i've got a 350 classic here in germany and tbh nobody's interested about the lack of catalytic converters on these smaller bikes. and you're damn right about the kent cam, massive massive improvement. it took a while for everything to settle down but utterly worthwhile. i ditched the freeflow and went for the hitchcock's de-cat instead. i loved the freeflow but it was just too loud for such a well-mannered bike. i've also done the dna filter and the fuelx lite and it's perfect. best bike i ever owned, ever.
No Vulcans I’m afraid, a lot of Phantoms though! Also Thunderchiefs, Migs, and assorted US Navy aircraft from the Vietnam War Nam era. Yes, Sally sounds splendid, now she can breathe properly, and with the cam giving her full power at last. I will be upgrading Hurricane the Meteor during the summer with the cam also. Hope you are well!
Hi Steven, really enjoyed your garage video about your Enfield's current stage of Tuning. Can't wait to see your thorough road test of your classic 350 with the new cam stage3 tune, I find your videos very informative and easy to absorb. Keep up the good work, cheers Brian.
I’m glad you like my video, I am trying my best to de-mystify certain aspects of motorcycle tuning as there seems to be a lot of nonsense on the internet these days. I’m also trying to encourage people to get into modifying their chosen motorcycle, and not just accept what manufacturers offer us. Every motorcycle can be as different as their owner. Hopefully I will get some nice weather soon and be able to do a ride out video and give the old girl a full head of steam! Take care, Steven
Hi Steven, I bought a Halcyon Green 350 in November and couldn't ride it until earlier this month for a number of reasons (like I live in Pennsylvania and the weather wasn't cooperative). Anyway, I also bought the Lowride seat and put it on shortly after I got the bike. After sitting on it, waiting, of course, I didn't think it felt quite right for the motorcycle, so I put the stock seat back on it. I'm looking forward to an extended review of the Lowride seat as I may try it again. Finally, please please please let the bikes fully warm up when you start them in the winter. It's very bad to just start them for a moment and then shut them down. Water is a by-product of combustion and they need to be warmed up to burn the water off. Great video, though!
I found the Lowrider seat just as comfortable as the standard one, except I can now flat foot the bike (30 inch inseam) your best bet is to try both and see which you prefer for a long ride! (About an hour should do it!) point taken about warming up.
Brilliant video found your channel just trolling through looking at 350 Enfield. You talk a lot of sense best 30 odd minuets i've had for a long.I've got an Himalayan it's been great, Just have kind ourlook on life and to others how true that is. Enjoy your time out and about😊
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I try to make sense in my videos when it comes to motorcycle modifications. I’m trying to demystify tuning and modifications so that younger riders coming up can pick up the spanners with confidence in what they are attempting to do. There is so much rubbish and disinformation on social media about things mechanical that I feel that I can do my small part to reverse this. I’m glad you enjoyed my content and hope you stay for future videos. I only do this as a bolt on hobby to my main hobbies in the hope that I can be informative and entertain.
Great thoughts and presentation Steven, you've convinced me to get a cam now and would seem like a waste not to now it's all in bits! I've had really powerful bikes but they're kind of boring in their own way 👍
It’s always good to her. From folks with a little fitsana. On there head I’m in my 70s. But if made up my Minde to starts counting. Back. Lemay. Nelson. Vacouver. Washington North west pacific coast. USA.
You are absolutely correct i can go faster but like going along at 60 / 70 thats plenty i love cruising about coast roads at 40/50 and tend to stay away from the motorway
Hi Steven, those jets are great! An amazing collection! in this film you have just in 30 minutes answered all the misunderstandings and questions that all the curious folk want to know, and have the answers for all the nae sayers and negative commenters who say they are underpowered or that modifications are not worth doing! I cannot wait to get the cam once in stock, and as far as motorway speeds are concerned my bike has done the A9 on the stop 65-70 mph and kept up with traffic so they can do it, But yeah great film and this film needs shared as real good! Cheers Bruce 😁👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed the jets! (Some are available for sale!) Thanks for your kind words about this video, I’m glad it went towards removing some of the myths and mysteries from the Royal Enfield marque. I’ve heard so much nonsense and misinformation over the last couple of years that I couldn’t any longer stay silent, and so, after doing proper research, I’ve literally put my money where my mouth is. And I’m very glad I did, as I now have one of the only “full power” Classic 350s in Norfolk (unless anyone knows differently! Add a comment if you do!) As for motorway speeds, it is my opinion that even the Himalayan 411 can do it too, as I found myself when I had my 2019 example. I’m looking forward to seeing lots of other RE 350J riders making videos with tuned bikes over the next few months! VIVA LA SPANNER!
a long while back i spent a few miss placed years as a dispatch rider , dropped it after 180,000 miles and the romance was lost, 40 years later and in my mid sixties the royal enfield 350 classic tempted me back, and i love it , have done all the upgrades except the camshaft , but i now have that in store and look forward to testing my apprentice skills fitting it, enjoyed your chat steve and like you i try to remain kind , but fella sometimes its hard , a ride on the bike really does float the woes away
I hear what you are saying about staying kind ! Some folks make it very difficult sometimes, but that’s where our age and experience comes in. It’s always marvellous to get on the bike in our retirement years, especially when you ride a Royal Enfield that turns the clock back to a simpler time. A nice bimble on a motorcycle always makes the world a better place!
Hi Steve, it’s definitely like you said most things haven’t really changed, improving the intake, exhaust and cam has always helped an engine perform better the only thing different now is the injection is hampered by emission restrictions, you can’t just alter the jets to suit, still worth doing though 😂 all the best 👍
Morning Steven. Great garage video, that free flow exhaust on Mustang Sally does sound good, can’t wait to take her out for a spin 😎. As for motorway riding, I prefer to avoid them where possible, just because I don’t like them, not because Clementine can’t do them 😅
Great informative video thanks. The stage 3 mods are very appealing, and great for hills and overtakes. I have no option but to use faster roads and dual carriageways to get to better riding roads, so an extra 10mph or so top end in hand would be safer rather than hittiing a 70mph ECU-limited brick wall while being tail-gated by delivery vans.
Please note, stage 3 tune only increases the torque through the rev range to vastly improve acceleration. The top speed will remain at 75mph because of the built in speed limit programmed in to the ECU. I’m currently researching a fix for this issue too, but I don’t have the data yet.
Hi Steven. Great chat, with your knowledge. Thoroughly enjoyed. I don’t have the fuel X fitted. But will order and get mechanic to fit. Will leave the cam till service time, and the valves checked at the same time, be more cost effective, for me, I guess May, I ask which insurance company you use? Just wish I get my lowered seat from Tom.😊 Best wishes Steven.😊
Thanks Steven, useful information, I just need a J Series bike now to put it into practice. I'm very happy with my Bullet 500 but I'm going to need something to give Bobby a rest now and then. The only good reasons to ride on a motorway are to get to the other side of a city without getting caught up in congestion or to get where you're going a bit quicker because you're late. With careful planning they can easily be avoided but they're handy when your plans go awry. Cheers, Mick
I'll have to sell my GSA first, which means I'll have to put it back together, then I'll probably want to keep it. Perhaps a good second hand Hunter will turn up 😊
Hi Steve, thanks for the information,I agree with you when you get to the 3score & 10 years you do tend to enjoy yourself and slow down, I have hunter starting to play like you done the filter cam next (got it)then fuel ex and it goes on until missio accomplished, I come from Morecambe bay and have just named myself Bay Bimbler, and getting to grips with cameras and editing so soon would ave my first vlog you take care and look forward to more Norfolk wisdom
Well, it’s certainly right that age makes you look at life differently! Have fun with the tuning parts, it’s well worth the effort. Also have fun setting up your UA-cam channel. You don’t have to put out a lot at any one time. Just make little videos as and when you are ready, and most importantly, have fun doing it. You don’t have to please everyone, just yourself. There are plenty of people who will offer advice, all you have to do is ask and someone on UA-cam will help. We all try to help each other on here if we can. Thank you for your kind words, they are very much appreciated!

