This is the best review of the tygr headphones on youtube. And i watched all of them. I had beyerdynamic headphones before and didnt quite like any of them so I returned all of them. I hated the highs on the dt 990. I liked the analytical quality of the dt 880 but as you said, it wasn't really fun to listen to and still it had a little bit of a problem with harsh peaks. Not as harsh as the dt 990 for sure but still. Few months ago I picked up the Tygr thinking of probably returning it again, but I was amazed of how good it is. It got all the good things from the dt 990 like the fun signature but without the unbearingly harsh highs. Can't recommend it enough.
Great channel. Extremely few reviewers ever mention how headphones are for gaming. Btw, have the Beyer MMX II's closed backs with microphone, and they are great. They should do a version of the Tygr with a mic, and it would be a winner.

@@lemonsmemes5856 asking if a set of stereo headphones is "like surround sound" is a loaded question. surround sound would indicate multiple drivers, which obviously is not the case in a set of stereo headphones. imaging in stereo headphones is referencing the positional acuity. when it comes to accurately indicating localized sounds in a stereo environment - it's awesome. not many headphones image better..... some that come to mind; Denon AH-D7200, Hd800/800S, DT 1990...... that help?

Top tier quality review. You deserve much more recognition, then you currently have. I'm one of these new folks, which watched all available reviews for TYGR's and finally reached the safehaven of your channel, which includes a well explained frequency response, that's a gem and kudos to you for that! I'm gaming a lot, but at the same time, I wish for an all-rounder and I believe the TYGR 300R will deliver. I'm an avid Metal Fan mixed with Electronic Rock, Industrials and a lot more. I'm well aware that a "True" all rounder would cost me 3-4x the price, not to mention a proper dac/amp combo to make it, actually deliver. I thought about trying out Audeze Mobius or perhaps the bluetooth less HyperX variant, but looking at the TYGR's and then the mixed feedback from the owners of Audeze makes me rethink that approach :) If time and budget allows, please review MMX 300 Gen2 as well! On a side-note if you'll have some time to spare, I'd want to ask you for some advice if possible. Do you have any recommendations for an AMP/DAC combo, which would benefit these the most? (TYGR's) I have an old Audio Solutions SP103 amp, but it's not certainly the best option for this scenario. My PC onboard is a beefed up Realtek ALC1220 on ASROCK Z270 Extreme4. I thought about getting a dedicated audio card like AIM SC808 or a Xonar Essence STX, but then I got caught in the more quality standpoint. No onboard or external audio card can replace a proper dac/amp combo. Currently I would be able to throw 330$ for a DAC/AMP combo, or buy a DAC first and then an AMP, if there are better options in that regard. On the upside the TYGR's are not so hard to drive. Once again it's a rarity to see a UA-cam content creator replying back to 2months old posts in their channel, I'm honored.
I have only reviewed the hyper x alpha s. I tend to avoid gaming headsets but some are getting better. I have not tried the mobius, as I don't care for it's built in DAC solution and plethora of gimmicky features. With the Tygr being so easy to drive, I think you have a lot of options and should focus on feature set. If you want something that offers XLR mic input for potential future use - the MOTU M2 is an amazing unit with a very clean headphone amp. It lacks a little power - but not something to worry about until you get to around 300 ohm headphones (assuming fairly efficient). The JDS Labs Atom amp and DAC are very good value for the price. Highly recommended. Honestly, make sure to try that mobo audio. If you don't notice a deficiency, use that. People often pay for WAY more than they need or can perceive.

Schiit Hel / It's getting amazing opinions on multiple sources and has serious power, at least until we reach 300 ohm 2. Motu M2 / This little beast has a Sabre32 ESS Ultra... Wow! 3. JDS Labs Atom Dac/Amp - I'll check them out really quick! 4. Schiit Magni/Modi - Thought about these as well. 5. If money allows, them maybe Schiit Magnius and Modius (amp dac/combo). not an easy decision! tygr is better for both single player and competitive gaming. 6XX is better for rock. tygr better for electronic. i prefer the tygr, but many will prefer the natural tone and timbre of the 6XX. hope that helps!
300R sound like the most enjoyable beyer to me and I would have fun modding them too with a detachable wire, perhaps balanced even going into each cup and get rid of the default beyer loopty doo wire that comes out of the cups and across the headband. And theyre real affordable too.... IF ONLY Beyer actually wanted to sell them, they would not force the silly team tygr bundle with the fox mic on people. Imagine if car manufacturer did this and went like Car company: oh no no these people over there can have our car by itself like one would expect, but everyone else has to buy it bundled with OUR garage and pressure washer bundle. Customer: ... but I already have a gara.. Car Company: YOULL HAVE TWO GARAGES THEN! AMAZing, buy now its the ultimate enthusiast bundle, the pressure washer is pretty darn good.
Since these are basically 990's with a treble filter, do you think it might a good idea to skip the TYGR and just throw the TYGR filter on a pair of 600 ohm 990's? (for people who already have a competent source chain) edit: I've since learned more about the internals, and it seems a bit more complicated than just a treble filtered 990. They placed a 990 driver in the 880's cup housing (double the damping material vs the 990 housing). Then they added the 177x GO treble filter and the headband from the Custom One. It would be interesting to replace the stock driver with the 600ohm 990, and enjoy the tuning benefits of the TYGR at an enhanced level of detail
Love the video! 🔥 How do these compare to the DT 900 PRO X for gaming, music, and specifically for isochronic/binaural tones? Which of the two would be less likely to aggravate tinnitus for those who suffer from it on a daily basis?
In that regard, it will beat the 400i for sure. The 38X I need to test, but I bet they are very close. Having not tested the 38X, I would anticipate the Tygr being a more "fun" sound and more of a jack of all trades. I would go that route if you don't need the built in mic. If you do need the mic, the 38X seems a great value.

