Wonderful destination...a must visit place...just last Friday we had been there..it was raining cats and dogs there...the sea was very rough...had the most thrilling experience..the guide was well informed person..had great time..
I absolutely loved this video! I've only traveled through the Malaysian peninsula, but I have been interested in visiting Borneo in the future. The wildlife looks amazing ^^
By the way I really like you, you're a cool, friendly, sane, and good humoured person with good character and intentions. I'd say, very sentient, and I'm serious about that. You're like more sentient than normal.
'Monkey Pot'. That's new to me haha... I always know it as pitcher plant. Glad that you enjoy your trip to Bako. Hopefully you can make it to Mulu. I enjoyed both trips. Love your vlog by the way...
Thank you for promoting Bako National Park. Your videos are really helpful when it comes to what to expect in an area like Borneo. I haven't been to Bako, yet. But this Thursday I'll be heading there for a whole day trip under my agency's supervision. So it'll be fun, even if its under business, there's leisure to it I guess haha. hoping to see more of this wherever you go, make more vlog !
+NomadicRyan Right? I felt similarly when I traveled Malaysia- I felt I had to dig for adventurous options, but I'm glad I gave Malay Borneo a chance. And this particular place is 3-4 day must!
That's expected if your genuine and not trying to commercialize your channel! Maybe not as much views as the others, but definitely a real fan base that's appreciative! I've followed others that commercialized a place to be not what it is. They'll get more views but others will be disappointed when they get there because its not as advertised. Soo.. Keep doing what your doing!
+Jordan Mike I'll try to keep my chin up! I just know that vloggers seem to have an unfaltering following at times despite their content or non-information, whereas subject specific UA-camrs like myself can have an audience that can occasionally be conditional upon destination interest. Don't get me wrong, I love my fans and don't want to feel like I've let them down. But sometimes... I just wonder if I'm missing an ingredient.
A very well done vlog on Bako Nat Park. I spent a lot of time in that Park; The proboscis are a lot more harder to see that the silver leaf langur, but it seems you did not see them?
this is really interesting because I live in south Florida (Ft lauderdale/Miami) and there are a lot of parallels in this video for me. We have loooooots of mangroves here and the same muddy looking sand and little crabs. And there's alligators everywhere too instead of crocodiles.
Been wanting to do Borneo for a long time, especially to see the orangutans and pygmy elephants. You mentioned that you did it on a budget. Would love to see some tips on where to stay etc. I'm guessing most of the best places don't have internet presence... did you just show up or book months ahead?
Hi, I would like to go to this park but they don't charge me to book from their site, no one answers my emails and the numbers they put on the site don't work. do you kindly have any contact information for someone who works in that park?
+Gwen O what brand was it? Had a traveling gf with Tevas and they looked awesome and were so practical for hiking. but smellwise, they were like worn jogging shoes. Lol. That turned me off. I like ff because I'm lazy. they're still a lightweight packable, easy fashion and slim convertible. They're a quick slip on in bathrooms and hotels. That 3 sec of bending down to slip a strap on would annoy me. Haha.
GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa I was there in October for 4 weeks, just went for a vacation. I don't relocate until next year. But can't wait, it's gonna be so exciting.
North face should sponsor you because we are going to Sarawak in May and after watching your video I realized I need some North Face zip of leg pants. Thanks very much and if North Face doesn't sponsor your next trip , you tell me and I will buy some Mountain Hardwear pants instead . We are going to Malaysia for three months . We will spend a month in Sarawak and the rest of the time on the peninsula. Did you ever travel to Sumatra?
Ok I have a couple of questions for you if that's ok, as I'm looking into travelling to South or South-East Asia but as cheaply as possible. Do you know if Borneo is cheaper than India and Thailand? What did you mean that food was almost the same as local prices? I don't know what you mean by local, do you mean like in mainland Malaysia? Also, you said you have to pay for the water and that it is the only thing that's not cheap. Do you mean there is commercial bottled spring water for sale in the little villages and that it is the only thing we need there that is Western prices? My most important question is in relation to fruit. I have been chronically ill since childhood and have figured out that I need to eat mainly fruit to feel a bit better. So I'm pretty much a frugivore. I need to ask fruit is available and cheap there in Borneo, or is it too remote? Would I be able to access say 1,500 calories of fruit each day I was there for cheap? Thank you!
+eRRoRfully ha! I forgot to do a video. The toilet for that dorm felt like it was in a haunted room. I didn't like showering/using it, especially at night!
+Soniboy84 Hey, I just posted on FB-- tips about navigating Thailand during this unexpected mourning period of the King. You might already be there, so I hope all is ok.
Although I've never been to Asia, or anywhere else overseas, I believe lots of Asia have squat toilets which is basically a hole in the ground that you do your business in. It's at ground level so you simply squat on the ground, there is none of this sitting up pretty on a seat lol. In fact physiologically squatting is supposed to be the best way of doing a number two because it puts the lower colon like around the rectum into a straight position so that the stool can come out without dealing with a kink or bend in the pipe. When we are sitting up on a modern toilet, we have this bend in the pipe which makes it not as good. We need to hold our breath when we sit on the toilet and push, however we don't need to hold our breath when squatting as we are in our natural toilet-going position lol. What I do here at home in Australia with my modern toilet is I put buckets under my feet when I go my business to raise my feet higher. This is putting me more into a squatting position. It absolutely eliminates the stuff better and more easily. I've tested it a number of times by having my legs down then pushing, then putting them up and pushing, and it then comes out easier than it was when my legs where down. So at home, if you can get something to put under your feet to raise your legs up it will help you. Also you can lean forward a bit too which more fully puts you into the position you would be squatting in on the ground. Ideally we want to be squatting on the ground, however at home with a modern toilet it's usually not so viable an option. Also, if you ever find you haven't got anything to raise your legs up while sitting on a modern toilet, then as a half measure raise your legs up a bit by pulling your legs in and going onto your toes. This will raise your knees up a bit and unbend the pipe a little. Then while you're doing that you want to lean forward quite a lot, that will put you further into a squatting position. It won't be quite as good as having something under your feet, however it is better than nothing. You know many Asians that are used to squat toilets, when they are presented with using a modern toilet, often actually don't sit on the toilet to go, but get up and squat on the toilet seat and do their business that way! The only problem is the logistics of it means that they are more likely to poo on the back of the toilet seat instead of into the bowl. But it is the best position, pipe-wise.
I think you deserve way more views too. You are one of my favorite UA-cam travel vloggers. :)
+hiontheroad Thanks so much! I appreciate your saying that. All I can say is ..please share my channel with others! ;)
Your such a good story teller. I appreciate you filming it, so we can all share the adventure. Always love your video's. Greg
Thanks for watching Greg! Hope the kids enjoyed this one-- hope they get to go someday. Cheaper than Disneyland ;)
Wonderful destination...a must visit place...just last Friday we had been there..it was raining cats and dogs there...the sea was very rough...had the most thrilling experience..the guide was well informed person..had great time..

