I love the slow, calming aspects of stitching over one. My best advice is to always stitch over one on a tight linen. Big holes allow the threads to slip.❤

Wonderful projects, ladies. My favorites are Fruits of Plenty and Caroline's sweater. I knitted back in the late 70's, and made a sweater for my husband. He wore it once and declared it was too hot to wear again. I gifted it to one of his brothers. It was a textured pattern, I think called a brick stitch.

Carolyn, as I write this the SuperBowl is tomorrow. Your 49ers won, though we were cheering for the Lions. But the Niners were the best team. Tomorrow we’ll be cheering for Mahomes and the Chiefs. Patrick is a product of our Big Twelve conference. I’ve been a fan of Andy Reid for years and when the Chiefs picked Patrick in the draft I was SO excited for him. Reid is an excellent QB coach and Patrick has been amazing. So whoever wins, it will be a great game. I love football and when the season is over, I have withdrawal symptoms! I very much enjoyed watching your video today. I tremendously enjoy all of your videos. I love your Artsy Housewife piece and loved seeing your progress on your Fruits of Plenty. Your current wips are all looking amazing. I would definitely be interested in seeing your various boxes of patterns in your stash, so fun. I just sold my house last year and downsized into a much smaller place but my house that I sold was a lovely heritage two-story brick house with an old fashioned front veranda. I miss owning that brick house because it was so unique and beautiful but now my current small apartment is so much smaller and easier to look after which affords me more time to stitch, so it's a win after all. There are so many things I enjoy about this You Tube. I see beautiful work, and the intro just makes me continue on. What fun is the cat walk and it makes me happy and sometime laugh. Our first house that we bought in 1975 in Madison Wisconsin was a red brick bungalow and it had less than 900 square feet so it was tiny. we lived there for 4 years and then moved into a little bit bigger house. I have the Peace on Earth pattern by La D Da. Seeing you work on it makes me want to pull my out. Being from wisconsin,the packers loss was upsetting but as you said it was A good game. I think I will cheer for the 49ers. Anna's project bags were so cute! I also liked the poppy looking flower bag.

When you asked for a color suggestion for the swan I immediately thought - Black Swan! But it may not fit with the palette you seem to like, more soft and pale. Sarah’s basket is Chessie and Me’s personal original “sampler snack” from her reproduction sampler - Sarah Unwin. I love it (the basket) Have had it kitted since the year it came out. You are so right about christmas trees, the longest I havw had mine up is through the summer, loved the lights and ornaments to pretty to take it down. The UPS man got quite a shock on a hot day delivering packagesvand there was my christmas tree still up. Brings back great memories. Love Brick sampler, your cat walk was a hoot.

I love the pale pink idea for the Chessie and Me Quaker, I have that one to do and will keep this in mind. Chessie and Me is one of my favorite designers, in fact, I was going to suggest that exact basket Ana showed for her basket stitching. Ana, sew the dress, I hope you find a fun one to do. My sister quilts and I'm the stitcher, we went to a stitch day together with friends, she brought a small quilt to hand sew the binding and I stitched on Christmas Village. It was fun. I've used Signed and Numbered many times and they're great. Can't wait to see the ones you picked. Happy Stitching!

I love the Brick House Sampler! I started doing cross stitch at age 74 (2022) and have only used Aida & 32 count Lugana and DMC floss. But I feel ready to tackle Linen & overdyed floss. The Brick House chart is lovely and your start would help guide my stitching. The swan should become a black swan & the bird a blackbird. So use a really dark floss.

backstitch the bird! I've stitched some of the Prairie Schooler Santas on fabric that the beards don't show as well as I would like. I backstitched them and now I'm pleased with the look.

Omg I’m so excited to be considered since I’m an international participant!! I live in the same town as caroline from Evertote. Good old London, Ontario Canada. Would love to stitch the brick!! Besides “ breakin up is hard, hard to do…”love, love your bags!! I think the scissor one!! If you end with a pin stitch you don’t require hiding as much tail at the end. I have trifocals and i use a halo light and can do 56ct no problem. Something to think about!.

So sorry for my slow reply!!!! The painting was painted by Michelle Katen who was a local artist many, many, many years ago. I absolutely love her work and have 3 of her paintings. As for the PD Marking Sampler, I designed it myself using the alphabet and motifs from historic PD samplers. I'm using it as a marking sampler for a much larger piece I plan to stitch commemorating my matrilineal line of PD women that date back to the 1700s. I'll hopefully start that large piece later this year. Happy Stitching! -Carolyn

I love the slow, calming aspects of stitching over one. My best advice is to always stitch over one on a tight linen. Big holes allow the threads to slip.❤

Wonderful projects, ladies. My favorites are Fruits of Plenty and Caroline's sweater. I knitted back in the late 70's, and made a sweater for my husband. He wore it once and declared it was too hot to wear again. I gifted it to one of his brothers. It was a textured pattern, I think called a brick stitch.