Honestly, I feel like the 38x is being shilled hard, most of the big audiophile channels have some partnership with Sennheiser EPOS or Drop, almost as good as the HD800S or the audio technica ATH-AD 2000x imaging/soundstage wise using the drivers of the mediocre GSP 500? I'm skeptical. It's fine, they have to pay some bills, but certainly changes how I now approach their content, not as reviewers anymore but as influencers. You're one of the few small audiophile channels (alongside max settings, Metal 751 etc...) that have yet to reach influencer status so I trust you for reviewing the 38x as you probably haven't partnered, I don't see any affiliate links and free review units being sent your way =P. After watching 100's of reviews on all sorts of audio gear, I've narrowed my search down to the Beyerdynamic 880 premium 600 Ω and the Tygr 300r. Context: My old pair for the past 4 years has been the 598 cs closed-back from Sennheiser and they've been a really good pair to own (I'm not an audiophile xD). I play a lot of FPS games like CS:GO and Rainbow Six Siege, but I also play League of Legends, which when I play league I enjoy listening to music. If I go for the 300's then I don't have to buy an amp, and I can hook them up to my Rode NT USB mic, but if I go for the 880 600Ω variant, then I'd probably buy a liquid spark amp and a e30 from Topping. Which one would you prefer from your experienced standpoint since I don't come from an audiophile background (Also I prefer to listen to Pop, Country/Folk/Rock, and a little bit of electronic. Also I plan on trying to get a deal on Black Friday if that's possible :D).
two great options. the Tygr will be more "fun" with the music you like. Also, function and use case should always play a huge roll in purchasing decisions. If you can by the Tygr and not have to buy anything else , that would be a pretty easy decision for me. Tough to go wrong either way.
Great review! I can't seem to find the TYGR anywhere in Canada but I'm going to keep looking. Did you see Beyer launched the T1 gen3? 32ohm and sound signature seems closer to this one than Beyer's of the past. I wonder how much more resolving the T1 gen3 is than the TYGR. A lot of people on online forums are upset with the change from 600ohm to 32ohm as they fear for loss in resolution.
thank you! the new t1 seems interesting. I like the thought of the new tuning, but I also worry about a 32ohm voice coil in a flag ship headphone. it can work though. Denon's 7200 is something like 25 ohms and one of the most resolving headphones on the market. i'll check them out soon enough.
This voice probably summarizes more or less how the tygr sound like. Somewhat smooth, warm-ish, bit stingy treble at times but still a roll off towards the end.
I've watched this video three times already. Definitely the best TYGR 300r review on youtube. Can I ask you a question? I just bought the TYGR's directly from the german factory all the way from South Africa. Been looking for a companion to the HD600's - something of an opposite nature with a bit of rumble in the low end and a wide soundstage that's easier to drive. Would like to use them with electronic music and keep the 600's for classical. I thought the Fidelio X2's would fit the bill, but on a I sprang on these instead. Did I make a good choice with these? It was very impulsive.

The Tygr 300R is technically superior to the X2 in every way. I think it will fill the exact complimentary role you are looking for.

The biggest problem with reviewers these days is the "link in the description" plague. I've found channels where everything remotely better than average is praised as if it's the end-all headphone in order to get the revenue from amazon. So people jump to buy them. This just creates unbalanced reviews in my opinion.

The color scheme reminds to my k712, but sound could be different since is more mid-forward than tygr 300. It would be interesting a comparison between this two since audiophile community tag them as "fun" headphones.

I'm planning on picking these headphones up since I'm mainly going to be using these for gaming and listening to music. I'm new to the higher end audio headphones, do I need to get anything extra to run these headphones?
Admittedly, I did not try it. However, they should power easy enough. They are very efficient drivers and low impedance. I would be shocked if the controller didn't handle them just fine.

Great review. Maybe just in my head, but when I first got these, they seemed very muddy in the mid bass...I let them run on their own at a little higher volume. When I came back to listen again, it seemed like the break in had fixed most of the issues I was hearing... Has anyone else noticed this?
The 7200 is more resolving, has more bass, less treble and better imaging. The Tygr is more comfortable. The 7200 has a ringing at 2.5kz that bothers some. The Tygr has the peak at 8k that will bother some. Neither will bother most. The 7200 is MUCH more sensitive and runs off less power.
I’m still confused as to why you don’t have more subscribers! Thanks for providing us with the content that other youtubers should but don’t offer. Saying that, I doubt they’d be able to make such detailed videos and answer our questions as kindly as you do. Your help is much appreciated!
Hey, do you have a recommendation for a good closed-back counterpart to the TYGR 300R, below 200€? I might need closed back headphones for evening sessions. I looked at the DT 770 Pro, but I think that the trebble would be too annoying for me. Other than gaming, I would use them for listening to Hip Hop and some Jazz.

