Been in his company on a few occasions, and this interview is exactly how he is with people. One hell of a player , a true competitor, and his words regarding Brett Hodgson are what defines him as a man. Very humble. Talks about his Man Of Steel in the UK. Just total respect. Reminds me of the great Arthur Beetson. Another true gent.
Spot on, met him 97 on great Keppel after 10 days fishing, he was talking to the boys asking about the fishing and spots. Don't think his girlfriend was impressed 😂
Gordon Tallis was such a player. He was such a competitor. My first Origin was watching that tackle he did against Brett Hodgson. Showed just what the SOO was about.
A true queensland legend! One of the best to ever do it. Hard working hard hitting no nonsense, passionate never backs down from anyone and a natural leader. He's exactly what fans would hope and pray for when representing Australia in ANY sport!
So many words to describe the great Gordon Tallis as a player......fearless, tough as a mallee bull, frightening, ferocious and just competitive. As a man he is very humble and such a great role model for any kid wanting to find their way in any sport not just rugby league. I admired him on the field and I admire him off it, he is a real class act 💯👍
Harrigan got the knock on call wrong, but Tallis should not have insulted the referee. Heat of the moment stuff. For us fans. What great memories and highlights of SoO. Gordie. What a player. What a warrior. What a QLDer.
And he says that in this interview. Harrigan DID get it wrong, but he wasn't a cheat, and as you say , heat of the moment stuff. As Gordy says, he didn't think he'd march him... but he did.
My mate said he saw Gordon at the beach and his back was twice the size of micks I’m a blues fan but that moment in origin was simply incredible old Brett Hodgson got marauded haha he’s probably more famous for that than his whole career Just one of the things that makes origin so great
Gordy, a heart on sleeve player, speaks his mind in commentary. I love his way, you never see him joining the P.C brigade, too many of them already on TV
I loved Bill Harrigan, one of the best refs to ref the game in my lifetime, but yes, that wa one of the rare instances he got that completely wrong. Harrigan ins within his rights to send him off for that exchange. But I understand Gordons passion and in the heat of the moment to do that. Tallis is one of the best forwards to have played the game. and a QLD legend to boot. Ps - - - - I wish it was Andrew too.
? got it wrong? he called the ref a cheat. send the loserlander off. ;) why was he a cheat? because he didn't blow his whistle when a guy missed a ball cold and hit him on the chest? p.s Andrew Johns is the goat
one thing about gordon which i've always admired, is how well he talks and presents. 99% of league players are 'yeah nah, you know, yeah nah, oooohh, yeah nah'. gordon is different.
Damn this video; I've just had to completely review my opinion on Gorden Tallis. I assumed he was a thug and it turns out he's quite humble and thoughtful.
Gordon was supposed to turn up to my school with Nathan Brown. Nathan turned up, Gordon had better things to do apparently. Still hold it against him, kids should be the focus you make the effort for. Wasn't happy
In Gordon's defence, the only reason Bill Harrigan isn't the worst referee in rugby league history is because Gerard Sutton exists, and the only reason Gerard Sutton isn't the worst referee in rugby league history is because Ashley Klein exists. I got issues with Ben Cummins too.
so Gordon has the nerve to call Luai a grub for standing over cobbo(which he didn't know was knocked out at the time)but yet he mouths off calling the ref a cheat, also swearing at the nsw crowd after winning an origin game?? Gordon, you were a bigger grub than Luai will ever be you flog🤣🤣🤣
As a veteran I don't like people who say they use drugs because they have mental health problems. I talked to my doctor. It takes 6 to 12 months to successfully diagnose someone with bi polar. But it took him 1 week
Gorden Tallis father played the same generation as my father Bill Robinson played for Leigh, Lancashire, Great Britain and parramatta in Sidney Australia. Wallis Tallis played for Leigh. Stuart Rapers father Johnny Raper played the same generation as my father Part of Royal cousin tree would look at the atmosphere make sure celebrities that played for our teams and against were welcomed from Australia and everywhere else. People that came from Australia were coming across early 1930's and 1950's putting Royal cousin tree out. Queen Elizabeth II treasure I am just Royal cousin with Ashton, Rigby, Bleasdale, Harrison DNA under shared Royal ancestor's. I did enjoy working at the Walkabout celebrity bar. Making them contributions. 🙂Hope everyone had a lovely and going celebrate the New Year 🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾Royal cousin was put out 1930's, 1950's. You would of had Sir David Lindsey 27th Lord Crawford check atmosphere and watching matches when Australia came over
In This day and age that would be a penalty like all the other stupid penalties. But jersey are too tight to do that now. But the game is getting soft and refs have to much power. Nrl needs to fix itself 😞
I thought that tackle was pathetic. It shouldn't have Been allowed.dragging him across the ground by the collar. tallis made a fool of himself.i wouldn't put that tackle down as one to dwell on

Can confirm this. I served him a few times over the bar and he speaks just this gently and softly with everyone. Dead set legend of Australia.
Spot on, met him 97 on great Keppel after 10 days fishing, he was talking to the boys asking about the fishing and spots. Don't think his girlfriend was impressed 😂
I’m a blues supporter through and through but the bull is a bloody legend .

