- I play a Magic the Gathering Online Legacy league with Cephalid Breakfast, the combo-control Urza's Saga deck I'm testing for Eternal Weekend. This is my update of the Staff of the Storyteller control build I won SCG Baltimore with earlier this year. The Breakfast community seems to have moved entirely onto Stoneforge Mystic for its backup plan, but I still have hope for drawing cards and taking my time to win. Orcish Bowmasters be damned! Is breakfast good again?! MTG

True, but that's Legacy. Always a wide variety of nonsense. IMO, that's part of the appeal.
@@Tooldruid Oh, I completely agree. There's so many cool options in Legacy, and that's awesome! And Brian himself said that it's still good testing because some people will still play off-meta decks, but it is a little frustrating.

I think if an interaction causes you not to win the game, its probably pretty good. Legoal's Quick Reflexes and Dryad Arbor is a really dope interaction.

It feels like a bad card that somehow lines up really well in the Legacy meta. Reach is huge against DRC, Murk and Delver. Split Second is huge against FoW. It can act as a one mana, uncounterable removal spell in a color that doesn't usually have access to removal. Oh, and even the lack of indestructible normally on these cards is okay. Sweepers just don't see a lot of play in a Bowmaster Legacy.
And I didn't mention it's machine-gun combo potential with an untapper.

What exactly pushed Breakfast and Painter out of the meta? Cuz i swear a few months ago these were the ‘secret’ answer to the meta

And Painter is still around (deck largely ignores Bowmaster, as it only kills Goblin Welder)

One doubt I have: Is it a good idea in 24:00 to go to second phase (losing your colourless mana and them losing 2) to play around dismember? You have 1 mana leftoever anyway.

Is that pendelhaven an anti bowmaster trick, and the reflexes a way to brick it and remove it? Man, elves are kinda desperate rn
Out of curiosity, is there a reason you don't see Plague Engineer as anti-Bowmasters tech? I feel like it's gotta have some role in draw heavy decks to make it less of a blowout.
because bowmasters is the best answer to bowmasters so just play your own if you need one that bad

"Is Breakfast good again?" No is the short answer, as much as I hate to say it with Breakfast being one of my favourite decks ever
I think breakfast is still fine
Honestly I just think staff of the storyteller isnt good, and was maybe good for a small moment. Bowmasters makes me really not impressed.

i really dont like staff nor foundry in this deck.
the deck functions best with stoneforge + caldra compleat.
teferi and orims chant for combo turns.
everything is built for one purpose except the 1 caldra compleat. that makes the deck great.
staff and swords in main, just arent the way to go. play pattern of staff is just nothing i want in this deck.
Doomsday should be a better positioned deck than Breakfast, because you can win through a lot of the hate that gets Breakfast. The sideboard pivot gives a lot of versatility.
