I noticed when I cooked and took my lunch to work I didn't have to worry about finding something to eat. I worked 7PM to 7 AM. When I hit the fast food before work it didn't take long to gain 20lbs. 😩 I would always get a salad and a side. Now if we only cooked like in the 50s and 60s. That entailed planning menus for the week and shopping specials. If you had a freezer you were set. You could buy what was on sale, fix meals for a week and freeze. My cousin still cooks and bakes from scratch. No waste. She has a Frazer full of pies and cake for church and for guests. She is 101 years old.
I couldnt believe my luck ,went garage saling yesterday .......... got 3 glassy babys for $5 they all have original stickers. Names are , Imagine , Friendship , and Wet Dog
When you found the Vines oil lamp, it sent me on a “bird walk” looking up Vines Art Glass (as I had just acquired a similarly signed perfume bottle from an estate sale yesterday). Turns out - as mentioned in another comment - Roger Vines has worked with glass since 1982 and worked at Mount St Helen’s (MSH) glass studio. He opened his own studio in Bandon, Oregon (my state) and then sold the studio to Bryce Dimitruk in 2004. Bryce is continuing to run the shop as Vines Art Glass and, if you look at his website, you will see some amazing glasswork - including some gorgeous lamps!! Apparently Bryce studied under Steven Lundberg for several years before setting out on his own. And, it appears Roger Vines is now 79 years old and lives in Salem (OR), where I grew up. It’s amazing the things we learn from watching your videos.
If you ever have time to talk about what it is like selling through a booth and all of its expenses - especially if it is profitable or not, I, and maybe others, would be interested in hearing your story on booth selling ups and downs. Thank you, I learn so much from you!
I had a booth. It all depends on how popular your antique mall is. If they let sellers in that don't have antiques then the purists tend to go somewhere else. Also your sales depend on what you have in your booth and how you price the items. It was nice where I was because I just paid rent and didn't have to take a turn working at the checkout. They eventually closed due to marital issues.
I found 2 glassybaby’s last Wednesday at goodwill they were taped together and priced for $0.99 I just sold the white one called “honor” for $175 today and the other one “forever” I’m sure is going to sell soon too for $175 also so excited I couldn’t believe I got two for $0.99 that’s crazy!
I visited Harrisburg last week and because of you I went to the Lemoyne Antique Mall. Had a great time and dropped a little cash. Thanks for your commitment to finding fun stuff.

I really enjoy shopping with you. I’m in Seattle… not far from the studio where the Glassy Babies are produced. My daughter bought one for me when they had their big sale. Each color has it’s own meaning. Mine is a Cranberry color and is titled “ True Love”. For their sale they set all the glassy babies out one big tables and have them displayed according to the color. Such a beautiful site. Dozens of Blues, Greens, Pinks, Yellow, Purples….etc. You are right they are pricey… mine was on sale for 99. So, keep looking… never give up. Thank You for the fun.

I believe that the pottery piece identified as "magnolia" is actually a species of Sagittaria (duck potato or arrowhead) in the Alismataceae . They are water plants and monocots related to grasses rather than the very different magnolias which are dicots. A note from your plant taxonomist in Morgantown, WV.

She was a cook on sheep stations where they cook (5 times a day) for a hundred blokes during shearing season. I thought gravy was for very special occasions. Roger Vines makes very nice glass. He made pieces for Mt St Helens Ash MSH. It astounds me his pieces are so undervalued but if it says MSH you can get more money. 🤦🏻♀️ buts it’s literally one of the artists who made glass for MSH. I feel like once people catch on his pieces are going to be worth more. His pieces are STUNNING

Nippon is not a company. Nippon is the Japanese word for their country, Japan. Something marked Nippon only just means that it was made in Japan. If another word is written with it, that is the company name. In 1921 the US said the japanese had to mark their items Japan rather than Nippon if they were exporting them to the US. Therefore, the Nippon marking is useful in dating Japanese exported pottery.

I have no idea what to do with them. What you showed gives me some ideas for sharing them with family members. My daughter could figure out how to make it.

Roseville Clematis (small blue, large green) was the first pottery I ever collected. And I still have the original pieces I purchased in 1995.
I am a pottery collector and the prices on that Roseville were beyond good. I just bought a bunch. Weller is really my thing and Gonder.
