My switch is hidden they would have to spend way too much time trying to figure it out and it wouldn't be worth it they'll just move on to the next thing. They are not ripping out the button because the ones with the button can’t be stolen. SMH 🤦‍♂️

    I am very confident that this is incorrect reporting, typical of news media.
    The vehicles affected are the ones that use a blade type ignition key, not the push button start ones. The reason for it is that the keyless ignition needs to have a transponder provide an "okay to start" signal whereas the blade types do not.

    • @paulstandaert5709
      @paulstandaert5709 2 роки тому +24

      @@d_all_in Ummm.... because it doesn't?
      The USB A connector they use just happens to fit into a busted up lock cylinder... just like how that old junker car from back in the day could be started with using a flat blade screw driver.
      It is very common on vehicles with no immobilizer system to be able to unplug wires from the ignition switch (not lock cylinder) and "hotwire" it with paperclips to get it started. That's the easy part. The other problem is unlocking the steering column. This is where brute force comes in.
      With the push button start, you literally need to create a digital signal to input into a module to tell it, "Hey, I have a valid key here." A USB A connector isn't going to do that.
