Hello Vee, welcome to my channel, you can plug directly to your motherboard argb and to use your motherboard to control or you can get the lian li argb cable kit that converts standard 3pin argb plug to a 3pin JST03 plug for you to plug to your uni controller and make sure your uni controller is V2 where it has 2 sata connectors. As strimer plus takes up alot of ampere current.

If you are, maybe you can try this. uninstall L-Connect 3 app using Revo Unistaller www.revouninstaller.com/ , remove all the residue files and registery. Next turn off your pc, just plug only the V2 controller and boot it up.. see does it crash on you? if it does not, install the L-Connect 3, reboot the system. If it goes well, plug your strimer plus v2 strips.

This way you will have more argb effects. Btw it defeat the purpose of connecting your strimer plus controller to the uni controller as you lose the new argb effects designed specially for your strimer plus v2, using the L-Connect 3 application.

I do not have any solution for you but you might want to try these steps to see if it helps.. instructions as follow : Basic Troubleshooting steps 1) Make sure you motherboard bios is up to date, please check on your motherboard manufacture website, under support > bios and drivers. See if there are issues with USB and do they have a fix. If there is, kindly update those bios firmware version. 2) Make sure your chipset driver for your motherboard is up to date!. For AMD will be at www.amd.com/en/support for Intel will be Intel Driver & Support Assistant Intel DSA www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html 3) Remove all argb apps (Asus Armory Crate / MSI Dragon Center / Giga Fusion / Asrock Polychrome). If the brands which I have mentioned, do have a uninstall tool like the Asus Armory Crate, use that. Else use Revo uninstaller ( www.revouninstaller.com/ ) to uninstall the apps as mentioned. Revo uninstaller will remove all unwanted files / folder / registry in your system. Illustration to use revo uninstaller ua-cam.com/video/uMgUYiakpxM/v-deo.html 4) Shutdown your PC, unplug the PSU cable from your AC outlet. Press the power switch twice to discharge all current that your motherboard is holding. Leave it for 45 second 5) While waiting, please do not use KVM switches. If your mouse and keyboard is connected to your monitor, please remove them and plug them directly to your motherboard instead. 6) Plug only one Uni controller or Strimer Plus V2 controller. If its for Uni Fan (SL/AL) use only 3 fans to an output. 7) Plug the power cable and turn on your PC 8) Go to your Device Manager, look under Universal Serial Bus Devices, make sure you see the Lian Li uni / strimer plus V2 controller. 9) Install the L-Connect 3 app only lian-li.com/l-connect3/ (current version 1.2.6) 10) After installation, run the program, check under Setting > General > make sure Auto-Run on Boot and Minimized L-Connect 3 to system tray at close are ON. 11) Reboot your system. 12) First thing you need, go to device manager and see if the Lian Li controller is listed, next open up the L-Connect 3 app. Check if there is a need to update firmware to your controller. Go to Settings > Update, under Device F/W version, click on Update Check, download and install the firmware. Make sure the firmware is completed. Do a check on device manager and make sure the Lian Li controller is listed. 13) On L-Connect 3 dashboard, check if the CPU and GPU readings are reacting, you might want to test it using some benchmark programs. If there are reaction, play with the PWM and argb functions. If it does not work, skip step 14) and proceed step 16) 14) If Single controller works, shutdown your pc, connect uni fan set of 3 to your output of your uni controller. Do it small steps at a time to hook up your sets of fans. do not do all in one go. If successful and you have a second controller, proceed small step at a time again. 15) Slowly plug back your USB devices (Headset, Microphone, Printer, USB Capture Card and etc). At any point of time as you add those devices one at a time, if L-Connect 3 become unresponsive. This tells you that there power is insufficient to power up more USB Devices. Whatever USB port on your motherboard, there is a limitation as the current are shared across the board, be it front or back I/O and the internal USB Header. You might need to get a Internal USB Hub that comes with a Sata Power source to the Internal USB Hub. (Disclaimer, buying a internal usb hub might or might not resolve this issue, purchase at your own expenses) 16) If it does not work, report your issues to Lian li Tech Support. There is a in build log ticketing system in L-Connect 3 app. this is what you need to do. Go to Settings > Support > Click on “Download log” place a filename and choose a destination drive to save the log file. Next click on “Report” it will take you to Lian Li Tech Support FAQ. Fill up the form and upload the log which is a zip file.