Carolyn, as I write this the SuperBowl is tomorrow. Your 49ers won, though we were cheering for the Lions. But the Niners were the best team. Tomorrow we’ll be cheering for Mahomes and the Chiefs. Patrick is a product of our Big Twelve conference. I’ve been a fan of Andy Reid for years and when the Chiefs picked Patrick in the draft I was SO excited for him. Reid is an excellent QB coach and Patrick has been amazing. So whoever wins, it will be a great game. I love football and when the season is over, I have withdrawal symptoms! I just sold my house last year and downsized into a much smaller place but my house that I sold was a lovely heritage two-story brick house with an old fashioned front veranda. I miss owning that brick house because it was so unique and beautiful but now my current small apartment is so much smaller and easier to look after which affords me more time to stitch, so it's a win after all. There are so many things I enjoy about this You Tube. I see beautiful work, and the intro just makes me continue on. What fun is the cat walk and it makes me happy and sometime laugh. Our first house that we bought in 1975 in Madison Wisconsin was a red brick bungalow and it had less than 900 square feet so it was tiny. we lived there for 4 years and then moved into a little bit bigger house.

Congrats to the 49ers. Really. I live in Metro Detroit (only here for love, I wouldn’t choose to live here otherwise 😂) and the fans really deserve a team to make it to the Super Bowl. They have waited so, so, so long. But the second half of that game was all 49ers. Personally, I’m a Steelers fan.

When you asked for a color suggestion for the swan I immediately thought - Black Swan! But it may not fit with the palette you seem to like, more soft and pale. Sarah’s basket is Chessie and Me’s personal original “sampler snack” from her reproduction sampler - Sarah Unwin. I love it (the basket) Have had it kitted since the year it came out. You are so right about christmas trees, the longest I havw had mine up is through the summer, loved the lights and ornaments to pretty to take it down. The UPS man got quite a shock on a hot day delivering packagesvand there was my christmas tree still up. Brings back great memories. Love Brick sampler, your cat walk was a hoot.

I love the pale pink idea for the Chessie and Me Quaker, I have that one to do and will keep this in mind. Chessie and Me is one of my favorite designers, in fact, I was going to suggest that exact basket Ana showed for her basket stitching. Ana, sew the dress, I hope you find a fun one to do. My sister quilts and I'm the stitcher, we went to a stitch day together with friends, she brought a small quilt to hand sew the binding and I stitched on Christmas Village. It was fun. I've used Signed and Numbered many times and they're great. Can't wait to see the ones you picked.

I love the Brick House Sampler! I started doing cross stitch at age 74 (2022) and have only used Aida & 32 count Lugana and DMC floss. But I feel ready to tackle Linen & overdyed floss. The Brick House chart is lovely and your start would help guide my stitching. The swan should become a black swan & the bird a blackbird. So use a really dark floss.

backstitch the bird! I've stitched some of the Prairie Schooler Santas on fabric that the beards don't show as well as I would like. I backstitched them and now I'm pleased with the look.

Omg I’m so excited to be considered since I’m an international participant!! I live in the same town as caroline from Evertote. Good old London, Ontario Canada. Would love to stitch the brick!! Besides “ breakin up is hard, hard to do…”love, love your bags!! I think the scissor one!! If you end with a pin stitch you don’t require hiding as much tail at the end. I have trifocals and i use a halo light and can do 56ct no problem. Something to think about!.

My girlfriend is stitching it as well and she seems to be at a real standstill with it, and if I am lucky enough to have it come live with me, I plan to try to motivate her to stitch hers along with me. Caroline,every time I watch your flosstube I mean to ask about the painting behind you. Did you paint it, or is it a painting of you or someone you know? It really is quite beautiful. Anna I love your January sampler and I think I see a possible basket for your upcoming basket bowl project. Caroline your PD marking sampler really speaks to me because of all the quilt block motifs. So sorry for my slow reply!!!! The painting was painted by Michelle Katen who was a local artist many, many, many years ago. I absolutely love her work and have 3 of her paintings. As for the PD Marking Sampler, I designed it myself using the alphabet and motifs from historic PD samplers. I'm using it as a marking sampler for a much larger piece I plan to stitch commemorating my matrilineal line of PD women that date back to the 1700s. I'll hopefully start that large piece later this year. Happy Stitching! -Carolyn
