Benny Ikin made Kev look like a million bucks. The run to the GF had his finger prints all over it.
Ikin left half way through 2023 because he and Kev didn’t see eye to eye so no you’re wrong about that
Ikin brought in Reynolds and Capewell plus played a big role in getting Walsh back

It’s now white noise……this so called review would have no doubt identified a lack of leadership within the board and management….. if they are serious there needs to be some other heads that need to be kicked or let go. To say the players should not be blamed is rubbish….they are paid to be professional athletes and prepare and deliver 100% in every game. Simply. the management are cowards and inept how they handled this.

It was the players fault this year, and while Kev can’t be fully blamed he wasn’t the right guy to deliver the hard truths and rip the players a new one over the off season. Broncos old boys need to take a step back and realise the game isn’t the same as the late 90s/early 2000s. Still hurts to say given how much we all love the bloke.

Maguire style of coaching is closer to Bennett, which is what Broncos need. Trains players hard and big on discipline in defence and effort areas.
I'm with Gordon Tallia. Kevvie is the sacrificial lamb (players couldn't stomach their own accountability), so I don't think the ex-NSW state of origin coach can fit in & navigate the culture as much as Kevvie (champion Broncos player, ex-Queensland state of origin coach). The patients are running the asylum, as far as I'm concerned.
Tallis is right - Kevin Walters is not the problem, it's the board, in particular the chairman Karl Morris. The rot is at the top, however the board needs to find a scapegoat hence why they decide to do a "review" when they had been talking to Maguire since August. Walters took on the team after they got the spoon, and took them to 14th, to 9th, to a grand final, and then unfortunately back to 12th in a horror season for injuries (yes every team has injuries, however Broncos had one of the worst). If any other coach at any other club gets those results and they're looked at in context, they do not get sacked. I personally believe Maguire would be a better coach than Walters, however the problem was not Walters. And replacing Walters won't fix the core issues at the Broncos.
Madge has already proved himself & I say that as a proud QLD. Kevvie tried to coach them as a mate, he was soft on them. Madge I assume won’t take prisoners, he’ll tell it how it is, perform or your in reserve grade. It will be interesting how he & Billy get on, I’m half thinking Billy might look for another club, I thought he played ok.

Gordy is bringing feelings to a facts fights. From a bunnies fan, who saw our club go through what it did with JD, I would’ve much rathered us made the call earlier instead of wasting half a season and eventually everyone hating a man, it’s truly unfair to put anyone in that position.

definitely lucky that cronk came along was probs the missing piece to the puzzle. an ex melb, Qld , Aus halfback is handy. roosters were unlucky to lose their half and hooker in the same game this year. but yeah madge will probably be good for the broncs. i just dont think madge would have done any better with what kev had.

This whole show is a trainwreck. Braith too afraid to argue with and even look at Gordie. Gordie struggling hard to control his natural impluses to threaten violence, with all instincts telling him to headbut faces, bite necks and stomp on sternums. And the other two clowns there making the loosest statements based on what they read on social media 30 minutes before the show. And to top it all off, they all speak over the top of each other. Love listening to 4 people speaking at once.

Walters sacking was more about how the Broncos fell out of the the 8. Everything rises and falls on leadership and ultimately it is unacceptable for a Broncos team to be defeated in effort and attitude and it is a coach/ leader/mentors job to keep that part at the forefront. When the Broncos loose to teams with half of their skill set not just in points but in attitude and effort, players jogging and taking plays off, players not celebrating each other regardless of the score, players doing the 1 percenters with half effort. It is the nature of the business.
