The historical ties between the Somali peninsula and Makkah runs much deeper than the advent of Islam. Even before the emergence of Islam, Makkah was deeply connected to the Somali region. Among the 360 idols worshipped by the Quraish and other local tribes in pre-Islamic Makkah, many bore Somali names, highlighting the roots between the two regions. Furthermore, significant Somali clans trace their lineage back to Aqīl ibn Abī Ṭālib, the cousin of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Additionally, the Quraish, known as wealthy "zāwamāl" nomadic traders, operated extensively across the Red Sea, suggesting further links between Makkah and Somali Peninsula. Examining the practices and culture of the pre-Islamic Quraish alongside clans from the land of Punt (often referred to as the "Land of Gods," modern-day Somalia) reveals striking similarities. Somali nomadic sea-faring poets, renowned for their trading prowess, share similarities with the Quraish. Given these connections, it is plausible that Makkan tribes may have ancestral ties to the Somali Peninsula. Considering this historical context, it becomes understandable why Prophet Muhammad (SAW) initially directed his companions to Somalia and sought refuge with the neighboring King Najashi Axum.

That’s speaking about Habeshis. Not Somalis. بلاد الحبش is modern day Ethiopia/Eritrea. It could have potentially stretched to northern parts of modern Somali lands such as Somaliand, but nothing more.
Hence why Najeshi, who was the ruler of Habeshis, was Christian. Somalis were never, and have never had Christians. They were nomadic camel herders who believed in a religion named “Waqeefena” that’s connected to the Ethiopian ethnic group named “Oromos”, who still have followers of this religion.
It also would make sense post the saying of the prophet ﷺ. Ethiopians have never been conquered historically speaking. Rather they conquered the Arabs. Specifically modern day Yemen. Hence why “Abrah” who was the Christian Habeshi general brought with him an army of elephants (from Ethiopia) with him to destroy the Ka’bah. He came from Yemen, because Yemen was under Habeshi (Ethiopian) rule. Ethiopia is also the only African country that beat the western invaders from colonizing, not only once, but twice. Somalia was not only colonized, but colonized by three separate countries. By Italy (Somalia), UK (Somaliland), and France (Djibouti).

No Muqdisho was established by ethnic Somalis. You have a misconception that Somalis had an exclusively nomadic history, however coastal cities were established by Somalis in antiquity. 1. Nomadic lifestyles increased in Somalia due to Futuh al Habash. The war took a toll on both the Adal and Abyssinia and resulted in damaged trade routes, less agriculture and urbanism and an increase in nomadism. 2. Muqdisho has a Somali etymology(Muuq and Disho, literally Sight-killer
@@mysterymagicstone6625 Interesting. I was told that a lot of these cities were built by Arabs/Ethiopians. Hence why many Somali tribes claim an Arab lineage (Isaaq, Darod etc).
LOL, That's Bs. Mogadishu is in Somalia It was established by Somalis the word Mogadishu in itself is a Somali word. The modern barwanis are a mixture of Indian, Bantu, and Portuguese traders in Mogadishu at that time. They're not Arabs at all and their origins are pretty recent.

Islam doesn't belong to arabs... arabs literally killed and tried to erase muslims. Allah is the one who conquered them and he is the one that chooses the hearts he wins over with guidance and those he leaves astray. If we stayed as waaq it would just be a more degenerate version of today. Politics aside, Somali's one of the classiest and most honorable societal structures. The average somali will look for work where available and work theirselves to their limits, they will spend sadaqah on those needy in similar situations to themselves even if they dont have enough for themselves, they will show hospitality any visiting guests from other cities, villages, baadiyo by having their kids sleep on the floor and clear the beds. It it a shameful act to beg when you're able to work. Yes there's a bad wrap of ppl due to a minority of individuals but when you put the average somali and compare to the average arab... the arab is always much less honorable in their customs and normality. Same when you compare average whites, average indians, average, west africans... Average Somali customs ALWAYS top the charts on empathy, hospitality, and honourable customs on a societal level. Somalis scholars were very big in the shafia madhab. If you see any scholar with the name zaylaci or jaberti its means they are Somali. Somalis protected the grave of the prophet from the crusaders. They also have spread Islam all through out the Indian Ocean and Rasta bd South Africa. I don’t know what you hate Somalis but at least don’t try to lie
Somalis have a long history of over 5000 years. Our first major civilizations was the Land of Punt which was definitely in Somalia as they have tested the Frankincense in Egyptian tombs.3000 year old pottery from Babylon, Mycenae, and Egypt has been found on one of the old Somali coastal cities called Xafun. We have one of the oldest mosques in the world in Zeila that has two Qiblas which means before the Muslims turned toward Makkah. Our roots are firm in the religion and the region. Abysinnia had a good leader at the time while the Somali leaders may have been more corrupt. Regardless, Abysinnia became lrrelevant after Najashi (RA) passed away.

@s.o.m.a.l.i.a5800 There was also an empire in Somalia Ajuuraan Empire with a sultanate name from the 13th to the 17th century, so 400 years of empire in Somalia that is something you don't hear every day 🇸🇴
Didn’t they though? I thought Mogadishu was established by the Barwani/Xamar ethnic group, who are ethnically and culturally Arab. And Somalis being historically and culturally nomadic, ended up immigrating to these Arab/Ethiopian built cities. Would like to be educated if I’m wrong.
@@IbnSharif Who told you these things? Oromo fascist? LOL. Did you ask them how these Somali cities could be built by Ethiopians if they couldn't even manage to penetrate the the Somali kingdoms and sultanates at those times?
Keep your weird obsession against Somalis to yourself
I would believe you if we didnt took islam,Somali reliogion before arabs were WAAQ we been conquered some what
😂get out of here you Oromo waqist don’t try to claim us because we send the waqist to the next life
Islam doesn't belong to arabs... arabs literally killed and tried to erase muslims. Islam only enhanced the people of the land
Whatt😂, Waaq was literally Islam, we worshiped 1 God who, believed in Angels etc, we just didn’t have the 5 daily prayers, Quran and Sunnah.
@@nunuissa6376 fear Allah. Waq is not Allah.
@@zakariyaibrahim5264 Waaq means allah or the only god you know Arabs with other reliogion calls god for Allah, Allah, waaq, ilaah all have same meaning just Waaq is Somali,we still have manny cities named after like caabud waaq etc so relax god is god whatever name
To be honest I feel as though it’s manipulated history to force Islam and Somalia Somalia has always worshiped idols if you had such a presence in the past the prophet would have sent his companions there but I feel like Somalia wants to force it’s significance to because as important as Ethiopia the only common thing between Somalian history has been privacy understandable because they are next to water. But I feel as though your forcing yourself to have Islamic history when it’s clear you were only pagans
The oldest mosque in somalia is before the conquest of mecca, the somali people have a long history with islam.
What? Somali s were waqist before they got Islam they did not worship idols. Stop making up lies 😂😂. Also there is a mosque which faces the first qabil on Somali lands.
@@kurobeard9467 Islam is originally a somali religion highjacked by white Arabs.even the holy prophet Muhammad was a somali.ancient God os somalis was called Aaleh.identity theft just like Europeans saying that they are Jews so as to rod Palestinians of their country.somalis wake up
