- Boasting four, well five if you count the dueling one twice, new coasters; Epic Universe is looking to be nothing short of amazing. Will the coasters hold a candle to some of the other coasters around Central Florida? Let's check out if the coasters at Epic Universe will be Good, Solid, or Meh
Meh - A coaster that has a relatively disappointing layout or is overall underwhelming
Good - A coasters that is mostly filler and definitely worth at least one ride, perhaps more, genuinely not anything out of the ordinary, just fun.
Solid - A coasters that should be ridden once a trip and involves a solid layout with elements that elevate it past a regular coaster.
Top 10 Worthy - A coaster that you travel specifically to a park to ride, can't be missed, and has many elements that elevate it to a top tier attraction.
About Jake Coasters:
My name's Jake and this is my UA-cam channel where we discuss everything theme parks, coasters, and, of course, always have some time to talk about Halloween. Wherever there's a coaster getting built or a theme park doing something new, we'll probably talk about it.
This channel features features discussion on theme park news topics, and in depth video essays on more specific theme park topics. I also LOVE Planet Coaster and feature some of my concepts from time to time.
Rumors discussed here are verified before being shared as best as possible, and thoughts are my own, not necessarily those of the theme parks or companies we discuss.

Which Epic coaster are you most looking forward to?
Without doubt, the Duel. But also the indoor hidden monster one.
The How To Train Your Dragon coaster really should have been a Vekoma flyer like F.L.Y at Phantasialand.
Not gonna lie, I was pumped to ride that coaster...but I did not like it near as much as the other coasters there
I hope all of them stay away from the initially interesting, but eventually irritating, SPINNING. Lateral G's require torso muscles to be tensed up for many seconds and the middle ear "hates" the angular acceleration. But the "4-wheeler" racing through trails in the forest thrill (Hagrid) mostly keeps our center of gravity over the coaster track with less lateral "jerk" (change of acceleration).
The closer we get to opening day, the more this video excites me. We've learned so much about these rides since you released this video that there's just so much potential for this park to truly be Epic!
How can anyone even look at the dueling coaster and think it would be anything less than solid... It's a dang marvel of modern engineering. I have zero concerns, it looks amazing. That's the one I'm excited for. I totally agree with your ranking for it
Me too, I think it will Mack's best yet...I know some are concerned about the launch, but that's just a small piece
If the werewolf coaster does a forward, back, forward launch, with some werewolf animatronic trying to get you, it could make for a really cool scene where you try to escape, fail, try to escape again fail, and then blast through the last forward launch, akin to the Yeti in Everest at Animal Kingdom.
Yes for sure, I wonder if the story is we're slowly getting "cursed" and therefore spin more out of control through the swing launch...or perhaps as you said we're trying to escape and the warewolf "hits" out vehicle or something
I dont think it will.
and it would be even better than the yeti, because it will probably work.
I am just hyped for the how to Train your Dragon land.
Same, looks great
every coaster will be a launch coaster. thats exciting.
Yep! No lifts here haha
I'm not a thrill coaster fan in any way. Hagrids and Slinky Dog are perfect for me. But I love watching you freaks on the extreme ones. I'm really looking forward to watching Star Fall Racers. That looks like a blast for those that enjoy thrill rides.
You're in luck as three out of the four coasters will be perfect for you!
I think the real track on Donkey Kong will be very well hidden. The coaster’s ability to produce the sensation of jumping and landing makes me nervous, though. The smoothness of a track can’t replicate the feeling of jumping and landing, imo. Motion effects on the vehicle seats or some sort of hydraulic system to make the cart jolt would be an easy fix. I’m really excited for this ride regardless because the theming seen in the concept art looks incredible.
Yeah, that's what I'm concerned about too...Either way it will be well themed and a fun little family coaster tbh
That name of starfall racers is one of the best coaster names I’ve ever heard.
I love it too!
nooooooooo its now starDUST........ They should have kept the original name...
I don't wanna rule out the possibility that the How To Train Your Dragon coaster could be a straddle coaster like Hagrid's or DarkKoaster that emulates the feeling on actually flying on the back of a dragon!
From the track design, it doesn't appear to be, but there's no reason we can't get a straddle another time!
If that's the case, then I'd consider it a missed opportunity 😅
@@elchristianez_ I’d rather get an Intamin invert (the initial theory for this ride) than a straddle.
Cant wait to ride the dueling mack coasters. Have close to 50 coaster credits and have never ridden a mack. The layout looks sick but definitely hesitant about the launches. Have never heard of a intense launch on a mack coaster. Have had the pleasure of riding velocicoaster over 30 times and iron gwazi over 20. Hope it lives up to the hype and gives us floridians another jewel in the crown.
