I’m on the last course of the Google UX/UI Certificate and I have learned SO MUCH. I have a background in art (Master’s in Art History) so I already have the visual design background under my belt (even took a History in New Media course where i had to build my own website based on my research paper). I’m currently in a finance role (don’t ask me how I ended up here LOL) and looking to transition into UX! I’ve also been a part of several usability studies for two major program rollouts in my current job which I absolutely loved. Thank you for posting your experience, I’m so excited to start applying to jobs 😊
I noticed that almost anyone not mentioning that you need actually understand HIG and Material Design, it's basically also can be a huge benefit if you can use it rightly
As an experienced GD, I have to say UI is more of a science and if you love doing puzzles and mind-map type cognitive activities you’ll enjoy it. Art is also pretty solo, whereas UX all collaborative.
How did your interview process go? It’s really hard to get a Ux job as an entry level, but I would assume it’s harder when your completely self taught?
Good for you! Sounds like a great job. I have heard much about the late Norman Nielsen. Such a great loss. A friend of mine who is also in UX recommends one Jakob Nielsen. I am not sure if they are related, I did not bother to look it up!
Hey! I'm just tipping my toes into content design, Im wondering if the course you took could be something for me to start with, where could I find it? Thanks for the inspiration ✨
I'm sorry but there is no Nielsen Norman who founded the Nielsen Norman Institute. The Nielsen Norman Group was founded by Don Norman and Jakob Nielsen and both are very much alive.
Did you say Neilson Norman is a person? It's actually Don Norman and Jakob Neilson, Don is pretty old but he isn't dead. Jakob is is in his 60s I guess. I don't know if I'll be able to watch this channel anymore.
good video. I have just bought UX/UI course on Udemy website. I will work hard to see if I can get a Ux/UI job in 3 months like you, if not, then 6 month
Honestly it takes time to get good. 3 months is a good base for it for learning UX and improving takes a whole career ❤️ don’t feel pressured to finish by a time line, the goal is to be good not quick ✅ best of look Dicey on your UX journey!
hey, how you doing? i want to understand how you took the google course for free cause I'm interested in doing that too just wanna to use that to top up my knowledge in ui/ux. Thank you.
for someone to say they turned into a full fledged ux ui designer in 3 months its a fallacy. Its the same as me saying I can become a lawyer too and be able to practice and charge people in 3 months
I am going to learn sociology in university but in my mind I an thinking about doing UX by myself and study UX. I just wanna knw that is it really possible to do UX job with no design degree? It is just hard to belive, i see so many ppl doing this😃
Can non- native English speaker work as a UX designer? in US? I see a lot of people including my friends who are foreigner with limited English work as Coder, Web developer etc. but not UX designer. I binged all UX deign youtubers are all native or speak like native. I would like to know if my poor English is gonna be my problem before I get into this . Thank you
Yes English is important for a UX designer if we work with foreign companies! Because you’ll communicate a lot on the design and the stakeholders will want to make sure you both understand each other. Communication is key in UX, so I’d recommend improving it as well to pick up on details they ask for the designs Also sorry I commented from my other channel I just realized lol
hi, I'm a self-taught ui designer with light front end development skills. trying to break into this field. I'm interested in the UI design career path as appose to the ux. is it necessary to complete the google ux/ui certificate course? given my career path choice?
Thanks for sharing! I am interested in doing this as I cannot afford to go to UI/UX bootcamp because the price is ridiculous it usually ranges from 2-8k. Where can I find the free google course?
Hey!! Totally get you. I have a short explaining how to do the Google Course, you should also check out my Part 1 of my my bootcamp series on my channel and some of my more technical videos to get a feel - that should help hit the ground running ✨😊
Hey Chunks 😊 I think like any new skill you learn it will take time and practice. UX is a bit different than graphic design in the way that it requires researching what is the best thing to make and only then deciding. Research in itself is half the work (which isn’t hard - but that’s my opinion). Coming from graphic design you’ll have an advantage bringing in UI and fun elements. I think it’s worth a shot if you want to try, never hurts 😊
Thanks for the video! I’m interested in the hack you mentioned about the google course? I went through the whole process of applying for a scholarship and they ended up just giving me the six week introduction to product design course for free. I found it offered for free other places on the Internet and I was really angry! Thanks ❤
Hey! It’s detailed in one of my Shorts 😄 you’ll be able to see the whole step by step. Just note that it won’t give you the certificate, but you’ll get most of everything else you’ll need
Hi. Very inspiring. Can you tell me what it means when ux is not just a check list? Like u can skip some point of creasing a project. What is it exactly? And how can I know who I should ask for a research and how many ppl is enough ? And how can I know that what they saying is actually what they need. People a lot of times don’t know what they want .
Love watching your videos! I’m currently studying UX and UI design. I’m wondering if you would be interested in a quick call, I’m interested to talk to you about the UX role and get some insight about your experience. I’d be very much appreciate it if you are available to do so. Please let me know. Thank you.
Hey! I’m currently not taking calls about this stuff because work has been crazy busy. If you want to ask some questions feel free to write and I’m happy to take time to answer ❤️
I like your channel and subscribe :) just one thing, after what you said about Don Norman, I was curious and checked it on Google, it looks like Don Norman is still with us.
I really loved your video! Also was wondering if you job is fully remote or it can be? And do I need to take a graphic design course before i do any class on ux/ui design ? Subbed 👍👍👍
Hey JJ! Great question. My job is very flexible, they let me decide for the most part. I know of UX Designers that are fully remote - to really do well at this it's important to be in great communication with the team (this is something that's hard to control, and makes you need a good team). I personally didn't do a graphic design course :) it helps for doing UI though. I believe with some effort, time on the design apps and youtube videos - you can get by without a gd course :) up to you though! Just my thoughts
I want to start my ui ux journey can you tell me how can i start it and before that first of all i don't have design background so how can i start it i am in college recently.
Subbed! Hope you reach 1000 soon! Thank you for this video. Can you please share some resources to help with self-study? Is the Google course through Coursera? Also can you please share the trick/ hack? I'm confused about which one to study UX or UI. Thank you!
Hey!! Thanks so much for the sweet comment 😁😄 hope to reach it soon too! Yes I uploaded a Short for the free UX course google hack! I can dive deeper into which would you want to study UX or UI in a video today 😊

I think it depends a lot on the company and culture, in Israel UX is more of the science one. But I think this varies on definition in the industry!
Nielsen Norman Group was founded by Jakob Nielsen and Don Norman. Both are alive and active
I know 😅 got this wrong. Sorry for spreading fake news lol I passed this on without double checking