My Tygr will arrive tomorrow and im really exited and worried to try them haha. Coming from my HD681, i wanted to get a little deeper into audio stuff. I got some 770 80ohm and sound wise, i really liked them, but the bass was way to hard. If i listen to bass heavy music ontop , they even went as far as hearing the membrane rattle slightly. Needed to eq them down and they were fine BUT... i could not stand the closed back feeling. Maybe for just music, i can adapt but for gaming aswell...i could not speak because i cant hear my own voice. i get too loud, i stutter...it was kind of unusable for games, so i returned them. But i knew a little more what i wanted. Basicly open 770s that are a little more flat, 990s sadly are unusable...the treble is...a joke. The 880s look so interesting but i was so scared to order them just because i fear that they could be exhausting to listen to and their bright sound signature could make them too situational for a lot of music. I tried a few sennheiser at a local store but honestly...they just sounded boring to me. almost as if you re listening to music while standing inside some fog of war lol. I was like: lets save up some money and buy 1990s then. And then my attention was on the tygr, wich i did not even know about before. I was mainly looking for headphones for ''AUDIO'' if they game well, thats a bonus. But usually audio people dont look at stuff that has a gaming label on them. The more i read about them tho, the more i thought like: damn these actually sound like what i was looking for. open back, not as agressive as 770s (probably because the closed back bass) less treable as the 990s but still not AS bright flat sounding as the 880s. The 32ohm does bother me tho, since i cant reallt tell how much impact that has on resolution. But then on the other side... if i end up liking them, does it really matter? Wouldnt that be a good thing overall? If i get something that satisfies me without the need of more amp power...thats a good thing. I m not an audio equipment testing person. I dont plan on owning 10 different headphones. So an dedicated dac/amp for 1-2 headphones is a pretty hefty investment on top. I do have an audio interface i m happy with, the yamaha ag03. Its not perfect, but it does its job...but it has terrible headphone amps. the 80ohm version.. no problems. But i wouldnt put 250ohms on this thing. This in return would mean: if i go lets say the 1990 route, i would need to buy a new dac, a new amp ontop wich results in not a 400 euro bstock headphone but a 650 euro bstock headphone. Thats a shitton of money in comparison to a Tygr thats 110 Euros bstock on the beyer store. And since my plan of getting more into audio gear also includes a better speaker setup, i want to replace my old active nearfields with some amped passive speakers with more punch, something like Klipsch RP500M wich are 400 a pair... i could literally buy a pair of Klipsch RP500M, the Tygr AND still have 140 bucks left to get some decent stereo amp to drive them... for the same price i would pay for just the amped 1990s. And this overall sounds like a way better overall package value wise. I really hope i will like them
@@CoasterCoat No. I cant say if it was a broken product or not but they sounded objectively terrible, was sending them back the next day and for now just staying with my 681 because they are actually better that what ive tried now, either wasting money on stuff i dont need because its no if barely an improvement or i save money to actually go a tier or 2 up
@@CoasterCoat yes. With the EQ i have on them and aftermarket earpads they sound SO good. the dt770 where better than the tygrs in sound but still more like a sidegrade to the 681. Not worth the price difference
I have not. They look interesting. One, external magnet array, so it's not going to revolutionize the price point. My guess is they are good for single player but not competitive.
This might be just a preference but the old font you've used on thumbnails was much better than this. This just feels outdated and it's also hard to read sometimes. I feel like you need to step up in thumbnail game in general, better thumbnails could appeal more people. Photos are getting good but the fonts are too flashy and crowded that I can't even see the photo, more clean look might be better. Personally I'm not a fan of your channel logo too, not sure what could be change but I don't like the font you used, it (again) feels bit outdated to me.
A Beyer that doesn't have murderous amounts of treble, SIGN ME UP! How does the Tygr size up against the Beyerdynamic DT 177X GO for fps gaming? Is this a fair Imaging ranking of Beyers: 1990 pro > Tygr > DT 177XGO > DT 880 ? What about soundstage ranking ? 1990 pro > ? (never owned a beyer) Looks like I finally found an affordable upgrade for my Audio Technica ATH-ADG1x for FPS gaming, cuz times are hard not gonna upgrade to an ATH-2000x, even less to a Beyer DT 1990 Pro (I'm treble sensitive) let alone the godlike Senn HD800s gotta be fiscally responsible lol.
For imaging I would say 1990>Tygr=177X>880 but they are all so close, it really shouldn't even be a determining factor. They all image very well. Soundstage 1990>Tygr=880>177X - first three all pretty darn close, 177X stage is a good tier, maybe two below just due to the physics of being closed. I think you have a good plan in regards to purchase & budget. Extremely diminishing returns beyond the Tygr and 880 in regards to image and stage. Thank you for checking out the content.

