Vlogs for HRX day 3+4 are still coming, don't worry. Ended up being quite a huge project, meaning it'll take its sweet time to render. Therefore, I figured I might release this video beforehand so you have something to watch. Vlog should be up by tomorrow night.
DukeSloth thanks for always putting out helpful content. I have become a better player watching your vids and others like raynday. now instead of losing it on an inexperienced player I ask if they want any help with their characters and builds. typically I know I'm playing with new players because I end up with jungler role. and if I notice they are struggling I'll try to stick within ganking distance of their lane. also I'd love to see a regular god guide series from you because you explain the math and theory behind it which would help people learn to build their own not using cookie cutter builds. thanks agian.
DukeSloth I just subbed. My wife and I are moving from paragon to smite. So I'm just doing some research and your content deserves a sub. Lol I know I'm late to the game but still
Trelli Relli did you hear dark missed his flight and is missing lmao idk if sam and chloe found him yet but they think he got drunk and missed hsi flight
I smurfed once when I wanted to try to learn Conquest. I don't really know what I was expecting, but the ensuing clusterfuck of random gods in random places was hilarious. My best advice is to study a lot. Find resources (such as the ones that exist on Duke's channel) that teach how to do various things. It's not perfect, but you come into the gamemode with a rough understanding of where everything _should_ be, and can work from there with practice.
Another thing, watch videos like this so you go in having an idea. Or simply put in chat "Hey, i'm new to this mode, help me out please." There are a lot of people i've helped learn conquest because they straight up asked. But in the end, i've always believed that learning comes from experience and you should just go. Just start playing and figure out how stuff works. That's all I did my first time. Had no idea what was what. Later, I just kinda figured everything out by watching others, or I myself had a friend who has been playing since BETA. Anyways, just start playing and watch others play, learn from experience and most likely you'll be learning with others as well. However, it is still a good idea to let people know that you're new to the mode. They'll most likely forgive your mistakes and help you out. In the meantime, cheers Duke! Hope you're having fun in Atlanta!
Probably he will but in season 4, no reason on doing it now when season 3 is so close to end, on season 4 things will change so he'll probably wait till then
solo: warrior, guardian, assassin, mage, hunter all work good jungle: assassin, warrior, guardian, some mages all work good mid: mages, hunters work good adc: hunters, adc mages work good sup: guardians, warrior, some assasins work good tbh you've seen most classes for any role, most of them also having other viable options
By the way, my friend's got me into Smite and then they don't play that much so I started watching your channel and I love your videos I love how you present things I love that you have a very neutral and unbiased opinion most of the time and you helped me a ton in the game and I appreciate that, the only thing that bothers me about your videos as you never mention the importance of warding LOL 😄
I always wanted to play ranked conquest, it's a gamemode that i think it's pretty funny and cool if u play nice. I'm bad at ranked, and the people just flamed me. Now, you have done this video, and you inspired me for playing ranked. I know it's a video for begginers in *Conquest*, i know, but yeah. I'll play ranked at Season 4. And please, do a guide for every role, i think you would help much people. Thanks Duke :)
Hey duke can you please do a video on the efficiency of starting full boots in the jungle/support/adc roles? Or do you believe this meta's current shenanigans of lvl 1 invades will cease once season 4's changes are here.
The full boot starts were exclusively a result of those early lv1 invade strats. They provided the most efficient means of fighting teams at lv1 and invading buffs. _Hopefully_ that meta goes away with season 4 because it's cancer.
I have been playing Smite for a little over a year and only played conquest about 3 times. The main part I need help with is what lane you should go and what are the roles such as junggler adc I think it is and the others roles
Shy The Creator In general (there are exceptions) Hunters go Carry, Guardians Support, Mage mid, assasin jungle and warrior solo. If you look on the map where the red and blue towers are the furthest apart there go the support and the carry, they also start out together with the mid in that side jungle at the red buff. Solo and jungle team up on the opposite site for the yellow and blue buffs. and than they go to lane, as jungler you try to get the mid harpies and fire elementals for exp. As carry you wil mainly kill minions till you get high level and items to fight . The support is the protector of the carry and tries to get the carry kills and minions without falling behind himself, after awhile (lvl 9-10) the support leaves the carry to help out others. Mid lane mages tries to farm and poke also try to give as much info as possible by calling missing enemies. Solo is where you get warriors boxing eachother as they are both tanky and trying to deny the other farm. The jungler clears the buffs (try to do this together with teammates) for the others and ganks lanes that are under pressure (pushed under tower) or where enemies are low. After everyone is leveled up lets say lv 14 - 15 you all have to group up and fight together, but still focus oblectives such as towers and not only chase kills.
