Fabulous Stuart, really made me want to go back to that spot, the first and only time I went I felt so unwell I had to give up and then I tested positive for Covid so off home I went. Love the images .
Stunning conditions you've got there Stuart. Love Borrowdale and the weathers just right I think it's hard to beat. Great set of images with that lovely pano to start. Really like that last shot too - given how cold it was I think that it has a lovely warmth to it (if that makes any sense). Glad to hear that you're over the worst of your illness.
Good to see you vloging again, think I saw you doing a 1to1 by Otter Island last week waiting for the light. Yes,it's been some cracking conditions the past 2 weeks although a bit to cold at times . Love how you can find a composition of a situation that you passed many times, but the light makes a difference.
Thanks yeah you likely did I’ve been down there a couple of times recently with clients - yes it’s been wonderful conditions the past fortnight nice to see so many photographers out enjoying it
Beautiful scenes captured Stuart. Loved the way you incorporated the colours which come thro gently from the frosty ground. Wonderful. Glad you're over the illness. Have a good xmas up there 👍
Stunning photography yet again. You’ve sold that lens to me, I’m mainly a wildlife photographer and absolutely adore my 100-400mm, but you’ve proved that 24-200mm is so amazingly capable, of course it does need your artistic eye for seeing such superb scenes
Great start with a birds eye view of the terrain with the drone, outstanding photography again. It’s been great weather for getting out with the camera and you give me food for thought when I am out. Thank you your efforts are most appreciated. Hope you keep well for the rest of winter .
Really like those, Stu. I've got nearly a week off from Saturday, so I'm hoping the weather plays ball with me as I'm ready to get out with my camera again now that I can see properly.
Lovely set of images there mate, stunning conditions. My pocket packed up Sunday too (as you probably saw!) - annoying you can't replace the batteries in them
Cheers mate yeah was at 50% battery then shut off, though in fairness they are fairly extreme conditions. Think the pocket 3 is coming out soon hope it has a replaceable battery
Cheers Simon I’ve actually been forced into buying the z7ii so the other one is still getting repaired, camera repairers generally are horrific! 8 weeks I was quoted for a basic screen repair
Cracking images Stuart. Hope that coffee warmed you up a bit. More cold weather en-route I believe so shove a hand warmer in your camera bag to stop stuff freezing up. 😂😂
Stunning set of images Stuart, what beautiful scenery. My Stepdaughter and her partner have gone up to Scotland today for a few day, not sure exactly where but heading towards the Highlands, they want to live there in a few years once she gets her nursing degree, she’s 26 so young enough to try and if it doesn’t work come back home. They’re not photographers but just using their phones without using the Pro settings managed to just capture the Milky Way, the snow is still very deep too, just beautiful. I’ve seen so much beautiful scenery around the Lakes, both in person and on here but also Scotland that even though next year is probably the first year since 2019 that I’m able, both medically and financially, to go abroad, back to where I’ve wanted to live since 1996 in Tenerife, I’m looking to book for a break in the Lakes earlier in the year and a week or two in Scotland late in the year, possibly even Christmas. Think I need to get practicing my Landscape Photography seeing as I’m mainly a Street Photographer
Great images Stuart - definitely jealous - wasn't around all week when the frost was around - was in New York for a few days so didn't expect to be green with envy of those who were around the Lakes - how wrong could I be?
Good to see you back to form and making the most of these great winter conditions. just wondered whether you did a focus stack on the Castle Crag image as you suggested, especially as it was shot @f8, and also whether you focus stacked each element of the pano or just the Castle Crag part. Thanks for a wonderful video.
Thanks Michael - yes the left part of the frame is focus stacked as even at F8 DoF was an issue being only about 10 yds from the prominent tree on the right at roughly 70mm
@Stuart McGlennon Hi Stuart good to see your back in good health,..I have the 24-200 for the last year and find I am not using ranges from about 120mm up,so my question is that have you had the opportunity to compare the image quality between the 24-120z and the 24-200z from a printing perspective .
Hi Bob - funnily enough I just did a test recently with these two lenses (client lent me the 24-120), I've not done a print comparison though I have scrutinised the files at 200% in Lightroom side by side. My observations are these: the 24-120 is hair sharper up to about 40mm, then from 40mm onwards they're basically the same. If constant aperture/low light shooting isn't a priority where you desperately need F4, for my own work the extra reach is of far more value to me as I frequently shoot between 120-200mm. I'd struggle to give a landscape photographer a good argument to get the 24-120mm as the image quality difference is negligible at best. Where the 24-200 is weakest at the wide end I always use my 14-30mm anyway.
@@StuartMcGlennon Hi Stuart, thanks so much for your detailed reply you were obviously burning the midnight oil last night, it's great to have this detailed information because it isn't given in any comparison videos and photographer's reviews on UA-cam etc,in general having reviewed comparison videos I have seen very little difference also with the exception of build quality in favour of the 24-120,..thanks again Stuart for the answers I needed, myself mainly I shoot woodland photographyso there's no need to change as having that extra reach for me is far more advantageous than loosing a slight bit of sharpness on the wider side.
Fabulous Stuart, really made me want to go back to that spot, the first and only time I went I felt so unwell I had to give up and then I tested positive for Covid so off home I went. Love the images .
Thanks Andrew, that’s a shame though I know that feeling I’ve had covid 3 times!
What a stunning set of photos. The weather gods certainly made photography something else these last couple of weeks
Thanks Ian it’s been brilliant
Stunning location, even more stunning conditions! You did it justice!
Thanks very much Mark
What a stunning video. Thanks for posting Stuart.
Thanks Kathryn