I'm sold on the Tygr, at 170$ + 50$ for a modmic it will cost just 20$ more than the 200$ I paid for the ATH-ADG1x and 60-80$ cheaper than the MMX 300 Gen 2! I'm limited by the GSX 1000 anemic amp so can't upgrade to anything north of 150 ohm, but chatmix, side tone and 7.1 VSS are so convenient. Sennheiser dropped the ball by making it USB 2.0 and not USB 3.0 (twice the power delivery) ,they released it in 2016 cmon everyone had USB 3 ports! At least I bought it brand new for 142$ tax included during a deal!
@@Frencho9 it's all about functionality. if it has the features you want/need and powers the headphones you want to use - golden. don't buy into the relentless audio FOMO hype. good dac/amps have been around awhile and most headphones are pretty easy to power. enjoy!
@@YTjuanchicod yeah but bass can bloat it out. Hearing foot steps is easy I find anyway on all headphones. It’s the reloading and crouching and everything you hear with the upper frequency of the dt 990. It just isolates / seperates it abit better than the tygr.
I've tested so many Beyerdynamic units actually removing the filter was an unnecessary formality. keep in mind Beyerdynamic glues filters to the driver assembly. So not something you want to do if you want to sell or return. You can actually find on Beyerdynamics website in one of the FAQ sections that the Tygr 300r is a 990 driver. One of the subs pointed it out.
@@x-techgaming assuming you don't damage the driver assembly at all - yes, that would be correct. keep in mind all the headphones and equipment are done with my own $ and I don't do this for a living, I have to make some decisions to allow me to keep free dollars to keep buying/selling stuff to test. I have had so many Beyerdynamic units on the measurement equipment and enough leads through Beyers info - I determined this instance to be an unnecessary risk. If you don't trust my assessment, you can; reach out to Beyerdynamic, read other reviews or purchase the equipment and utilize your own time to know for certain. ;)

I'm looking for headphones in the roughly $150 price for general PC use (music, movies, youtube, gaming, in order of preference) that can do everything well. I prefer sparkle or 'air' on the top end without being harsh with tight controlled low end. I'm also looking for more of a hifi resolving sound...very detailed and precise. I would like to drive them without an amp if possible but would buy one if needed. Both the X2HR and Tygr 300r seem to fit my criteria, with some controversy about the X2 (which I think may be due to bad QC with Phillips) Which of these two would be your pick and why?
I have reviews on both - so you should be able to get much more information by watching both than I can put in a comment. TLDW - Tygr by a mile. I didn't care for the X2HR. Bloated bass, diffuse image that is not accurate. Tygr has better imaging, more accurate spatial acuity, more resolve, more comfortable. It's not close. :)
@@gamingaudioguide9292 I have lived with the X2HR for 2 weeks now. I don't find them to be as bad as you say, however I have nothing to compare them to (first headphone coming from cheap earbuds). While I'm still in the return period I want to try another headphone for comparison to see if I really am missing anything. I really wanted to try the TYGR but they are always out of stock and the price jumped up to $200 which is higher than I'm willing to spend on them. I need to decide on what other headphones to buy to compare them with the X2HR. I was considering DT770. They are in stock, within price, should be easy to drive with no amp at 32 or 80 Ohm. Using headphones for everything on a PC (music, games, movies, youtube) they seem to have good bass and resolution. Do you think DT770 would be a good choice? I am upgrading from hyperx cloud 2 and I have watched a ton of reviews and I am really confused. I have 300-400 euros to spend on a headset and modmic, don't really know how much to spend and wich heaphones to get. I want something for primary gaming but also to sound ok with movies and music. Watched few of your reviews but there is not a comparison so I am a bit confused.
Am I the only one that’s bothered by the scooped mids in these headphones? I feel like there’s a towel draped over the speakers. The vocals in “Great Gig In The Sky” was extremely disappointing to hear that beautiful vocal track get pushed down and muffled when it should be soaring loud and clear over the instruments. Is there a comparable headphone as far as details, imaging, clarity, soundstage etc. without the scooped mids?
yes, the 880. just keep in mind that perceived scoop in the mids is due to the raised bass. a more linear FR with Beyerdynamic is considered to be boring to some. that's why my preference from their line is still the 1990 pro with analytical pads and a passive filter.
Amiron Home is very comfortable. I think with stock pads it feels a little nicer and has slightly higher build quality. Unfortunately the Amiron has mediocre imaging -so for PVP gaming they are not that great. Other than that, I feel they are actually pretty underrated.
I really want this headphone, but it's rarely available in Europe other than hp+mic combo. Also I'm curious how these TYGR's compete with Philips X2HR's? I had to return X2HR's because they were uncomfortable, but I enjoyed the sound.
I want to buy theses but the only thing holding me back is the circular earcups. I've had issues with these before such as the Siberia 800s where they were unbearably uncomfortable because they rested on my ears instead of my head. Does anyone know if the earcups are actually oval and if I can use my Brainwavez oval earpads with them, or if the circular earcups are at least efficiently big.
comfort is so subjective, you won't know if you don't try them. I feel the circular opening is pretty darn comfortable. Having said that Dekoni and ZMF make pads that will fit these. ZMF Universe and Ori pads fit them and have oval ear openings.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 Yeah I'm going to get them. Werid thing is brainwavez states that my ear pads are compatible with the 300Rs, which doesnt add up since the 300R's ear cups are 5mm too wide and 15mm too short for them.
@@nwah4707 you mean just the thin filter? Probably not unless you think it's affecting sound. I have cut them out in a few instances, depends on the pairing.
Having a really hard time finding a place to pick these up in Scandinavia, not even available through Amazon.de. And the ones I saw came bundled with a mic I don’t care for .. Any tips on how to acquire them?
This is the best review of the tygr headphones on youtube. And i watched all of them. I had beyerdynamic headphones before and didnt quite like any of them so I returned all of them. I hated the highs on the dt 990. I liked the analytical quality of the dt 880 but as you said, it wasn't really fun to listen to and still it had a little bit of a problem with harsh peaks. Not as harsh as the dt 990 for sure but still. Few months ago I picked up the Tygr thinking of probably returning it again, but I was amazed of how good it is. It got all the good things from the dt 990 like the fun signature but without the unbearingly harsh highs. Can't recommend it enough.