Duke, can you do a video on the different types of roles and what you do in each? lve Always wanted to play conquest (been lvl 30 a long time) but I don't understand which lane each role fights in.
Ik I'm not DukeSloth, but hopefully this helps as a quick answer pertaining to "which lane each role fights in": Solo fights on the shortest lane (the side with mana and speed buff), Mid fights in Mid lane, ADC & Support start in the longest lane, duo lane(the side with damage buff and boars), whilst Jungle roams about the jungle. Jungler and Solo start by going to Speed and mana (jungler takes speed, solo takes mana), and then they usually rotate to the solo lane. Jungle might stay for a wave, but then he leaves to farm jungle and mid whilst solo stays on solo lane. Meanwhile, Mid, Support, and ADC start by going to damage. Mid takes the damage buff and goes to lane. After helping with damage, Support and ADC take boars, then go to duo lane. Usually, once the opposing support leaves the lane, or once your ADC starts gaining massive pressure (after they reach level 5), then support rotates around the jungle helping everyone when he can. That covers the start of conquest for each role. After that, it's just fighting in your lanes, farming, and rotating when need be. However, rotating is a much larger topic that honestly just takes time and experience to learn, but hopefully this helps. Sorry for it being long.
This is a pretty good example of the roles (nice job Muzzballs). Just remember to call out the role you want in the lobby and remember that there are a lot of people who play conquest and many of them will get mad if the game isn't going their way. Trust me, that's one of the big reasons I don't play conquest as much, cuz people there can be aggressive and mean to new players and I'm just like "calm down, it's a game. give them a chance". Just ignore them and try your best. Choose a role you are comfortable with. Don't choose jungler if you don't like assassins. But that also bring me to one more thing, sometime you don't have to be an assassin to be a jungler. I've seen many ao kungs as junglers or izanamis. Just have fun!
Muzzballs Thanks so much this helps alot! One question though: so does the jungler and support always move from lane to lane or do they usually stay in the same lane unless they're needed somewhere else?
+Awesomesauce190 Jungle usually rotates with the mid laner for like the first 10min after the start that I mentioned earlier. Usually a jungler only stays on a lane if there are opponent's matching the lane in numbers. For example: Enemy's jungle, mid, and support are on mid, thus your jungle and mid (at least) are on mid (during wave). Another scenario would be if the main jungle camps (buffs and mid harpies) are all down. If all buffs and mid harpies are down, then there's nothing of strong importance to farm, so then they're just looking for either lane xp or gank potential. Support on the other hand usually stays with teammates. Once you notice that your ADC has a 1v1 chance in lane or your ADC starts winning lane, then rotate out. It's important that they dont split lane xp because they need to get big fast. So you really only want to go back to them if they're in need of help or see an easy gank. Support usually rotates with jungle or sits on a lane with teammates when the enemy is matching a lane in numbers.
I just really got the hang of ah puch's kit, and really wanna play him mid/solo (can you play him solo? I think so bc of corpse sustain but I'm just a bronzie so) I know gem of iso and cdr boots are a must on him but how do you start him in conq, how do you build him? like duke said, all the builds are outdated so I'm lost
Duke if your upcoming vlogs are gonna be as awkward as the last ones then imma watch them over and over. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who is way too awkward in front of the camera
I play on console and am not a beginner at all I feel I am very good at the game and conquest, but I hate playing only because I do not feel comfortable playing carry or support at all and almost every time I queue I get stuck doing that. I would like to play ranked but I really am best at jungle, solo, and mid and hate getting forced into carry or support. I wish there was a better way to communicate on console.