Hi Stuart, please you are over the illness mate, this was a lovely video to watch & the results are superb, well worth the cold fingers.
Cheers Shaun
Some great images, Stuart, in challenging but beautiful conditions.
Thanks Gary

Very kind Hilary 👍 yes the 100-400 is a brilliant lens I love mine too though I wish I could use it more often
Lovely video Stuart! I'll be in the lakes in January and would die for some winter scenes like this, and your skills in capturing them!
Thanks Justin hopefully the long term outlook for a cold(ish) winter holds true
Beautiful images Stuart💙
Thanks Anne

Awesome images! Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks Randy
Beautiful images Stuart. Great video. You live in one of the most beautiful areas in the world!
Cheers Craig 👍

Thanks Ian best of luck with your shooting
I guess photography can be like fishing - better when the weather's bad. Hope you got warmed up though. Beautiful light! Thanks,
Thanks Tom
SNAP - had the same health issues last 2 weeks and was desperate to get out into the snow this week
Think a lot of people have weaker immune systems at the moment post-covid
stunning images Stuart!
Thanks Chris
Great images mate. The 24-200 is a great lens.
👍👍
Great stuff Stuart, good to see you out again. Have a lovely Christmas.
Thanks Michael
Oh my goodness! Stunning photos! WOW!
It’s minus 34 Celsius here! 🥶😀
Thanks Shannon 👍 are you in the US? It looks like it’s going to be very cold again over there

I just found your channel... great post!
Cheers Walter
Good to see the Z7 back at the coalface 🙂 Can't separate the 3 shots this time as all are superb. Very n ice 🧊
Cheers Simon I’ve actually been forced into buying the z7ii so the other one is still getting repaired, camera repairers generally are horrific! 8 weeks I was quoted for a basic screen repair
@Stuart McGlennon oh no 😢 I know what you mean though. 8 weeks is actually "good" ! It's always good to have backup/horrific conditions body 😜
Great images Stuart - and such fantastic conditions! Harder to work in the cold like this - but well worth the effort! Cheers.
Thanks Alan 👍
Cracking images Stuart. Hope that coffee warmed you up a bit. More cold weather en-route I believe so shove a hand warmer in your camera bag to stop stuff freezing up. 😂😂
Thanks Colin - I tried that! Fairly extreme cold though so it’s understandable with the smaller gadgets

Cheers Mark hope you had a good trip - though you’ll be sick as parrot when you see what I was shooting in the next video on Thursday lol
@@StuartMcGlennon Well I shan’t watch it! 😝😝😝
Wow, that looked cold!!! Wonderful images though, well worth it 🙃
Thanks Claire 👍

Are you looking south toward Castle Crag from the south end of Derwent Water?
Yes I am
Do you mainly shoot with 24-200?
Yes I shoot many images with it, probably 50/60% of my images
