- See what food to expect on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship for lunch at its buffet restaurant, the Windjammer Marketplace! During our late December 2021 cruise on the Odyssey of the Seas, we ate at the buffet for lunch for several days. Here we give you a tour of what you have to eat and drink daily, along with food that were unique on different days.

P.S. I admire your politeness in thanking the food servers -- many come from poor countries and send much of what they earn to their families back home. They deserve everyone's gratitude and respect and you're a wonderful example of exactly the kind of passenger I would want to be sailing with.

I would go on a cruise just for the food - to eat from the buffet 10 or more times per day. But I would tell everyone that it's about experiencing oceanic travel. 😂

I noticed that too, I hope who ever made this video edits that part out. People will most likely think being on a cruise ship is unsanitary. With Covid still going, they need to review the upload before posting.

Wow the food look delicious with endless of choices. There are many options of desserts and good selections of vegetables/seafood/meat dishes and they look phenomenal! I love cruising and can’t wait to go on my next cruise. I personally prefer the crew members to serve people because it’s much more sanitary and less food waste. I am a fan of buffets going to non-self serve, even leaving covid out of it, it IS more sanitary and cleaner.. Yeah yeah, "I can't take as much as I want!", well yes you can, just ask the person for more, it's easy.

So enjoy the extra charge. You should live in a third world country for a while before crying over self-serve buffets in the west. Here's a thought. Don't like them. Well then you can eat at the MDR or one of the specialty restaurants.
You get plenty and then some. So many people take too much and then waste.
Yes, but on the other hand now you have servers who make sure that you don't swoop up the best bits and leave the cheap fillers behind. At the end of the day there are always spreadsheets, graphs and bottom lines and the cheaper they get you filled up the better for the bottom line.

@@TravelTouristVideos Yes, this Transatlantic is Royal’s Arctic Crossing from Denmark to Norway, Iceland, ending in Boston. Royal offered me this when my May trip from Miami to Rome cancelled. Royal gave me a great deal!

I hope you're a vegan for actual health reasons. If not you're hindering yourself during a time when cruises are trying to get back on their feet.
@@davidfence6939 It really doesn't matter why someone is vegan. It's becoming way more common for many reasons and it's good to see companies catering to people with different dietary requirements.

I know your videos focus on breakfast, lunch and dinner foods, have you considered videos of like Cafe al Bacio or the Gelateria on the Celebrity Summit (dessert/bakery type places)? The food was always awesome, we prefer to dine in the specialty restaurant on the ship. The windjammer is good for breakfast and we also enjoy room service. We can’t wait to be back on Royal Caribbean

I loved the food in the Windjammer Cafe aboard the Adventure of the Seas in early Nov. '21. My fave place to eat. Just wish at that time they had dinner service too.

Thank you for posting. I'm taking my mom on Mariner of the Seas at the end of April, so I am sure the buffets are similar. She has a lot of dietary restrictions, so good to see there truly is something for everyone. And I personally can't wait to enjoy the indian food!

Thanks for the videos. Have been chomping at the bit for over 2 years now as our April 2021 cruise was canceled and we rebooked April this year. Have not been on an ocean cruise in over 20 years. Do you know if we are able to take a tray of food from the buffet to our room?

Foods better than carnival. That’s a fact
I went to BKK, Thailand and stay at Hilton. They asked you to put mask on until you are ready to eat. They check your names in, then they sent you two plastic groves to use. We pick up our foods by ourself, but they brought you coffee or tea.

Well I am only a 1 time cruiser. But I can tell you for sure it’s nothing like being in a smaller boat. You don’t even feel like you’re on the water. It’s so smooth like it is like being in its own floating city. And the food was amazing! That was 10 years ago and has to be one of best things I’ve ever done. Just go for it but having to leave the boat for the last time was so depressing. I would have stayed on there for months and been one happy grandma! Do it! You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Sailing and cruising are very different for safe measures if you feel like your going to get Sea Sick a doctor can give a patch behind the ear (something so you won't get Sea Sick ). The majority of the time you don't feel it in these huge ships . 😊

I was just on the Freedom of the Seas and I must say, the food here looks a lot better.
Oh no- I hope not more cutbacks because it already felt like there were some!
Yes , my girlfriend went on Freedom of Seas 2019 out of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 the food wasn't that good even Special Restaurants. They were unfortunately on that cruise where the Grandfather held Granddaughter out of window and the toddler fell out and died .
I like that the crew serves. Stations don't look so disgusting messy/people slopping food. Great video. Although I wi never take a cruise I love watching you.

Did yous enjoy the North Star, Bolt (Carnival), bumper cars, roller skating and iFly? I was booked on Anthem of the Seas with Jerry and then the pandemic happened! I hope to take Jerry on a fun cruise at some point! Jerry is not really interested in cruising with HAL at this point. Maybe he would like Mardi Gras? I don't feel safe booking Carnival or flying out of the country right now! I know he would like a tropical cruise with a balcony cabin!
The North Star was pretty interesting with nice views. Lasts only about 10-15 minutes though. Bumper cars were pretty fun but rough. iFly is a bit tough but fun to try once.

I hope the diet is working or do you not use the lifts ( Elevators) and use the stairs instead. We have dropped all travel restrictions as of the 18th of March in the UK

You know what I have worked on a cruise ship but the food looks good and appealing. I am from Hawaii and many ships come to Hawaii. Usually from California. My comments are how is the pay and how many days and hours do you have to work?You have to
I would imagine it depends on the position. You can checkout job openings for the major cruise lines and those listings might show how much pay is involved. Good luck!
Just came off the NCL Encore third week of November 2022 and all Covid restrictions were relax and you could serve yourself, and hand washing was encouraged but not required. No problems aptitude illness, Great cruise!
Food offerings were better in NCL’s buffet compared to what you’ve showing here.

My wife and I were on the Mariner for our first cruise back in September and the buffet wasn’t that great. Food temps were cool and some items seemed soggy. We tried it once for lunch and after that, we weren’t fans.

Are there vending machines ( chips/snacks) on cruise ships?
There aren't but you can get snacks 24/7 a the Cafe Promenade. For potato chips, if you'll be on the Odyssey or another Quantum-class ship, you can find them at the Cafe 270: ua-cam.com/video/ZXquYZdfJIs/v-deo.html

Yeah seems like Royal is going back back to the pre-pandemic ways with the self-serve. Though from what I hear it is just some ships, but yeah they're probably going to do self-serve for all ships eventually if not already. Hope cruises restart for you guys on schedule- looks like in a few months or even sooner!

From our recent Carnival cruise- it was jam packed with folks, self-serve at the buffet and only like 2 to 3% of the guests were wearing masks indoors since it's no longer mandatory. We came out of it okay- a little under the weather but tested negative for COVID. We'd prefer crew serving for sure.

We are praying that we can get insurance that will cover covid19 before then....we had no insurance at all that will cover covid19 here in Australia at the moment... And it's getting worrying... We are praying very hard for at least one will do it or we will not be able to cruise ..... For they will let you cruise without insurance...

We enjoy eating vegetarian food and we thought they had a decent selection. Every night at the main dining room they will have at least one appetizer & main entrée that are vegetarian.