Great channel. Extremely few reviewers ever mention how headphones are for gaming. Btw, have the Beyer MMX II's closed backs with microphone, and they are great. They should do a version of the Tygr with a mic, and it would be a winner.

What's the imaging like on these? Is it like surround sound?
@@lemonsmemes5856 asking if a set of stereo headphones is "like surround sound" is a loaded question. surround sound would indicate multiple drivers, which obviously is not the case in a set of stereo headphones.
imaging in stereo headphones is referencing the positional acuity. when it comes to accurately indicating localized sounds in a stereo environment - it's awesome. not many headphones image better..... some that come to mind; Denon AH-D7200, Hd800/800S, DT 1990......

Top tier quality review. You deserve much more recognition, then you currently have. I'm one of these new folks, which watched all available reviews for TYGR's and finally reached the safehaven of your channel, which includes a well explained frequency response, that's a gem and kudos to you for that!
I'm gaming a lot, but at the same time, I wish for an all-rounder and I believe the TYGR 300R will deliver. I'm an avid Metal Fan mixed with Electronic Rock, Industrials and a lot more. I'm well aware that a "True" all rounder would cost me 3-4x the price, not to mention a proper dac/amp combo to make it, actually deliver.
I thought about trying out Audeze Mobius or perhaps the bluetooth less HyperX variant, but looking at the TYGR's and then the mixed feedback from the owners of Audeze makes me rethink that approach :)
If time and budget allows, please review MMX 300 Gen2 as well! A closed back headphone, but interesting all the same! Thank you, for making me actually try to leave my closed-back comfort zone to try the other side of the coin!

On a side-note if you'll have some time to spare, I'd want to ask you for some advice if possible.
Do you have any recommendations for an AMP/DAC combo, which would benefit these the most? (TYGR's) I have an old Audio Solutions SP103 amp, but it's not certainly the best option for this scenario. My PC onboard is a beefed up Realtek ALC1220 on ASROCK Z270 Extreme4. I thought about getting a dedicated audio card like AIM SC808 or a Xonar Essence STX, but then I got caught in the more quality standpoint. No onboard or external audio card can replace a proper dac/amp combo. Currently I would be able to throw 330$ for a DAC/AMP combo, or buy a DAC first and then an AMP, if there are better options in that regard. On the upside the TYGR's are not so hard to drive.
Once again it's a rarity to see a UA-cam content creator replying back to 2months old posts in their channel, I'm honored.
I have only reviewed the hyper x alpha s. I tend to avoid gaming headsets but some are getting better. I have not tried the mobius, as I don't care for it's built in DAC solution and plethora of gimmicky features.
With the Tygr being so easy to drive, I think you have a lot of options and should focus on feature set. If you want something that offers XLR mic input for potential future use - the MOTU M2 is an amazing unit with a very clean headphone amp. It lacks a little power - but not something to worry about until you get to around 300 ohm headphones (assuming fairly efficient). The JDS Labs Atom amp and DAC are very good value for the price. Highly recommended. Honestly, make sure to try that mobo audio. If you don't notice a deficiency, use that. People often pay for WAY more than they need or can perceive.

1. Schiit Hel / It's getting amazing opinions on multiple sources and has serious power, at least until we reach 300 ohm
2. Motu M2 / This little beast has a Sabre32 ESS Ultra... Wow!
3. JDS Labs Atom Dac/Amp - I'll check them out really quick!
4. Schiit Magni/Modi - Thought about these as well.
5. If money allows, them maybe Schiit Magnius and Modius (amp dac/combo).

Nice review! Am in doubt between Tygr 300R and the HD 6XX for gaming and music (rock and eletronic).
not an easy decision! tygr is better for both single player and competitive gaming. 6XX is better for rock. tygr better for electronic. i prefer the tygr, but many will prefer the natural tone and timbre of the 6XX. hope that helps!

300R sound like the most enjoyable beyer to me and I would have fun modding them too with a detachable wire, perhaps balanced even going into each cup and get rid of the default beyer loopty doo wire that comes out of the cups and across the headband.
And theyre real affordable too.... IF ONLY Beyer actually wanted to sell them, they would not force the silly team tygr bundle with the fox mic on people.
Imagine if car manufacturer did this and went like

Since these are basically 990's with a treble filter, do you think it might a good idea to skip the TYGR and just throw the TYGR filter on a pair of 600 ohm 990's? (for people who already have a competent source chain)
edit: I've since learned more about the internals, and it seems a bit more complicated than just a treble filtered 990. They placed a 990 driver in the 880's cup housing (double the damping material vs the 990 housing). Then they added the 177x GO treble filter and the headband from the Custom One. It would be interesting to replace the stock driver with the 600ohm 990, and enjoy the tuning benefits of the TYGR at an enhanced level of detail

In that regard, it will beat the 400i for sure. The 38X I need to test, but I bet they are very close. Having not tested the 38X, I would anticipate the Tygr being a more "fun" sound and more of a jack of all trades. I would go that route if you don't need the built in mic. If you do need the mic, the 38X seems a great value.

