The documentary about this park called Closed for Storm by Jake from Bright Sun Films is coming out later this year. I can’t wait!
I was just thinking about that lol
Really
Same here, cant wait
Good to know thank you
norweeg I looked for a trailer on here but I can’t find anything. Do you know anything?
During our cross country relocation in our RV in the Summer of 05, i took my two kids there that summer. I really liked the place. Sad it could not come back after the terrible hurricane that washed it away. Thank you for showing me what it looks like today. All those jobs lost to history.
This was my Disneyland growing up. So sad to see it in this state. Went to Jazzland a few times and then several times when it was six flags. My last visit was just a few months before Katrina hit, the week I graduated high school. Nice aerial footage, love all that you do!
Amazing how fast nature reclaims what’s hers!! Great drone footage!!
Loved your take of it. Really looking forward to the 'Closed for Weather' documentary by Jake from Bright Sun Films on this park.
Great drone footage! Lots of activity going on; you can clearly see that they're repainting and sprucing up some of the buildings in the park's entranceway. I thought it was a film crew at first but you can also see metal trash disposal units around the kids area at 5:40. So either The Paidia Company finally bought the place and they're cleaning it up or they're prepping the place for demolition. I really hope it's the first option.
The music is groovy, man! This is great stuff!
Awe man, you should’ve tried to fly the drone through the loop of the coaster! Maybe next time! Cool vid though, love this kind of stuff!
Fascinating although eerie filming. Love the music too. Well done & thanks, CB, from the UK xxx
I'm obsessed with this place. I've always wanted to do an urban exploration there. Tbh, if I were rich I'd buy the land, hire my own security, build a house in the middle of the park and live there and let the park naturally decay :)
Whow what a waste. Love the jazzed up music. Drones are very useful for this kind of look around of this vast area. Great vlog!!!
Bird: oh, hey Possum.
Possum:Hey Bernie I thought that was u.
Bird: Bout to go get my dinner in the lake, later P.
Possum:Later B.
Oooooo. This is a really cool rendition of your theme song! Super jazzy. Love it!
This was really good. I'll bet you wanted to go in . I'd like to . This old park is so interesting. I'm fascinated by it. Cheers!
Very nice drone footage. The park is a lot bigger than I thought. Amazing to see all those rides just rotting. Seems like the city could do something. But that takes $
Been to that park several times. Many years ago. Fun memories. Love the music. Great drone shots. Hurricane Katrina wiped out entirel Gulf coast. Lost much to storm that was never to be replaced or rebuilt. Shame park was never to be reopened. Thank you for the tour. Perhaps while you are there you can sneak in a Mardi Gras parade.
@Hippie Sunshine thank you for responding. My mother & I live in Gulfport, MS. About a mile from the beach & we stayed put. Didnt evacuate. No flooding in our neighborhood. Only the neighbors oak tree came down on house. Smashing my mother's bedroom window & damaged the roof. Mississippi Gulf Coast was wiped off the map. No one knew how bad it was until they got down here. Very little news coverage. Still trying to rebuild. Much won't be replaced. The park was written off.. Lost historical structures of every kind. Over 130 lost their lives here. In Louisiana, they don't even know.
@Dale McComb First of all, I don't live in New Orleans. I don't live in Louisiana. I live in mississippi. I was born & raised there. I've grown up seeing & hearing about Nee Orelans on the news. I was talking about the devastation hurricane Katrina did to my city & my state. The entire gulf coat was hit & hit hard. Still trying to recover from it. Crime rate or not, the financial impact is still being felt after all these years. Never to recover. The loss of lives when katrina went thru my state, of mississippi, was over 130 people Perhaps you should direct your commrnts somewhere else.. We weren't talking to you, n the first place. You were the one that butted in. Living thru a category 5 hurricane & its aftermath isn't something I would recommend to snyone & I'm talking from my own experience.
@Dale McComb perhaps you should get your own city, in order, befor you criticize someone's city or state.
@Dale McComb Not on welfare. I work for a living. I don't have time to date. Thank you for asking. Perhaps you should do the same. Instead of bullying & harassing other people on line.
The jazz theme over music not sure if it made it more or less creepy. The one thing I really liked was the safety factor always send a drone in stead of a human. No danger to yourself so you can bring us more awesome videos in the future.
That drone footage was amazing thankyou Jacob x
I had season tickets to this place in highschool! Nice to see it.
We like your new drone music. Your theme song has a super mario flavor to it. 😀👍🏽
I did a video on this about a year ago. Now a year later after seeing this video the park continues to wither away more and more everytime I see it.
“Follow.....me” favorite part always lol
Outstanding drone work 👍 really big place. Keep up the great work 👍
Sad to think of how many jobs were lost because the park didn't reopen. Love the Possum 3 vids!
The city actually tried to sue them to force they rebuild at one point. The damage is insane mold, corrosion, warped wood, rust, possible environmental issues and that was not long after the water receeded. They thought about it but ultimately the risk of injury and liability would require virtually everything be razed and start over.
