  • Another tremendous Steinman song that Bonnie Tyler blessed with her vocals. Thanks to my friend Pat for suggesting this!!

There are two kinds of people in the world, Steinmaniacs and everyone else. Following Jim’s lead, Steinmaniacs go over the top - “faster than the limits allow” - so they can see what’s on the other side. “It doesn’t matter what they lose, it only matters what they’re going to find.” In other words, damn the tire tracks, full “sparks” ahead! For everyone else, life is something of a lazy afternoon constitutional, a meandering sort of blasépalooza, drifting to and fro, ingloriously going nowhere slowly and not even bothering to leave broken hearts behind.
This song, fast and ferocious and fun, yet deep and dark and dangerous, voices the essential ethos of Steinmania: shedding the shibboleth of rusting nonchalance that anchors us to the daily grind, dispatching the inhibitions that drown our dreams in a quicksand of abandoned aspirations, and churning a feckless fear of failure into furious flames of forbidden fire - the flickering flashes of “phenomenal” that light our way everforward!
And who better than the sizzling Lauren Bradley to supply the sound of the voice of the essential ethos of Steinmania? As always, Lauren roars and soars and pours her incomparably passionate soul into the bombastically beating life force of the performance. But here, with “Tire Tracks and Broken Hearts” there’s even more (yet again) - an untamed strength, a feral radiance, an astonishing hint of awesome berserk that somehow impossibly adds an exclamation point named “Ohhhh Yeah!” to Jim’s words and music, to his songs and to his rhythm and to his mighty manifesto of wasted youth. If you, like all Steinmaniacs, “gotta get some proof that there’s a life after birth,” you need look no further than to that symbolic exclamation point - it’s all the proof you need!
I’ve said it before, twice now, maybe even more, but it’s worth saying yet again - carpe omnia, Lauren!