Hi Hinotama Fyreheart, welcome to my channel. just a question. are you using the Strimer Plus V1 or V2, for V1, there is a controller where you do the argb colors on the physical controller. If you are using the Strimer Plus V2, it does come with the controller but you will need to use L-Connect 3 Application to set the colors.

@@KleoYan I Got it f ixed but that brings me into another problem. The GPU Streamer now is not filly lighted. The light stops at the last "Sector" of the strip.
@@MineThemed if you are using the strimer plus V2, the controller where there is a port at the center, thanks for your 24pin PSU else for GPU is at the side where you have the swtich in bettern the two ports. Make sure you plug your GPU to the side and not the center port as the center port does not have enough ampere to provide your GPU strimer plus strips.

Hello Derrick Rath, welcome to my channel. I have yet to experience any burns or melt down but I do have viewers whom I’ve help do face that. Reason is, they are only using a splitter usb hub that does not powered by a sata source. As most of the power drawn is directly from the motherboard usb header and not from the internal usb hub. As for your second question, if you do plug the argb cable between the v2 controller to your motherboard argb header. Yes you get to control the argb effects using your motherboard argb utility app. Personally I will use more effects from the l-connect app, therefore I will not use the argb effects from the motherboard argb utility apps. You see the l-connect app provides more effects.

Need some help. I first bought a set of Lian Li Strimer Plus V2 for the 24 pin connector with the L3-Connect controller included. Everything worked flawlessly. I then went to get the 2 x 8 pin strimer plus for my GPU a month later. I plugged everything in correctly but my GPU was not able to boot and I had to press the connectors firmly together again in order to get a boot. It happened again for the second cold boot after I moved the cables a little as it was a little out of place and I had to open my case and do the same thing to get it to boot. As a result, it causes my hard drive to initial automatic repair upon a successful boot. Reminds me of my old rig when it often failed to boot after a bump and I had to press the connectors into the mobo and gpu hard to get a successful boot. Is it a problem with the Lian Li extension cables? The PC booted fine without the 2 x 8 pin extension plugged in.

@@KleoYan Thanks for your reply! Since my GPU only requires a single 8 pin connector, I shall try changing the order to see if it gets rid of the problem. I posted this question on a forum and one of them replied that it could be due to insufficient power drawn to my GPU through the strimer.
@@ivanyu3930 which graphic card are you using? it can't be insufficient, you see when you connect direct from PSU to your GPU. it works. Strimer plus v2 are just extension cables, whatever you've plug from the PSU to it. it will carry the current.
@@KleoYan Gigabyte AERO OC RTX 4060. Could be loose contact from the strimer. If I do not touch the strimer cable, it will boot without problems. If I touch it, I will need to push the connections in again firmly otherwise it will beep 3 times and not boot. Will probably RMA it at their office when I have the time. By the way, do you know where I can get more cable combs for the strimer? 2 combs seem insufficient for the 8 pin cable. The two parts are loose in the middle as I am connecting it vertically. Thanks for the reply!
@@ivanyu3930 when you RMA your Strimer Plus V2, you can ask if you can have somemore cable combs, as what I know they dont sell them separately. At the meantime, dont use the strimer plus V2. dont' seems safe to use.

@@nordenstadt43 ok, thanks for the email by the way. besides the strimer plus, do you have SL120 fans too? If you have, that means your Strimer Plus controller is not detected in your system. Try unplug the SL120 controller and to plug your strimer plus controller. see if that shows under the device manager. by the way if you have SL120 fans on radiator, temporary plug the fan load directly to your motherboard fan header. please do this while your system is not on when you do the changes and to double check on the connections before turning it back on.
Hey Kleo, I cant find an answer to this anywhere was hoping you might know. How to save custom profiles in l connect 3 for the v2 strimer? By using the export import option I am able to save the format of each of the 6 lanes. But if I had changed the positioning/colour/timing of an effect before exporting then it will reset to its default when I import it. For example the rainbow effect with each lane delayed one step behind the next to create an angled colour is what I am trying to achieve but importing the export resets all the positioned lanes, the brightness and direction remain.