For new players, watching guides/gameplay on UA-cam, or streams, to get a sense what you should be doing in a specific role. LEARN every role and BE WILLINGLY to take a role if somebody already called your desired role. It's frustrating people only want one role and are stubborn to not switch. Smite is a team game, in Conquest you rely on 4 other people to win. Sure, maybe you aren't exactly comfortable with Jungle or Solo, but practice the role with a God and and as you're more confident, you can try a different God. DON'T be that person who locks a 2nd of a role that's been called, be a team player and let the other person who called it first have it. Fill in what's needed not already there.
fairly new to smite and just played a conquest where bellona and Merc were spamming vgs trying trying to lead and BMing eachother all at the same time, our team was an coordinated mess and i didnt know who to follow. I ended up being picked out a couple times trying to help both of them out in endgame which resulted in me going negative even though my laneing went pretty well (adc). After we lost they all started shit talking me for going 2-4. what do i do in these types os situations?
Just evaluate each situation. If you feel comfortable following them, then do so. If not, then just play it safe, decline, and keep on keeping on. Sometimes people make bad calls like, for instance: atk fire giant even though the entire enemy team is still alive and near. You either go with it, and if it fails just say it was a bad call and move on, or decline it and put forth a different idea. There's really nothing you can do once the games over besides either ignore the shit talking or look at the criticism and see if it's legitimate and helpful or not.
So I played Conquest first time yesterday 3 members left game in fiirst 5-6 mins bc opponent were playing better, now am hesitant should I play conquest once again or stick Arena lmao
Recommending Duel to new players is a baaaaaaaad idea. It doesn't help you much at all unless your goal is to be an ADC. It assists in introducing the concepts of gold and XP leads, buff control, essentially all the intricacies of laning, but not much else. Especially not for your specific role.
My problem is that I love smite and I play Arena and joust still, a lot, and then I tried Conquest the other day and everyone is so toxic and so angry that you don't know what you're doing that they'll back out or they'll just troll you the whole time and it makes it really hard to learn I obviously know the characters and the names of stuff but I don't know where the things are on the map yet and people get pissed. I'm level 60 from assault, joust, arena.
So it's like this. I mained Joust and then Clash, Conquest seems a bit too slow for me. But Clash and Joust just don't seem competitive in any sort of way anymore. I only played like 10 games of Conquest in my entire Smite career. I know the basics, I watch the pros all the time, but I don't know about the matchmaking. I see that often I'm matched with similar elo players (yes, on Smite Guru), so a 2700 elo experienced player in Conquest might be a bit too much for me to handle. Should I get started or no? :v
I am currently level 23 and I have only played conquest 4 times. Every time I get hated and I just can't do anything. I keep dying even though I can go 12-0 in arena. Any tips?
play more conquest, experience helps alot also it might help to tell your mates that you're new to conquest so they might not hate that much on you and actually helping you for specific situations hard to give you tips without knowing much about your games, which roles did you play? overall tip: use wards, they are very useful
Doom0fGods the laning opponents killed me a lot until I just was so many levels behind there was nothing to do. I couldn't get into team fights because I would die right away and then my respawn time was like a minute. My teammates kind off abandoned me as soon as I fell behind on levels.
Amy Xiao try to play safe and try to improve in 1v1 fights if you feel like you need help at some points tell your teammates so they hopefully help you if possible so you won't fall behind
As Conquest Smite Beta Player I Don't Like That At Some Point There Will Appear Teleport From Base To Fire Giant, Season 4 Look's Really Bad For Conquest. Glad I Recently Switch To Joust.
He was support, erlan support is a thing, but not for newer players. It's actually kinda complex to make him work on the support role if you dont have enough experience with the god and with the role, so i dont recommend it
He was Support, although it's better for them to pick up team fight relics (Med, Shell, Sprint) but it's also a start where you use Wrath to steal the enemy red buff, which gives your mid pressure, being able to clear faster, get to fire creeps and take mid harpies. If you go Jungler you don't build full tank, because you won't be able to kill the back line, which is what the Jungler targets in team fights.