Why aren't they being forced to deal with the trash they left behind. I didn't get to just abandon my house
Sam Chandler LLC it was Katrina that caused the trash, not Six Flags
@@samchandlerllc5104 exactly
I like how this video is more upbeat than most of the others taken by folks who've visited this place over the years.
Jacob, really enjoyed your video! I've seen lots of explorers go in there making videos. Awesome drone footage!
3:00 - 8:53
Here's that snazzy music loop you must've wanted
Good video! Nice to see something new uploaded in 2020. If I win the lottery, I'd love to fix the place up and re-open. There is no problem you can't throw a bunch of money at to solve! First, you have to fix the water problem so it doesn't happen again, then you have to evict the gators living in there. Maybe when I retire. I bet I could get a good deal on the land!🤔
Another great video! I love that even though you can't go inside you still take us inside. Thank you for all that you do! 😁
I loved your video!! Thank you for sharing this with the world. I am fascinated with this park.
I noticed a lot of cars and trucks inside and outside of the park. Could possibly be like you said some Hollywood big wigs or something. Would have been cool if someone would let you in to look around. Great Drone Footage BTW
Jacob you in for Mardi Gras again? The Chewbacchus parade was this past weekend. I'm glad you didn't try and go in there, Six Flags NO is infamous and pretty heavily patrolled these days.
This video really gives a good sense of scale as to how massive this place really is. It's a shame I'll probably never be able to explore it in person, but that's why I'm thankful for people like you 😌
Seems to be some activity there. Great shots. Im surprised they are not required to clear the area. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
I love your abandoned videos, Jacob! Thank you!
that was great!! good soundtrack
Awesome video man
I am going to be singing that background music ( jazzy tune) all day long now. It's stuck in my head! 😄 Thanks Possum 3! Very eerie to see what once was.
Nice drone footage ✌🏻
Very cool look at the park. Thanks jacob.
I drove past here in 2008 and snapped a picture. This got me into abandoned places
I’ve always been fascinated by it ever since I first heard of it. I however, wrote a novel set in a near future where the Paidia Plan got the park open in 2018, which was also the beginnings of a war with North Korea that got started during the Winter Games of that year that lasted for 5 years, with the story picking up leading up to Memorial Day weekend of 2025 where Paidia’s main rivals decide to try and steal the park again (the chain has since merged with SeaWorld, Sesame Workshop, Power Rangers, Kentucky Kingdom-after Ed Hart passes [they tried to make it a Busch Gardens but failed], as well as having a system guard the Nick Time Capsule in the bayou (something happened en route to Burbank so it was buried in New Orleans). It’s based off Jeff Dixon Fantasy-Fiction “faction” novel series combing facts with original characters and timeline changes with real parks and the people associated with them (I did rename a few IRL people, but the execs and my inner circle remain unchanged-which leaves 2 characters named Zoe in the same story)
Sounds interesting!
The Jester ride looks cool. It reminds me of the bat at wonderland
The most recent thing I can recall happening in the park is that the rapper NF was able to use it in the music video for his song "Leave Me Alone"
Good one Jacob 😎👍🏻
Sadly this place has probably made more money renting it out to movie productions than it did when it was open
Hi Carpetbagger! Thank u for the postcard, I love them all.
Cool video .
There definitely some construction of some sort going on or something all the vehicles and trailers inside the park
Our next FEMA camp most likely.
Very cool. I would so be sneaking in there if I was there.
Hey carpetbagger, my husband was wondering what drone you are using?? Love this video. 60 miles away from us and frequented this park with my children often from the time it opened till it's closing. Thank you for bringing back memories!
I remember going there when I was little A few times it was so much fun All the way in New Orleans East it was a drive to get down there but it was fun I remember ridding them rides too..... it looks like they’re doing something now?
Hi Jacob cool and awesome vlog at abandoned six flags at the New Orleans amusement park👍🏻😺
I agree so sad to see it in that rate of decay and abandon it must have brought alot of great memories before thanks so much for the footage carpetbagger.🙂
For a place that is closed I see a lot of activity and the cleanest walkways.
This is quality shiznit! Thank you!
I worked at a six flags park decades ago. The profit margin is razor thin because six flags is a subsiduary of a subsiduary of a giant corporation ( not a typo). Thus, after katrina it just wasn't cost effective for a corporation leveraged to the hilt to rebuild.
Just like the former 6 flags park in Houston, it had become run down, completely milked dry.
So, why are 6 flags parks shut down or never rebuilt?
1) Unlike Disney, the rides aren't bought outright, they are financed. Add interest to a 25 million dollar ride-you get the idea.
2) Six Flags has to pay it's shareholders.
3) Six Flags has to pay it's parent corporation for use of copyrighted characters, bugs bunny, etc.
4) Then, of course, there are all of the other costs for a corporation, taxes, insurance, 401k costs for full time employees, etc.
Think of this, you get on a ride at a 6 flags park. Lots of moving parts that wear out. The high need for proper maintenance. Then, look at the vehicles that 6 flags maintenance people drive to work. When you see how run down and poorly maintained they are it makes you think twice about getting on a 6 flags ride.
