Personally, I think the Hit style guide really shows just how much that era was missing the main thing I think makes Thomas so great: respect. Awdry respected his audience and his subject matter deeply, Alcroft respected her audience and mostly respected her subject matter, Brenner respected the subject matter and his audience as much as Mattel let him, and their eras with the IP were good because of it. Between all the grammatical mistakes, the way they dumbed down the characters, and the way that they were constantly comparing the characters to children that the people writing this style guide had no respect for the IP or their audience, and were just using Thomas's popularity to make a kids show for kids, and nothing else.

You know what’s really upsetting? The educational concepts laid out in this bible and show aren’t bad, the problem is how they’re spelled out and simplified, like kids couldn’t recognize the name of a location on Sodor unless it was repeated like Knapford Station, Gordon’s Hill, Lord Callan’s Castle, or the color and number of an engine when it’s obvious on screen. Kids are much smarter than you think! It feels like one of those beginner books that they make you read in kindergarten with simplified short sentences, but worse. Surprisingly, “boomed” isn’t on the vocab list, I know that was a word they LOVED using whenever Sir Topham Hatt was on screen. It makes me wonder if they actually tested this new format with kids?

If talking trains were real, I can honestly imagine the engines hating the show after Hit Entertainment bought the TV series. That also means, many of them never resumed liking the series after Mattel bought it and brought fans to write the show because of how their proper personalities are never revived and have their personalities from the Hit Era, it's so obvious that they were still applying that goddamn bible. It's so sad. Some engines probably do like the Brennersaince, but many of them don't. This is my speculation. Too bad talking trains don't exist.

The Hit era wasn’t perfect, but it was a decent attempt at Thomas in the modern era. I had fond memories watching the Hit seasons, and there are some good episodes here and there.

I think using Thomas and friends to teach navigation is really clever, why? Well, a train has to go to a certain place and the rails take it there and when you go somewhere you have to go a certain way or you will get lost.
Edward should be on the main line. James should be a branchline engine. Edward is larger than James. The FR K2 was huge, while James is based on a 0-6-0 ffrom what is now LMS.

I think what they mean is that, in the US, season 7 had not been released prior to the season 8 format change, and since Thomas & Friends had generally been a year behind in the US prior to season 8, this meant that US version of season 7 was effectively rushed to release, and folded into season 8. Heck, I don't think we even got DVDs of season 7 until season 9 was releasing.