Honestly, I feel like the 38x is being shilled hard, most of the big audiophile channels have some partnership with Sennheiser EPOS or Drop, almost as good as the HD800S or the audio technica ATH-AD 2000x imaging/soundstage wise using the drivers of the mediocre GSP 500? I'm skeptical. It's fine, they have to pay some bills, but certainly changes how I now approach their content, not as reviewers anymore but as influencers. You're one of the few small audiophile channels (alongside max settings, Metal 751 etc...) that have yet to reach influencer status so I trust you for reviewing the 38x as you probably haven't partnered, I don't see any affiliate links and free review units being sent your way =P. After watching 100's of reviews on all sorts of audio gear, I've narrowed my search down to the Beyerdynamic 880 premium 600 Ω and the Tygr 300r. Context: My old pair for the past 4 years has been the 598 cs closed-back from Sennheiser and they've been a really good pair to own (I'm not an audiophile xD). I play a lot of FPS games like CS:GO and Rainbow Six Siege, but I also play League of Legends, which when I play league I enjoy listening to music. If I go for the 300's then I don't have to buy an amp, and I can hook them up to my Rode NT USB mic, but if I go for the 880 600Ω variant, then I'd probably buy a liquid spark amp and a e30 from Topping. Which one would you prefer from your experienced standpoint since I don't come from an audiophile background (Also I prefer to listen to Pop, Country/Folk/Rock, and a little bit of electronic. Also I plan on trying to get a deal on Black Friday if that's possible :D).
two great options. the Tygr will be more "fun" with the music you like. Also, function and use case should always play a huge roll in purchasing decisions. If you can by the Tygr and not have to buy anything else , that would be a pretty easy decision for me. Tough to go wrong either way.

Great review! I can't seem to find the TYGR anywhere in Canada but I'm going to keep looking. Did you see Beyer launched the T1 gen3? 32ohm and sound signature seems closer to this one than Beyer's of the past. I wonder how much more resolving the T1 gen3 is than the TYGR. A lot of people on online forums are upset with the change from 600ohm to 32ohm as they fear for loss in resolution.
thank you! the new t1 seems interesting. I like the thought of the new tuning, but I also worry about a 32ohm voice coil in a flag ship headphone. it can work though. Denon's 7200 is something like 25 ohms and one of the most resolving headphones on the market. i'll check them out soon enough.

This voice probably summarizes more or less how the tygr sound like. Somewhat smooth, warm-ish, bit stingy treble at times but still a roll off towards the end.

I've watched this video three times already. Definitely the best TYGR 300r review on youtube. Can I ask you a question? I just bought the TYGR's directly from the german factory all the way from South Africa. Been looking for a companion to the HD600's - something of an opposite nature with a bit of rumble in the low end and a wide soundstage that's easier to drive. Would like to use them with electronic music and keep the 600's for classical. I thought the Fidelio X2's would fit the bill, but on a I sprang on these instead.
Did I make a good choice with these? It was very impulsive.

The Tygr 300R is technically superior to the X2 in every way. I think it will fill the exact complimentary role you are looking for.

The biggest problem with reviewers these days is the "link in the description" plague. I've found channels where everything remotely better than average is praised as if it's the end-all headphone in order to get the revenue from amazon. So people jump to buy them. This just creates unbalanced reviews in my opinion.

The color scheme reminds to my k712, but sound could be different since is more mid-forward than tygr 300. It would be interesting a comparison between this two since audiophile community tag them as "fun" headphones.

Admittedly, I did not try it. However, they should power easy enough. They are very efficient drivers and low impedance. I would be shocked if the controller didn't handle them just fine.

Great review. Maybe just in my head, but when I first got these, they seemed very muddy in the mid bass...I let them run on their own at a little higher volume. When I came back to listen again, it seemed like the break in had fixed most of the issues I was hearing... Has anyone else noticed this?

The 7200 is more resolving, has more bass, less treble and better imaging. The Tygr is more comfortable. The 7200 has a ringing at 2.5kz that bothers some. The Tygr has the peak at 8k that will bother some. Neither will bother most. The 7200 is MUCH more sensitive and runs off less power.
I’m still confused as to why you don’t have more subscribers! Thanks for providing us with the content that other youtubers should but don’t offer. Saying that, I doubt they’d be able to make such detailed videos and answer our questions as kindly as you do.

Hey, do you have a recommendation for a good closed-back counterpart to the TYGR 300R, below 200€? I might need closed back headphones for evening sessions. I looked at the DT 770 Pro, but I think that the trebble would be too annoying for me. Other than gaming, I would use them for listening to Hip Hop and some Jazz.

