basically decide not to renew it or negotiate for some other titles.
The store works differently, usually Sony will take 30% of the gross sale amount and the publisher will take 70% but depending on how big you are, you may be able to negotiate a better rate, but from what I understand this isn't super common. But it does happen from time to time.
Why not selling the games they're already selling on the ps3 store right now?
@@RazielAU so how did homebrew devs manage to develop a ps3 emulator or make ps3 games work to run on PC
And no i meant the classics that ste sold on ps3 store
They should hire the RPCS3 team who developed the PS3 emulator for PC. The PS5 has an x86 architecture which it shares with PCs.
Actually really pumped for Glover. No word on a release date yet though
I just want Fromsoft/Sony to put King’s Fields/Shadow Towers games in the classic catalogue that would be the amazing.
I saw Herc's Adventures, I immediately bought it. Such a great game even for PS1. And you could have a friend then flame them when they steal your stuff.
It's pretty wild that I can play PS3 games on my Steam Deck but not my PS5.
We need ps3 non streaming games
Love the content and subscribed. I wasn't too impressed last year with PS+ Premium but came back to it last month and really was surprized by the amount added and what's continuing to be added.
That's nice. I will still buy PS1 and PS2 games on the PS3 while I still can. Atleast that's better than subscription services where you don't own even a single bit of what's on there.
Ps1 ps2 and psp games can be bought on ps4/5. They're not subscription only
Ps1 psp games cost 10$ each, some are 6$
between my computer, ps3, and ps5 I still am grateful to have access to many games.
I'm hoping they re release Jeanne arc game from psp
I definitely will not be going for the premium tier again until there's a massive improvement in the catalogue. The fact that the PS3 and Vita stores (which were going to be closed a few years ago) still have a much larger selection of classic games is honestly ridiculous.
Im glad i still got my ps3 and ps2 and my vita
Great video always love discussions on the future of classic games. I wonder how long Premium can last with its big selling point being the classic games. They have to have some kind of plan going forward to be able to continue to add classic titles long in the future. I'll stay subbed to it as long as we continue to get new classic games (with trophy support).
Yes. Disappointed no trophy support for RE1 (classic) and, more recently, Alone in the Dark. Tekken 2 as well.
I’m still waiting for the old Resident evil games, Tomb Raider games, and marvel vs Capcom 2
I truly hope they start releasing classics that never released on the PS3 store. Like Omega Boost, MediEvil 2, heck even Tiny Tank.
Talk about the PS plus bs. Call Sony out for this greedy stunt
God Of War 1 & 2 Remake!
God Hand Remake!
Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks Remake!
Retro achievements. Saved me a tonne of cash. I’m enjoying retro way more than anything modern.
Sony has totally lost its once magic touch @Mystic
- The pisspoor launch of PSVR2 with “virtually” no games and having it launched when the PS5 was still difficult to buy in stores over 2 years after its launch.
- And what about this poorly designed handheld debacle which is a far cry from the superb psp and vita,
- the absolute stupendous design of that PS5 “router”,
- the “we believe in generations” crap and then releasing multi gen stuff even 3 years in the PS5 cycle,
- the lack of creativity with rehashed old games as remasters and even re-remasters (TLO anyone?)
- the uninspired advertising campaigns. (Remember those insane and very creative advertisements and commercials from the 90’s and 2000’s?)
I could go on but somehow Playstation is nothing like what it used to be and that is sad, very sad.
Why can’t they just have the Silent Hill Games on PS5? I wouldn’t even have to look for it on PS3 or PS2…
I mostly use PS Plus premium for PS3 games cause I just don’t want to own a PS3. Now for PS2 games and PS1 games I want to get back into it cause I miss the old Nickelodeon games that were made for PS2, just gotta find myself a refurbished PS2 in the future when I have the cash
was getting better until the price increases
I wished THE SSX SERIES AND TONY HAWK SERIES SHOULD BE ON THE LIST OF CLASSIC GAMES
If there was one game I wish could come back it would be modnation racers.
LBP Karting, MAG, SOCOM, the list goes on lol
They should offer a separate subscription tier that only has the classic games catalogue. It’s ridiculous that’s it’s only included in the most expensive tier. (But not as ridiculous as having game trials only in the most expensive tier.)
By the far the most ridiculous is no online play only tier
We need to be able to download all these games too. Most of them being locked to streaming only is just not good
That is strictly the ps3 games
@fasoooli2751 yeah it's a shame the only way we can enjoy some of these classics is struggling to get 720p 30fps through streaming, when most if not all are capable of running at 1080p 60fps
No subbar subscription services, ROMs for life.
PS Extra is the sweet spot imo
Now it costs 160$ do you still like it? 😂😂
@@by_nico lol hell no that’s way to much money 😂😂 I’m gonna drop down a tier so I’m not getting increased but that much. I think that was the dumbest move PlayStation has made this year next to releasing the portal.
At least they're buyable
Why in the hell is it taking them so damn long to make a ps2 emulator... Why aren't they bringing back classics like gow 1+2, ratchet and clank trilogy?? Especially since they're still releasing games from those franchises? It's insane how long this id taking.
Dino Crisis? RE2&3? That's okay if they don't want to do any Silent Hills if they're remaking them but can we get some Parasite Eve?
6:45 - 26 PS1 games and 21 PSP games today (20 PSP games if you don’t count Coded Soul only available in Asia)
I keep hoping that they'll put the first Silent Hill game on PS4/PS5 with a trophy list.
I would like to gain thropies in Toy Story 2, this will be amazing if they add thropies to it..
Im pretty sure Sony could make PS3 consoles for less $150 today if they wanted. It would be cool if they included PS3 hardware in the disc version and then emulation for the other systems. People would gladly pay $600-700 for a PS6 that was backward compatible back to PS1.
Yeah but most of the population would not be okay with paying $600-$700 for a console. Might as well get a PC and emulate at that point lol
They increased the price of premium by 30%. They're not doing any better imo
Glover I remember that game on the Nintendo 64.
I've played almost all the PS1 and PSP games dropped so far, even streamed a fair few PS3 games. Yeah it's disappointing for sure, I'm still getting a fair use out of the classics but I sometimes wonder how many people are doing the same.
Personally I think they should add all PS3, PS2, PS1, PSP games and trophy support and make all PS titles have platinums and trophies
And they should make PS1, PS2, and PSP categories, instead of just dumping them all into both PS4 and PS5 categories. Shit's confusing
I bought premium because of the PS1 PS2 classics wish they release more games including fighting games
Same here, I still can’t believe Tekken 3 hasn’t been listed or any of the bloody roar games

Sony really fucked up with backwards compatibility. They could learn a thing or two with how Microsoft approached it
I know how you feel.. they are totally dragging their feet with these classic games. I am itching to play Command & Conquer on the PS5!!!!
I wish Daxter and TLF would go on the service with trophies.
I love classics. I upgraded for only $8 and I'm working on platinuming the psp syphon filter games.
I Hope they're also working a emulation solution ps3 and Vita
I'm pretty happy that they are trying to implement trophies to games. It gives you a reason to actually go back and play them on newer consoles imo
My only question is where are all the classic games by Psygnosis?