For sure, I think it will be a stellar coaster
Any scrub can deliver a coaster with heavy positive Gs. The real art is airtime and smoothness. I don't need a greyout launch. I want to feel weightless, like I'm coasting
I know it won't happen but it would be epic to have a spinnging car in the last row of the dueling coaster
OMG Imagine!
Your voice sounds awesome! Great video!
Ha thanks
I’d love to see a Vekoma invert somewhere or how about a tilt coaster themed to the creature from the black lagoon (or a B&M dive)
A Vekoma invert would be great, Uni currently doesn't have an invert (as we all know haha)
Great video!!
Appreciate it
They overbuilt the new Harry Potter land and underbuilt Monster Land
IMO werewolf coaster will end up being the most disappointing ride in the park. It was a late addition and I think it will end up feeling rushed. There’s no good reason why the entire ride isn’t fully indoors - if it’s supposed to be a family-level of intensity but still be scary since it’s in the monsters land, then it should be fully covered a la Revenge of the Mummy. Having good indoor theming would have greatly helped with the shorter layout and lower intensity of the coaster.
I could definitely see that...I was hoping it would be indoors as well
Ye they should’ve treated it like guardians over at epcot
I do think how to train your dragon coaster will be intense we can take cheetah hunt for example after that third launch it’s is just airtime after airtime hill and then ride just ends
This was a great overview of what's coming. I'm really excited for the coasters and the dark rides. The How to Train Your Dragon coaster is the only one I'm not thrilled about. It takes up a lot of real estate and doesn't seem to offer anything unique. I enjoy a good family coaster, Hagrid's is one of the best in the world, FireChaser Express at Dollywood is great, and I'm stoked for the new Fire in the Hole at SDC. But Epic Universe seems to already be getting two other family coasters in Nintendo Land and Universal Monsters sections of the park. Admittedly, I also have no nostalgia for How to Train Your Dragon franchise in general so that's also part of my lack of enthusiasm .
Thank you, I do think Dragons will be surprising...it will really come down to how forceful it is..I'm looking forward to re-evaluating once the park actually opens
I agree.. I think the only thing that would have made Epic Universe better is if instead of How to Train Your Dragon it was Lord of the Rings and the land was like you were walking through the Shire, with an epic dark ride and / or coaster.
I’d be more excited if Intamin instead of Mack was doing Starfall Racers. Looks pretty cool nonetheless.
Donkey kong coaster seems very short from bioreconstruct ariels but has surprisingly long inside
Gotcha, I'm definitely gonna re-evaluate after I ride it
Please tell me you're kidding with that headline. I mean come on! Those coasters are gonna be FUN, regardless of stats.
The contents of the video should answer this statement
the question is legit, compared to Seaworld these coasters seem MID!
The dueling coaster should be great..the others meh
Yeah, I think the others will have great theming and uniqueness that will elevate them beyond 'meh' status. I also think Dragon will be fun
As a former werewolf? Watchu mean?
😎😎
he means that he was a werewolf
Werewolf coaster makes me nervous. The track length is so absurdly short and takes up so much valuable real estate in the land.
I'm worried too, I was hoping for a longer duration
I expect that the pre show/queue elements will be part of the fun of this ride. Also, I expect that the ride duration will increase with the swinging launches. It’s also possible that the ride vehicle could stop completely inside the show scene for an extended scene before launching again.
Im unsure how good they will be most look short outside of Starfall Racers which will be the best one at the park. I think Epic is universal version of Magic Kingdom its a park for the whole family. but these coasters wont touch anything Seaworld has to offer or Isle of Adventure Busch Garden Tampa its not close... its an okay lineup but nothing to make a real coaster grinder be like wow!!!! Like I said this is their magic kingdom which doesnt have those crazy coasters that other parks have. Starfall can't touch Dueling Dragons!!!!
Any coaster that doesn't spin or go upside down I can try. Everything else will unfortunately make me far to sick
Looks like there are two coasters that are good for you! Mario Kart does spin, but it's minimal
Disney, right? I'm just guessing that's your main hang out. I think regardless.of the rides, the entire park will be tons of fun and immersion, so I think you'll like it.
How to train your dragons and the star racing ones look good
The monsters and dk one look like shit
Yeah, I'm looking forward to re-evaluating and doing this video again after I ride them...so in a few years lol
This entire park is going to be amazing and grab serious market share from Disney
I think so, and it will allow for more expansion space for the resort as a whole