I poked around so much in L-connect trying to get all my led's synced but right now I'm trying to find a fan control program that can use gpu temps for fan speeds which doesn't conflict with a-rgb software because the corsair icue crashes X670e boards. Argus Monitor is a good fan control for gpu temps but conflicts with Signal RGB which I have been using for my corsair fan RGB.

Hello Onairda, welcome to my channel, nope you do not need the v1 controller. All is needed is the v2 controller, connect the usb cable better the v2 controller to your motherboard usb header and make sure you plug the sata cable to your psu sata. Then at device manager, check under universal serial devices. See if it detects your v2. Controller. Then install the L-Connect 3 app.

I wish I had seen this video before doing my build today, I have a 2x8 and 1x6 pin on my Radeon Sapphire Nitro 6950XT OC, was pissed one of the cables didn't light. So would I have to get a second box so that they all light up? I guess that's why some of my cables aren't lighting up right now. Ordered the new controller and should be here tomorrow, I still do have another backup 8 pin cable that I ordered as a backup in case it's the cables. As all but the first two rgb strips light up on the first 8 pin connector.

@@KleoYan That would explain why it recognizes the fans are installed and not the strimmer since my fans are lian li also... but can't alter the rgb for any of them minus using the old controller on the strimmer.
hello Deadsec, welcome to my channel, these are the strimer plus original using the strimer plus v2 beta controller, which the V2 controller is now out. infact you can use both original Strimer plus and Strimer plus V2 with L-Connect 3 application, so long you are using the V2 controller. Hello Vee, welcome to my channel, you can plug directly to your motherboard argb and to use your motherboard to control or you can get the lian li argb cable kit that converts standard 3pin argb plug to a 3pin JST03 plug for you to plug to your uni controller and make sure your uni controller is V2 where it has 2 sata connectors. As strimer plus takes up alot of ampere current.

If you are, maybe you can try this. uninstall L-Connect 3 app using Revo Unistaller www.revouninstaller.com/ , remove all the residue files and registery. Next turn off your pc, just plug only the V2 controller and boot it up.. see does it crash on you? if it does not, install the L-Connect 3, reboot the system. If it goes well, plug your strimer plus v2 strips.

Hi Texas Elite, welcome to my channel, it will be advisable to plus your strimer plus v2 to its controller and to plug the usb cable from its controller to your motherboard usb header. This way you will have more argb effects. Btw it defeat the purpose of connecting your strimer plus controller to the uni controller as you lose the new argb effects designed specially for your strimer plus v2, using the L-Connect 3 application.

