Nice story from Wayne, but I don't care for the way ICAP used it.

HOW exactly did women suffer more in war? It was always men who were drafted and forced to go to war and likely die. Women got to stay home. What, is their worrying somehow worse than being in war, witnessing horrible events that give you PTSD, disabilities, injuries, and even death?! And it was always men who were drafted, because of this stupid standard that men are supposed to be the big strong man who do all of the work and protect everyone having all of that stress, responsibility, and deadlines without shedding a tear.

You need to do more research on your own question. You are assuming that war is only made on military personnel. Much war is made on the civilians in the country where it occurs. Civilian suffering is often of unbelievable proportions. Women represent a great deal of that suffering, death and violence when occupying forces take out their own misery on innocent civilians (and women in these circumstances are considered "fair game" and a target). Women have to try to handle it without any weapons to fight back... Having said that, Wayne is commenting on the trigger of his own creativity - his mother's wisdom and cleverness to find items, toys, art supplies to inspire her 2 sons creativity. And this during the great depression when both his parents worked 2 jobs just to put food on the table. I studied his music in university and as a musician and music teacher, as he speaks, I too can see the cause of his wonderful compositional ability. When he was a child, the key women in his life made sure he had all the tools they could provide, to inspire him to genius (which he is!). Sadly, he lost his own partner in a tragic plane crash.

The men die, but the women are left behind in pain.