My Tygr will arrive tomorrow and im really exited and worried to try them haha. Coming from my HD681, i wanted to get a little deeper into audio stuff. I got some 770 80ohm and sound wise, i really liked them, but the bass was way to hard. If i listen to bass heavy music ontop , they even went as far as hearing the membrane rattle slightly. Needed to eq them down and they were fine BUT... i could not stand the closed back feeling. Maybe for just music, i can adapt but for gaming aswell...i could not speak because i cant hear my own voice. i get too loud, i stutter...it was kind of unusable for games, so i returned them.
But i knew a little more what i wanted. Basicly open 770s that are a little more flat, 990s sadly are unusable...the treble is...a joke. The 880s look so interesting but i was so scared to order them just because i fear that they could be exhausting to listen to and their bright sound signature could make them too situational for a lot of music. I tried a few sennheiser at a local store but honestly...they just sounded boring to me. almost as if you re listening to music while standing inside some fog of war lol. I was like: lets save up some money and buy 1990s then.
And then my attention was on the tygr, wich i did not even know about before. I was mainly looking for headphones for ''AUDIO'' if they game well, thats a bonus. But usually audio people dont look at stuff that has a gaming label on them. The more i read about them tho, the more i thought like: damn these actually sound like what i was looking for. open back, not as agressive as 770s (probably because the closed back bass) less treable as the 990s but still not AS bright flat sounding as the 880s.
The 32ohm does bother me tho, since i cant reallt tell how much impact that has on resolution. But then on the other side... if i end up liking them, does it really matter? Wouldnt that be a good thing overall? If i get something that satisfies me without the need of more amp power...thats a good thing. I m not an audio equipment testing person. I dont plan on owning 10 different headphones. So an dedicated dac/amp for 1-2 headphones is a pretty hefty investment on top. I do have an audio interface i m happy with, the yamaha ag03. Its not perfect, but it does its job...but it has terrible headphone amps. the 80ohm version.. no problems. But i wouldnt put 250ohms on this thing.
This in return would mean: if i go lets say the 1990 route, i would need to buy a new dac, a new amp ontop wich results in not a 400 euro bstock headphone but a 650 euro bstock headphone. Thats a shitton of money in comparison to a Tygr thats 110 Euros bstock on the beyer store. And since my plan of getting more into audio gear also includes a better speaker setup, i want to replace my old active nearfields with some amped passive speakers with more punch, something like Klipsch RP500M wich are 400 a pair... i could literally buy a pair of Klipsch RP500M, the Tygr AND still have 140 bucks left to get some decent stereo amp to drive them... for the same price i would pay for just the amped 1990s. And this overall sounds like a way better overall package value wise.

@@CoasterCoat No. I cant say if it was a broken product or not but they sounded objectively terrible, was sending them back the next day and for now just staying with my 681 because they are actually better that what ive tried now, either wasting money on stuff i dont need because its no if barely an improvement or i save money to actually go a tier or 2 up
@@CoasterCoat yes. With the EQ i have on them and aftermarket earpads they sound SO good. the dt770 where better than the tygrs in sound but still more like a sidegrade to the 681. Not worth the price difference

I have not. They look interesting. One, external magnet array, so it's not going to revolutionize the price point. My guess is they are good for single player but not competitive.

This might be just a preference but the old font you've used on thumbnails was much better than this. This just feels outdated and it's also hard to read sometimes. I feel like you need to step up in thumbnail game in general, better thumbnails could appeal more people. Photos are getting good but the fonts are too flashy and crowded that I can't even see the photo, more clean look might be better. Personally I'm not a fan of your channel logo too, not sure what could be change but I don't like the font you used, it (again) feels bit outdated to me.

How does the Tygr size up against the Beyerdynamic DT 177X GO for fps gaming?
Is this a fair Imaging ranking of Beyers: 1990 pro > Tygr > DT 177XGO > DT 880 ?
What about soundstage ranking ? 1990 pro > ? (never owned a beyer)
Looks like I finally found an affordable upgrade for my Audio Technica ATH-ADG1x for FPS gaming, cuz times are hard not gonna upgrade to an ATH-2000x, even less to a Beyer DT 1990 Pro (I'm treble sensitive) let alone the godlike Senn HD800s gotta be fiscally responsible lol.
For imaging I would say 1990>Tygr=177X>880 but they are all so close, it really shouldn't even be a determining factor. They all image very well.
Soundstage 1990>Tygr=880>177X - first three all pretty darn close, 177X stage is a good tier, maybe two below just due to the physics of being closed.
I think you have a good plan in regards to purchase & budget. Extremely diminishing returns beyond the Tygr and 880 in regards to image and stage.

I'm sold on the Tygr, at 170$ + 50$ for a modmic it will cost just 20$ more than the 200$ I paid for the ATH-ADG1x and 60-80$ cheaper than the MMX 300 Gen 2! I'm limited by the GSX 1000 anemic amp so can't upgrade to anything north of 150 ohm, but chatmix, side tone and 7.1 VSS are so convenient. Sennheiser dropped the ball by making it USB 2.0 and not USB 3.0 (twice the power delivery) ,they released it in 2016 cmon everyone had USB 3 ports! At least I bought it brand new for 142$ tax included during a deal!
@@Frencho9 it's all about functionality. if it has the features you want/need and powers the headphones you want to use - golden. don't buy into the relentless audio FOMO hype. good dac/amps have been around awhile and most headphones are pretty easy to power. enjoy!
300 R owners - What do you think of them(for FPS gaming)?

@@YTjuanchicod dt 990 has better separation and less bass. Better for FPS. But 300r adds more bass for single player immersive gameplay.

