  • Hey Guys!
You'll be glad to know I'm ok but please make sure you are too!
I woke up with my sugars at 16.8 and my ketones 4.6 so I text my nurse for advice and she told me to go to the hospital.
I felt ok and was close to not going but I'm glad I did!
The bruises are worth it, at least I'm healthy!
Here's hoping I can stay on track....
    Take Care xo

I'm glad that you are OK and you caught it in time. DKA isn't anything to play around with. Your poor arm, though!

Hi Sarah, maybe due to my bad english but I wasnt got what was the reason on backstory where those getones came from? I thought that for getones blood sugar must be really wrong (hi) for a long time?

I currently have ketones of 4.7 but I don't want to tell my mum cause she's going to be annoyed. I haven't been checking my bloods for days at a time and I haven't been taking insulin regularly. I don't know what to do 😓

Great video Sarah! I just subscribed to your channel. You do a great job of bringing awareness to T1D and capturing the seriousness of the disease. I'm glad you are okay.
I just started a youtube channel for T1D support. Please check it out if you get a chance, I would love to get your feedback :)

I've been diagnosed since 8/9/10 and I know that having DKA is the worse thing ever! I have been hospitalised twice because of it first time I only had to stay over night but second time had to stay for 3 night and was poked and prodded every hour :( but I hope you are feeling better and if you ever want to chat I follow you on insta at anniethediabetic Xx

Wait, what is a Ketones meter?! I wonder if it is a UK thing only? We still pee on strips over here in the US (unless I live in a cave and I am unaware of this lol). Thats too cool.

Hi Sarah...I watched several of your videos which I really like, but I see almost every time very high BS values. This can't be good...you really have to talk to your specialist about increasing your Lantus, which is the base of your insulin need. I use Lantus once a day, it works almost 24 hours and is the basis of a steady BS. Maybe a pump is the solution for you. Please, take good care of yourself, you are still very young, unlike me ;-). I didn't take care of my Type1 for several years and am facing the consequences now due to high BS values. I don't wanna scare you but living your life 'on the high BS end' really will affect your health in time. Take care!