The 350j is lovely on the motorway 65mph is plenty and still enough left to pass slow Trucks 😊 I have overtaken you Thunderbolt well age wise 😅😅😅
Evening Steve 😊 Sally sounds very loud, and Hurricane took her time turning that old V12 over love your cold war jets. Are they all Vulcans 😊 👍

Half the fun is the tinkering and fettling! Of course you know that already!

Great video Steven learned a lot about Stage 2 and Stage 3 tuning. Brilliant 👍
Hope it helps! Thank you for watching!

Enjoyed that, I too was wondering if there were (many) hills in Norfolk. I learned a lot, Merci Beaucoup. Ride safe.
There are hills in Norfolk, but not enough to keep Mountain Rescue busy…..😂
Steven, are there any hills in Norfolk 😊😊
Not any more, I had them specially flattened that time I owned a Harley Davidson! 😂
@@TheNorfolkThunderbolt 🤣🤣🤣
I have a meteor 350 and i can vouch that they can do just south of 90
Very good natter Steven 👍
Hi Steve some good information here good chat 👍🏍️

Yes, I’m pretty much the same way about motorways, I did more than my fair share of motorway miles when I was a dispatch rider….

With the mods done, the J series can go anywhere!
Also, with the discount now available, a new RE Classic has never been cheaper!