One of the most legendary moments in origin history. Gordon is a legend💯👍

“I wish it was Andrew John’s” 😂
Still love when he went for Wigan player Terry O'connor- then realised that O'connor was about the hardest man in the world! - 2 hard men toe for toe.
That was two tough hombres ....
My mate said he saw Gordon at the beach and his back was twice the size of micks

he was a cheat.
Lol you trolling? He was biased as a mfkr!

@@peterboyd7304 you think Bill was a cheat, nothing compared to The Grasshopper.
? got it wrong? he called the ref a cheat. send the loserlander off. ;) why was he a cheat? because he didn't blow his whistle when a guy missed a ball cold and hit him on the chest? p.s Andrew Johns is the goat
Easily one of the best back rowers ever to play the game.
Awwww, sugar! I've hated him most my life now he's gone done and made me love him!
one thing about gordon which i've always admired, is how well he talks and presents. 99% of league players are 'yeah nah, you know, yeah nah, oooohh, yeah nah'. gordon is different.
My fav player Gordy always were consistent and just a fair guy n played with yr heart on yr sleeve 💪💯🙏
Brett Hodgson was a magnificent player.
Pound for pound one of the finest to play great goalkicker
Watched this as a little boy. I’m now 30 years old. Thanks for the memories Gordie
WOW TALLIS WHAT A GREAT TACKLE , QLDERRRRR ❤
He is the best and one outstanding palyer in the OLD Team. He is a true Legend in Rugby League History.
Too Good 👍👍
Good player, tough as competitor. Didn't wanna know about Solomon Haumono though.
Seen him in crowd with his missus at a 90s RnB reunion tour concert took pics and chatted with people. Enjoying the night
This bloke is an outright legend, on and off the field.
Met Gordon a few times, He is a really nice person.l...and yes that was a knock on .
Gordon was hard az during his playing days.Woulda liked to have seen him play against Gal.
Gordan is one of those players you don't want to mess with
Tallis the KING!!! 💪
True rugby legend ❤️🇵🇬👍
Rag-dog!? You mean Rag-doll surely?
MY MAN
The Raging Bull is wrong, if that was played today, the bunker would still get it wrong
If that happened today the Bunker would find a late tackle 3 sets earlier and then latrell would get 8 weeks
@@mileschicken1 😂💀
lol....
🥱🥱🤫
Fox League spelling an NRL Legend's name wrong. It's Gorden guys, cmon
hes right harragon was a cheat.
Good old Raging Bull💯👌🏾
Both knock ons it was Tonie Carroll heading in for the tackle 😂
Damn this video; I've just had to completely review my opinion on Gorden Tallis. I assumed he was a thug and it turns out he's quite humble and thoughtful.
What a grub
Gordon was supposed to turn up to my school with Nathan Brown. Nathan turned up, Gordon had better things to do apparently. Still hold it against him, kids should be the focus you make the effort for. Wasn't happy
That was a NASTY and typical bloody QLD tackle
Brisbane can thank Brian smith for Gordon
I was at the ground when Gordon was sent off, a really bad call by Bill, but the arrogance of him not to check the knock on, decided the match.
Don't we all.

Tallis would never have been able to do that to Andrew John's. It wasn't a great tackle. Hodgson weighed about 75kgs.
As a veteran I don't like people who say they use drugs because they have mental health problems. I talked to my doctor. It takes 6 to 12 months to successfully diagnose someone with bi polar. But it took him 1 week
these players certainly look alot younger now then they were still playing footy hahah
Da Man... He will be MMT if it was today.
Is he Tongan?
@@learntonganwithandrew Half
So does everyone.
Joey was 20kg heavier than Hodgson. Good luck Tallis
Those were the days. I haven't watched the footy for years now, it's just not the same, the administrators have completely ruined the game.
Here too. !!!!
Tallis was a gun
Rag dog lol its rag doll lmao
Hodges on should’ve been allied held when his arm touched the ground. You see that happen every eland it’s an attacking penalty.
You don’t see anything exactly or remotely close to that these days.
"Rag-dog" lol
Without doubt , Statue Worthy
My 2nd pick in the greatest ever MAROON'S team
Kangaroo's too , for that matter
same here gordie...wish it Andrew john's! UP UP QLDERZZZ✊🏿💪🏿
Played under 19s for nsw he is a cheat
If you done that to John's he would of been crying before you tossed him over the sideline
You'd never be able to catch Joey! You can barely put a sentence together Tallis
Hell yeah. Queenslanders
Gordy is such a bone head.
Grub. Sooked n sat out the season instead of honouring his contract with St George.... goose
I would like to see ezr mum been flung to the sidelines.... like tallish did to that #1 for the blues 😅😅😅
You couldn't have done it to anyone else
What f@ck just happen
Fox Nice Videos 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Coked up Joey wouldve broken that tackle or snorted the line as he was dragged over it.
Gordie. I'll. Would not f... with the Lad.
1:30 one of the greastest moments in origin history. see ya later loserboi ;)
Some other player with a bigger built/weight,he wouldn't have done that.
Would be a penalty and sin bin in todays game

I wish it was Joey too. Simply can't cop him at all.
Tallis was nothing but a thug in his playing days !!
Harrigan was a cheat!! F the dog C
That Australian team at the end is a joke.

Lol you'd of never been able to do that tackle on joey. On the other hand joey dumped you a number of times
Umm... Rag doll... 🙄🙄
Jesus these back in my day stories from these dinosaurs are gettng rinsed and repeated smh
It's not soccer FW!
