    I've been really pleased with the Mora Eldris. It is one of the fist Mora blades i've owned, and i've been happy with it's performance so far. It's a great blade for utility type work that you would need to do in the backcountry. Whether it is bushcraft specific type work or just needing to carve a feather stick, cut some cord, or anything else, it will get the job done.

    A little trick: You can put the handle of the knife in the sheath and you'll get a longer/better grip :)

    Agreed! I've got one of these that I use on some backpacking trips and it does make a great little utility knife. TFS!

    Nice Firebox Nano Stove. I love this little Mora Eldris knife. It is super sharp and the sheath works great inverted to extend the handle.

    Great review.....simple and to the point. Well done, thank you for sharing. I own this knife and find that is very useful. I have found that people either love this knife or they hate it. I am a fan. I absolutely love Mora knives. That blue is a very cool color. Thanks again for the video!

    You can also put it in a pocket and secure it via the paracord. So you are also flexible with this thing. Molle / backpack pockets can also work.

    You're a ninja in my eyes Devin...lol. Great review, everyone else is fixated on making mods and sheaths for the Eldris but your the first of my subscriptions to review it. You're also first person that I've seen with the sky blue version, looked awesome. Thanks for the review.

    I guess ok for some tasks, as long as you also have a normal knife with you. No matter what you say, the handle is too short for me. What does "Eldris" mean?

    • @EattinThurs61
      @EattinThurs61 7 років тому

      Larry Kramer It is the name of an summer farmstead in the Mora area. If you watch the biggest crosscountry skirace "Wasaloppet" you will notice that Eldris is one of the places along the route. Picture Google it. This is sort of a modern "Fäbodkniv ". Picture Google it.

      Eattin--very interesting, but I couldn't find a Larry Kramer farm in Sweeden. Google is all full of Larry Kramer the gay activist who liked to spit on people even though he knew he had AIDs. He didn't care because he knew he was going to die, and he did. I am not anti-gay, but this guy was obnoxious and I am stuck with his name. I will try some of your other Swedish things. Thanks.

    I just purchased mine from my Dealer and it arrived today. Did you know that you can put the handle of this knife into the sheath and it extends the handle grip. I really like your review and it influenced me to make this purchase. Thanks

      AJ Usog that's too bad cause it's a great blade.

    • @jgreystoke
      @jgreystoke 7 років тому +3

      +AJ Usog I have both the Eldris and the dirt cheap Mora 511 Basic. The latter has only two grinding operations after being stamped out on the 120 ton press: Scandi side of the blade. The Eldris has six grinds: scandi each side, profile each side behind tip, two separate sharp 90 degree grinds on the spine. With three times the machining, that will cost more. Also the 511 has been produced in the millions, so economy of scale, and they can make a profit with small markup due to volume of sales over decades. Also the Eldris tang is actually stronger and more substantial, just check out Morakniv website.
      The 511 handle has been improved, but is a single hard plastic, which is slick. It relies on the large guard and parrot's beak or hook at the rear for retention. The handle of the Eldris is the same hard plastic molding underneath and at the sides, over-molded with a very grippy rubber for a great grip, but more manufacturing cost. The spine of the 511 is totally unfinished after stamping out, which allows them to sell it very cheaply.
      Even though smaller and lighter(2.2 oz knife only, 2.8 oz with sheath), the Eldris is considerably more expensive to produce, although cost should come down somewhat over time. I consider it worth it, for the same reason that I consider my Becker BK9 to be worth it vs my bigger and cheaper Martindale Paratrooper, Golok, and Bolo, my Ontario Military, Camp Cutlass etc. I am not a collector, I use everything(orchard, gardens, woodshed, bushcraft), or sell it.
      I do go on lol. You stay safe, no matter what your preference:).

    LOL $22 - $40 on Amazon for a 2" Mora Eldris, that is about as silly as a $100 Mora Garberg, when this Eldris comes down to $5 I'll get one, otherwise, they can keep it.

    This is the worst knife I own. It doesn't do fine feathersticks, it's hard on the hands to make large cuts with, doesn't cut paracord easily and it threatens to cut my hand if I'm not careful removing the knife from it's sheath. Other than that, its a great knife. Love it for making bow drill sets and doing a bit of carving, but I don't use it for much else.
