    Thanks for this video! I bought a new fridge just like this with the same issue. I took the time to diagnose the issue as the same thing you had with the water line freezing, but since it was under warranty called the GE repair line to schedule service so I didn’t have to pay for it. Unbelievably, the repair guy didn’t believe me when I explained to him what was wrong, what pieve was needed, and why, insisting the ice maker machine itself was broken, despite it always making ice once only to freeze. I ended buying the line myself and installing it and its all fixed! And the GE repair company keeps calling me trying to schedule a appointment to replace my ice maker as they mailed me a new one lol. What a useless warranty.

    Another thing you should know about mine, when we turn the icemaker back on for the bottom icemaker it doesn’t make ice. It just makes a sheet of ice on the ice cube drawer . So I’m definitely getting water. And it’s possibly the fill valve.

    There are two valves because some fridges have in door water and ice as well as freezer ice. So your electro valve you were referring to, had second valve for water and Ice in door.
    I have the opposite set up. Water and ice in door, and I'm going to be adding a freezer ice maker, and will be adding the valve like you have. Thanks for the thorough video

    Excellent video. Thanks for making this. Getting ready to start trouble shooting my ice maker. Like you my issue started after turning off the water when going on vacation without turning off the ice maker. Not actually sure if turning off the ice maker before turning off the water is recommended but that's when my issues started. The water is getting to the ice maker bc water went into the ice tray and bottom of the freezer and frooze. Hopefully it's just ice blocking the water inlet.

    My coil is reading 177 ohms. I bought another one and it is also 177 ohms. I have 120 volts on the coil but no water will go though the valve. Also. When I hit the full limit on the ice maker the power does not turn off to the valve. I think the ice maker limit doesn't turn off properly. Since there is always voltage on the coil I think the coil burnt up.

    • @NashwaukSteve
      @NashwaukSteve  Рік тому +1

    • @barryginsburg2210
      @barryginsburg2210 Рік тому +2

      Thanks and you were right. My line/grommet was lower on the back than yours but the line I bought worked. My connection at the valve was a bit different as well. For those who have my set up, there was a "c" type snap ring that simply pulled off with a needle nose pliers, and then line came off using open end wrench to push the connector down (toward the valve) and the water line twisted off nicely.
      Need to remove ice maker to get to install new line with heat tape. A bit tricky to feed the new line with heat tape and electric connection back in but it worked. Now ice and more ice. Thanks for the original video it saved me from a costly service call.

    My ice maker (some model newer version) is producing ice but making a repetitive clicking noise. I am thawing the fridge now, but heard it could be caused by mineral build up on some kind of ice shaping tray? Anyone run into this? • @NashwaukSteve
      @NashwaukSteve  3 роки тому +1

      Hello! Not sure what you mean exactly, but it should be filling automatically from the water supply when it is “on”. Either it’s not getting water to the cube tray or something is causing the frozen cubes to stay in the tray. It’s also possible that the cutout lever is tripped, causing if you stop cube production. Good luck with the troubleshooting!

      Hi Joe- does it overflow the freezing tray with water, or do you mean it just makes ice forever? If the freezing tray is overflowing, I’d start with the fill valve in the back of the freezer. It might be sticking open. If it’s making eternal ice, something is wrong with your cutout bar switch. A full ice bin should physically activate a switch to stop the ice-making cycle. Either the ice isn’t triggering the switch or the switch is bad. Good luck with the adventure!
