Tried one on my seven string, was a bit disappointed. The saddles were short and the 7th saddle was maxed out on the intonation and the note was still sharp at the 12th fret. Had to put the Gibraltar back.
@@TheMisanthropist432 Drop g#, that's a half step down from drop A on a seven string. And my guitar is 27 inch scale by the way, intonation should never have been an issue at this tuning. I like how the base plate has variable heights for the saddles to match the radius on a Gibraltar, also the saddles are tall enough and the hex screws are easily accessible for intonation. But the Hipshot definitely has way more mass and is more sonorous.
I have just received mine for Ibanez RGA42FM (Hipshot Ibby FP). As first impression, I'm disappointed because when you pay 120 euro for a piece of metal you expect at least the packaging to exists. Basically I've got the bridge, a piece of paper and a small plastic bag with the screws. There is nowhere any brand on it. Second and the most annoying is the color of the screws and springs. Even the black bridge is coming with shiny stainless steel screws and springs which is relay ugly. I am thinking to use the ones from the original bridge but I don't know if the tune will be affected. What is the contribution of this springs that hold the saddles?