Hello Dennis Corsiga, welcome to my channel. I do not have any solution for you but you might want to try these steps to see if it helps.. instructions as follow :
Basic Troubleshooting steps
1) Make sure you motherboard bios is up to date, please check on your motherboard manufacture website, under support > bios and drivers. See if there are issues with USB and do they have a fix. If there is, kindly update those bios firmware version.
2) Make sure your chipset driver for your motherboard is up to date!. For AMD will be at www.amd.com/en/support for Intel will be Intel Driver & Support Assistant Intel DSA www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html
3) Remove all argb apps (Asus Armory Crate / MSI Dragon Center / Giga Fusion / Asrock Polychrome). If the brands which I have mentioned, do have a uninstall tool like the Asus Armory Crate, use that. Else use Revo uninstaller ( www.revouninstaller.com/ ) to uninstall the apps as mentioned. Revo uninstaller will remove all unwanted files / folder / registry in your system. 4) Shutdown your PC, unplug the PSU cable from your AC outlet. Press the power switch twice to discharge all current that your motherboard is holding. Leave it for 45 second
5) While waiting, please do not use KVM switches. Disconnect all devices that are connected to your motherboard (front / back IO). Leave only your Keyboard, Mouse , Monitor and Ethernet (If you have) connected directly to your motherboard. If your monitor has a KVM build in remove the USB cable from your monitor to your motherboard USB socket. If your mouse and keyboard is connected to your monitor, please remove them and plug them directly to your motherboard instead.
6) Plug only one Uni controller or Strimer Plus V2 controller. If its for Uni Fan (SL/AL) use only 3 fans to an output.
7) Plug the power cable and turn on your PC
8) Go to your Device Manager, look under Universal Serial Bus Devices, make sure you see the Lian Li uni / strimer plus V2 controller.
9) Install the L-Connect 3 app only lian-li.com/l-connect3/ (current version 1.2.6)
10) After installation, run the program, check under Setting > General > make sure Auto-Run on Boot and Minimized L-Connect 3 to system tray at close are ON.
11) Reboot your system.
12) First thing you need, go to device manager and see if the Lian Li controller is listed, next open up the L-Connect 3 app. Check if there is a need to update firmware to your controller. Go to Settings > Update, under Device F/W version, click on Update Check, download and install the firmware. Make sure the firmware is completed. Do a check on device manager and make sure the Lian Li controller is listed.
13) On L-Connect 3 dashboard, check if the CPU and GPU readings are reacting, you might want to test it using some benchmark programs. If there are reaction, play with the PWM and argb functions. If it does not work, skip step 14) and proceed step 16)
14) If Single controller works, shutdown your pc, connect uni fan set of 3 to your output of your uni controller. Do it small steps at a time to hook up your sets of fans. do not do all in one go. If successful and you have a second controller, proceed small step at a time again.
15) Slowly plug back your USB devices (Headset, Microphone, Printer, USB Capture Card and etc). At any point of time as you add those devices one at a time, if L-Connect 3 become unresponsive. This tells you that there power is insufficient to power up more USB Devices. Whatever USB port on your motherboard, there is a limitation as the current are shared across the board, be it front or back I/O and the internal USB Header. You might need to get a Internal USB Hub that comes with a Sata Power source to the Internal USB Hub. (Disclaimer, buying a internal usb hub might or might not resolve this issue, purchase at your own expenses)
16) If it does not work, report your issues to Lian li Tech Support. There is a in build log ticketing system in L-Connect 3 app. this is what you need to do. Go to Settings > Support > Click on “Download log” place a filename and choose a destination drive to save the log file. Next click on “Report” it will take you to Lian Li Tech Support FAQ. Fill up the form and upload the log which is a zip file.

The polling rate From L-Connect 3 is slow, they need to fast it up. I had a hard time to make a good fan Profile, but now it works fine. I hope they work on the polling rate.😄

Hi Hinotama Fyreheart, welcome to my channel. just a question. are you using the Strimer Plus V1 or V2, for V1, there is a controller where you do the argb colors on the physical controller. If you are using the Strimer Plus V2, it does come with the controller but you will need to use L-Connect 3 Application to set the colors.

@@KleoYan I Got it f ixed but that brings me into another problem. The GPU Streamer now is not filly lighted. The light stops at the last "Sector" of the strip.
@@MineThemed if you are using the strimer plus V2, the controller where there is a port at the center, thanks for your 24pin PSU else for GPU is at the side where you have the swtich in bettern the two ports. Make sure you plug your GPU to the side and not the center port as the center port does not have enough ampere to provide your GPU strimer plus strips.

I have ordered the nzxt internal usb2.0 hub in prep for my build... having looked at the reviews of previous models... have you had any issues with; the hub burning out/ burnout of internal usb2.0 header of motherboard/ or the motherboard burning out??? 😬😬

Hello Derrick Rath, welcome to my channel. I have yet to experience any burns or melt down but I do have viewers whom I’ve help do face that. Reason is, they are only using a splitter usb hub that does not powered by a sata source. As most of the power drawn is directly from the motherboard usb header and not from the internal usb hub. As for your second question, if you do plug the argb cable between the v2 controller to your motherboard argb header. Yes you get to control the argb effects using your motherboard argb utility app. Personally I will use more effects from the l-connect app, therefore I will not use the argb effects from the motherboard argb utility apps. You see the l-connect app provides more effects.