@@YTjuanchicod yeah but bass can bloat it out. Hearing foot steps is easy I find anyway on all headphones. It’s the reloading and crouching and everything you hear with the upper frequency of the dt 990. It just isolates / seperates it abit better than the tygr.

So 300 R = 990 + 1770 filter. Therefore, have you removed the 300 R filter to confirm it measures the same as a 990? I would like to see the results.
I've tested so many Beyerdynamic units actually removing the filter was an unnecessary formality. keep in mind Beyerdynamic glues filters to the driver assembly. So not something you want to do if you want to sell or return. You can actually find on Beyerdynamics website in one of the FAQ sections that the Tygr 300r is a 990 driver. One of the subs pointed it out.

@@x-techgaming assuming you don't damage the driver assembly at all - yes, that would be correct. keep in mind all the headphones and equipment are done with my own $ and I don't do this for a living, I have to make some decisions to allow me to keep free dollars to keep buying/selling stuff to test. I have had so many Beyerdynamic units on the measurement equipment and enough leads through Beyers info - I determined this instance to be an unnecessary risk.
If you don't trust my assessment, you can; reach out to Beyerdynamic, read other reviews or purchase the equipment and utilize your own time to know for certain. ;)

First of all, I don't care about competitive gaming (multiplayer/online fps) at all.
I only play single player, story-based games (like God of War, Red Dead 2 etc) and I also like watching movies as well.
So basically, what I'm looking for is *IMMERSION* above all else.

I'm looking for headphones in the roughly $150 price for general PC use (music, movies, youtube, gaming, in order of preference) that can do everything well.
I prefer sparkle or 'air' on the top end without being harsh with tight controlled low end. I'm also looking for more of a hifi resolving sound...very detailed and precise.
I would like to drive them without an amp if possible but would buy one if needed.
Both the X2HR and Tygr 300r seem to fit my criteria, with some controversy about the X2 (which I think may be due to bad QC with Phillips)
Which of these two would be your pick and why?
I have reviews on both - so you should be able to get much more information by watching both than I can put in a comment. TLDW - Tygr by a mile. I didn't care for the X2HR. Bloated bass, diffuse image that is not accurate. Tygr has better imaging, more accurate spatial acuity, more resolve, more comfortable. It's not close. :)
@@gamingaudioguide9292 I have lived with the X2HR for 2 weeks now. I don't find them to be as bad as you say, however I have nothing to compare them to (first headphone coming from cheap earbuds). While I'm still in the return period I want to try another headphone for comparison to see if I really am missing anything. I really wanted to try the TYGR but they are always out of stock and the price jumped up to $200 which is higher than I'm willing to spend on them. I need to decide on what other headphones to buy to compare them with the X2HR. I was considering DT770. They are in stock, within price, should be easy to drive with no amp at 32 or 80 Ohm. Using headphones for everything on a PC (music, games, movies, youtube) they seem to have good bass and resolution. Do you think DT770 would be a good choice? Do you think the TYGR are really worth waiting for? Is there a better headphone to try in the roughly $150 price you recommend in stock?

I am upgrading from hyperx cloud 2 and I have watched a ton of reviews and I am really confused. Am I the only one that’s bothered by the scooped mids in these headphones? I feel like there’s a towel draped over the speakers. The vocals in “Great Gig In The Sky” was extremely disappointing to hear that beautiful vocal track get pushed down and muffled when it should be soaring loud and clear over the instruments. Is there a comparable headphone as far as details, imaging, clarity, soundstage etc. without the scooped mids?
yes, the 880. just keep in mind that perceived scoop in the mids is due to the raised bass. a more linear FR with Beyerdynamic is considered to be boring to some. that's why my preference from their line is still the 1990 pro with analytical pads and a passive filter.

Amiron Home is very comfortable. I think with stock pads it feels a little nicer and has slightly higher build quality. Unfortunately the Amiron has mediocre imaging -so for PVP gaming they are not that great. Other than that, I feel they are actually pretty underrated.

I really want this headphone, but it's rarely available in Europe other than hp+mic combo. Also I'm curious how these TYGR's compete with Philips X2HR's? I had to return X2HR's because they were uncomfortable, but I enjoyed the sound.
you cannot buy direct from Beyer's website? these stomp the x2hr in every way.
I want to buy theses but the only thing holding me back is the circular earcups. I've had issues with these before such as the Siberia 800s where they were unbearably uncomfortable because they rested on my ears instead of my head. Does anyone know if the earcups are actually oval and if I can use my Brainwavez oval earpads with them, or if the circular earcups are at least efficiently big.
comfort is so subjective, you won't know if you don't try them. I feel the circular opening is pretty darn comfortable. Having said that Dekoni and ZMF make pads that will fit these. ZMF Universe and Ori pads fit them and have oval ear openings.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 Yeah I'm going to get them. Werid thing is brainwavez states that my ear pads are compatible with the 300Rs, which doesnt add up since the 300R's ear cups are 5mm too wide and 15mm too short for them.

@@nwah4707 you mean just the thin filter? Probably not unless you think it's affecting sound. I have cut them out in a few instances, depends on the pairing.
Having a really hard time finding a place to pick these up in Scandinavia, not even available through Amazon.de. And the ones I saw came bundled with a mic I don’t care for ..
