    The base model the VT was gorgeous in my opinion one of the best car designs of the time.. When I first saw it it blew my mind.

    Its so sad to look back at videos like this and know Holden is gone... that there was passion and love involved in the design process.

    Great story, well done to Simcoe and the other Holden engineers who worked on this car in their own time to create another legendary Aussie car.

    Kudos to the designers and engineers who made this dream a reality. The proportions are just spot on. 20 plus years on and the design still looks fresh and very cool.

    I wish they made more of those 427 Monaros

    Had Holden put together an affordable 427 Monaro, they would have sold plenty. Very cool part of Australian automotive history.

      Using the race-bred 7L V8 engine is a dead giveaway. It should have no problem using the road-focused 7L V8 counterpart.

    You should have sold the holden company to some Arab investment funds...I'm here in Saudi Arabia and holden cars are very popular here...I've vx Commodore & I love it.

      That's the genius behind this type of format ...you can personalize it from readily available bits from the factory parts bin.

    That starting song at the beginning, definitely captures the feel and emotion behind this brilliant car 👌🏻
    Any chance there’s a song name to it?

      For anyone wondering, it’s Bruce Maginnis’ ‘Common Ground’

    Genius low budget engineering ...unlike the over developed over priced shit boxes on the roads today.

    Still loving the Monaro design. The HRT 427 could've been Holden's answer to Porsche 911 996.2 GT3 RS and Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale.

    IMO Holden stuffed up with this. If they had of built a more road focused Monaro GTS 427 instead of the more track focused HRT 427 it could have been cheaper and one that ended up being sold to the public.

      It was made to compete in Bathurst 12 hour but they only built 2 roadcars... Overseas they only allowed 5.7 engine and it got thrashed by GT3 cars without the 7.0 Corvette engine...

    Notice ford Australia didn’t even bother to invest in a two door v8 instead sticking to outdated piles of shit to the end. And so it was written that Holden shall forever have the king of the mountain and finish with the mighty w427 and ford go out with a whimper having nothing in there parts bin to even bother competing. Instead the old gaurd will continue to tell us what a legendary car the ford hardtops are when in fact they were an understeering bucket of crap.

    • @rodneymcgiveron
      @rodneymcgiveron 3 роки тому

      And you are a dickhead......No knowledge ....Ford's last two door was in 1978 with the XC...why would the spend millions to build a two door car that was ceasing production anyway...Far from being crap they'd at least not have to rely on parts bin GM Opel to put a car together...As for the W427....totally over rated , over priced and would still not keep up with lots of XR6 Turbo Falcons or many Miami powered V8 Falcons much less the F6's and FPV GT's ...couldn't even safely drive it on wet roads with the ridiculous tyres they put on it ..The VT etc Monaro's though were a bloody good car in their day and still look good...

    • @Schnooblers
      @Schnooblers 3 роки тому +1

      @@rodneymcgiveron actually if you go look at the warren luffs laptime at wakefield park, you'll find the W427 was about a second a lap quicker than an F6, and almost 3 seconds quicker per lap than an XR6 turbo. facts don't lie mate, HSV was always superior to FPV in terms of chassis tuning.