Need some help. I first bought a set of Lian Li Strimer Plus V2 for the 24 pin connector with the L3-Connect controller included. Everything worked flawlessly. I then went to get the 2 x 8 pin strimer plus for my GPU a month later. I plugged everything in correctly but my GPU was not able to boot and I had to press the connectors firmly together again in order to get a boot. It happened again for the second cold boot after I moved the cables a little as it was a little out of place and I had to open my case and do the same thing to get it to boot. As a result, it causes my hard drive to initial automatic repair upon a successful boot. Reminds me of my old rig when it often failed to boot after a bump and I had to press the connectors into the mobo and gpu hard to get a successful boot. Is it a problem with the Lian Li extension cables? The PC booted fine without the 2 x 8 pin extension plugged in.

@@KleoYan Thanks for your reply! Since my GPU only requires a single 8 pin connector, I shall try changing the order to see if it gets rid of the problem. I posted this question on a forum and one of them replied that it could be due to insufficient power drawn to my GPU through the strimer.
@@ivanyu3930 which graphic card are you using? it can't be insufficient, you see when you connect direct from PSU to your GPU. it works. Strimer plus v2 are just extension cables, whatever you've plug from the PSU to it. it will carry the current.
@@KleoYan Gigabyte AERO OC RTX 4060. Could be loose contact from the strimer. If I do not touch the strimer cable, it will boot without problems. If I touch it, I will need to push the connections in again firmly otherwise it will beep 3 times and not boot. Will probably RMA it at their office when I have the time. By the way, do you know where I can get more cable combs for the strimer? 2 combs seem insufficient for the 8 pin cable. The two parts are loose in the middle as I am connecting it vertically. @@ivanyu3930 when you RMA your Strimer Plus V2, you can ask if you can have somemore cable combs, as what I know they dont sell them separately. At the meantime, dont use the strimer plus V2. dont' seems safe to use.

@@nordenstadt43 ok, thanks for the email by the way. besides the strimer plus, do you have SL120 fans too? If you have, that means your Strimer Plus controller is not detected in your system. Try unplug the SL120 controller and to plug your strimer plus controller. see if that shows under the device manager. by the way if you have SL120 fans on radiator, temporary plug the fan load directly to your motherboard fan header. please do this while your system is not on when you do the changes and to double check on the connections before turning it back on.

Hey Kleo, I cant find an answer to this anywhere was hoping you might know. How to save custom profiles in l connect 3 for the v2 strimer? By using the export import option I am able to save the format of each of the 6 lanes. But if I had changed the positioning/colour/timing of an effect before exporting then it will reset to its default when I import it. For example the rainbow effect with each lane delayed one step behind the next to create an angled colour is what I am trying to achieve but importing the export resets all the positioned lanes, the brightness and direction remain.

I poked around so much in L-connect trying to get all my led's synced but right now I'm trying to find a fan control program that can use gpu temps for fan speeds which doesn't conflict with a-rgb software because the corsair icue crashes X670e boards. Argus Monitor is a good fan control for gpu temps but conflicts with Signal RGB which I have been using for my corsair fan RGB.

Hello Onairda, welcome to my channel, nope you do not need the v1 controller. All is needed is the v2 controller, connect the usb cable better the v2 controller to your motherboard usb header and make sure you plug the sata cable to your psu sata. Then at device manager, check under universal serial devices. See if it detects your v2. Controller. Then install the L-Connect 3 app.

I wish I had seen this video before doing my build today, I have a 2x8 and 1x6 pin on my Radeon Sapphire Nitro 6950XT OC, was pissed one of the cables didn't light. So would I have to get a second box so that they all light up? I guess that's why some of my cables aren't lighting up right now. Ordered the new controller and should be here tomorrow, I still do have another backup 8 pin cable that I ordered as a backup in case it's the cables. As all but the first two rgb strips light up on the first 8 pin connector.

@@KleoYan That would explain why it recognizes the fans are installed and not the strimmer since my fans are lian li also... but can't alter the rgb for any of them minus using the old controller on the strimmer.

hello Deadsec, welcome to my channel, these are the strimer plus original using the strimer plus v2 beta controller, which the V2 controller is now out. infact you can use both original Strimer plus and Strimer plus V2 with L-Connect 3 application, so long you are using the V2 controller.