PatMax Adventures recommended u go in June for Gawai celebration or July for Rainforest Festival... google it
Wow! What an adventure! So beautiful and those baby monkeys were adorable!
I think we all wish at some point, we could own one of those! ;)
By the way I really like you, you're a cool, friendly, sane, and good humoured person with good character and intentions. I'd say, very sentient, and I'm serious about that. You're like more sentient than normal.
Favorite video so far! Stunning!
Glad you enjoyed it!

+NomadicRyan Right? I felt similarly when I traveled Malaysia- I felt I had to dig for adventurous options, but I'm glad I gave Malay Borneo a chance. And this particular place is 3-4 day must!

I'm surprised you don't have lots of views, your videos are professional!!
+Mira Elsa = I guess I have to work harder. eep! ;) Please share my channel and spread the word so I get more views in there. ;)

Didn't get to see the silver leaf. Only found out about them when I got home.
They are not as spectacular as the proboscis, but the sight of a mother and juvenile is one of an odd spectacle; the young one being orange in colour
Wow...
So cool !
Beautiful!
have you visited the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre? it's where the orang utans live in the wild. you can see them during their feeding time.
Yesss +craveforpotatoes. I had to go twice to see them once! It's beautiful. Did you see them on your first shot?
this is really interesting because I live in south Florida (Ft lauderdale/Miami) and there are a lot of parallels in this video for me. We have loooooots of mangroves here and the same muddy looking sand and little crabs. And there's alligators everywhere too instead of crocodiles.
+Elijah Xavier You have all that in Miami??? I didn't know it was that wild. =) I guess you'd feel right at home here then.

+Duder Baptiste Thanks for tuning in again! Planning on Southeast Asia or are you already in?

0:29 There's a writing on that box saying "Pembunuh"... Its means Killer in Malaysia... I don't think I'm gonna feel comfortable going there...
Nice, video. What's the camera your using?
it rained when I was in kuching too, but I unlike you, I was too chicken to go to bako in the rain 😌
I was lucky-- the rains were passing showers in most cases. =D

Thanks and +Billy Chandra Have you been to Malaysia at all yet?
Malaysia, the mainland, yes I have, KL, but I have never been to Malaysia Borneo yet.. :)

Arahorn Don't worry, lots of our stuff here are cheaper than main malaysia like KL for example. There are a lot different kinds of fruits here too.
how did the toilet look like in this Jungle?
I would like to know that too.
+eRRoRfully ha! I forgot to do a video. The toilet for that dorm felt like it was in a haunted room. I didn't like showering/using it, especially at night!

GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa As long as you respect the nature, you're doing fine. Also, 'they' don't understand English so that's a plus lol