I just ♡♡♡ him!
they're filming a movie there right now.
Wasn't Zombieland filmed there.. well, that part lol? :P
Great video 👍
Creepy van In The beginning is a nice touch
It’s a shame the government of New Orleans is so corrupt. There is a company that want to restore it but their corruption won’t let them.
Genuinely surprised that it looks that good from the intro I assumed it was trashed, I wonder why they didn’t fix it
See comments above
I really like the jazz land version of The Carpetbagger theme song. Are you going to incorporate into more of your videos? It’s catchy. 🎵
I am going to be in New Orleans this weekend celebrating my birthday it would be pretty cool to meet you
Not gonna lie, it is in better condition than I thought it was going to be seeing that it was hit by Katrina
I'm surprised there are rides and buildings still standing. The Six Flags in Ohio closed about the same time and there is nothing left.
Amish Sailor they took anything of value that wasn’t ruined in the hurricane and resulting flood
Que pasa Jacob! What instrument Song did you play for your vlog. Pretty catchy.
I remember riding that old wooden coaster asking God if I lived I would never ride it again! And I never did!
Its been talks about sixflags retaking over this park or cedar point eventually it will be back up running
Not going to happen. There's a company wanting to rebuild and refurb it, but the city is giving them all kinds of red tape and the cold shoulder on it.
Six flags wont take it on bc it will almost have to be completely rebuilt and they aren't in the business of building parks from the ground up.
I doubt Cedar Fair wants anything to do with it either.
I found you through Adam the Woo and I found him through his video about this. FULL CIRCLE LOL
I can only imagine how many abandon explores are in there taking pictures that you scared the shit out of because of your drone. 😂 LOL a lot of the police just ssenddrones over to make sure that there are people before they waste their time going in, so I bet you a lot of them thought that you were police Love the videos, i live near indiana beach, come back sometime!!
So sad. Great video btw
And in the early 80's it was a small amusement park called 'Pontchartrain Beach". It had the loop roller coaster called "The Rajun Cajun".
That’s at blue bayou now idk If it’s the same coaster but it has that name
As soon as I saw you were getting close to my area, I wondered where you'd be next. One of my viewers met you today at a certain amusement park. I missed you by a week. I'll be at unsaid park next weekend.
Passed by there once a month going to Belle Chase La for Reserve weekend. What kind of drone are you using. Amazing shots!
Welcome to my neck of the woods! I hate seeing my "homepark" in this shape.
The Carpetbagger, Did you visit UNIVERSAL STUDIOS or DISNEYWORLD before?
4:13 just fly to that man on the bottom right to see his reaction
Awesome
Saw you uploaded....me...click, read title I squealed and click hard! Eeeeeekkkkk classic bagger! Saw the RV pulling in behind you and said.....large Marge? Lol, thank possum 3!
The stale ponds scare me knowing what's prob in that water...yikes....
This was cool. I've always been interested in abandoned Six Flags...
I think SFNO is under demolition and all those vans and dumpsters makes me think a company has taken the abandoned park
Nice.
Adam the woo did a vlog inside some years ago.
There are several videos by explorers in this park. As a Coaster lover, it is a sad shame what became of this park.
A bit late, but still cool.
Nice video 👌
Seems like it may have not been doing all that well if Six Flags didn't rush to rebuild it. Looks like the company took the insurance money and left New Orleans a big mess to clean up. 😕
SF didn't build it. They added onto an existing park.
@@OutdoorsWithShawn True six flags didn't build it originally, but for that name to be put on the park, Six Flags would have to have a controlling interest in the park if they didn't own it outright. The fact that they are not doing anything with the land years after Katrina indicates that they've walked away from it.
@@deniseboldea1624 they bought the park from Jazzland, added onto it and had expansion plans for it & had a 75yr lease with the city on it. After Katrina, they salvaged what they could from the park and bought out of the lease with the city for the land.
They washed their hands clean of it over 10yrs ago
@@OutdoorsWithShawn That's the point, they walked away and left New Orleans to clean up the mess. And you can bet that Six Flags had a huge insurance policy on the place, So even with the buyout, Six Flags got the better end of the deal.
@@deniseboldea1624 New Orleans let them walk away from the lease (shady doings of Nagin the previous mayor). Its all on New Orleans and not SF. They could have made them honor the lease and clean up the area, but the city chose to accept the money, aka bribe, to get out of it.
I visited here with my 8th grade class in 2003!
The surrounding area is a popular spot to dump vehicles and set them on fire.
I was just in New Orleans 2 days ago you should go to the ww2 museum
The carpet bagger can u please visit the Walt Disney archives I wanna see the country bear jamboree from Disney land
What’s up Jacob? From Spartanburg SC.
Awesome video what type of drone are you using? Keep up the good work
White van scoping you😁
I've heard the park has a gator problem now. Probably filming somthing there now.
Cool video Jacob it looks like was a good six flags park I wonder if New Orleans and six flags would bring it back look like a chance their could try to make it happen
Ed Dunaway maybe another company, but definitely not Six Flags.....they're loooooooong gone from here.