The Devil i have 650 hours in smite and i think ive played conquest like 5 to 10 times at best..... Conquests environment is just too intimidating. BMing left and right and getting demolished by the experienced players
Hey man, first of all thanks for doing this video, for the new players. But i feel that you did forgett something important. You speak a lot about muting BM and stuff, but what is with "dont be to stubborn to accept help and tipps from others" ? This is what happens a lot of me, i see someone underperforming , look at their builds and just give advice (ofc without BM). I think newbies should listen to advice and not be " FU i do what i want " , ofc only if the advice can be explained. What do you think about that ?
I really want to start playing Conquest but am just really scared of underperforming. No matter how many guides I read and walkthrough I watch, I can never understand Conquest and think playing it is the best way to learn it but again, scared to play it. Also, can someone judge my choices for lanes, and tell me if they are good or not? Support: Terra (don't really play Support) Jungle: Susanoo. Solo: Amaterasu, Bellona, Hades. Carry: Izanami, Apollo, Neith, Cupid, Sol. Mid: Thoth, Sol, Anubis.
Just to let you know, you will under perform sometime in Conquest, hell I'm close to achieving level 30 at the time of writing this and I'm still underleveled and underperforming against specific roles. You'll just have a match that you're not feeling too good about. Just take it as it goes and you'll be fine. You may find that an enemy has a fuck tonne of kills and is level 20 while your 6-10 levels below. That's just how it is. Truth be told, they'll be people in the same boat as you, fearing the same thing. If that makes you feel any better.
raniely candelario Unfortunately, you are going to get flamed st some point. Maybe you go to the wrong place at the start of the match, maybe you misplay a team fight, or get killed early. People are toxic, and will probably bm. The solution? Mute them. Seriously, just ignore them and do the best possible At the same time, don't ignore good advice from someone more experienced than you. If someone explains that you're doing something wrong, try listening to them
this is the noobish you will ever get, what kind of god goes down what lane in conquest? i know junglers are assassins but what about the other lanes? and what are the lane names i could use top bottom and mid lane but top and bottom sound weird considering the map desigh
On console, the amount of people who auto lock gods and dont call roles and go to random lane is insane. My elo 3k+ there needs to tutorial for conquest for them or something. Im tired of teir 2 boots and med jungle every other game. Idk if pc better i assume so.
i learned to play conquest by playing the game. i was lucky enough to play with non cancerous teammate who would help me. lol i remember my first game; amc solo
Ero Rsel, he's most likely playing jungle. Ares support, Izanami ADC, Scylla mid, Chaac Solo, and him as Jungle. I mean, him n Chaac could switch, but he's most likely jungle. Ares doesnt fit into any other role though, so support is quite unlikely.
so... how is bastet support? if you ever had that situation :D (bastet sup is something i really wanna try, i don't expect much, but i enjoy having fun playing weird picks)
angelfan16 Conquest is the most popular ranked gamemode. If u have played League of legends that map I close to lol's Summoner Rift. It's 5V5 gamemode with 3 lanes and a huge jungle
Vlogs for HRX day 3+4 are still coming, don't worry. Ended up being quite a huge project, meaning it'll take its sweet time to render. Therefore, I figured I might release this video beforehand so you have something to watch. Vlog should be up by tomorrow night.
DukeSloth thank you dukesloth this video helped me. a lot A LOT I really appreciate your videos
um shouldn't you have done this for season 4? its almost here lol
TheCasualCommenter it's gonna be the same

DukeSloth Smite Fire Works for Builds Dukeboy atleast its a bit helpful for those new Players www.smitefire.com
The moment when you play smite for years and still watch this video cuz its a DukeSloth video :)
DizzyFox so true
DukeSloth what is your response to Spain wanting to ban memes
DukeSloth I just subbed. My wife and I are moving from paragon to smite. So I'm just doing some research and your content deserves a sub. Lol I know I'm late to the game but still
Adapting was once a begginer in conquest, too.
Nah, he was born pro
You mean like Saitama? :O
+mec sympa Lol!
how are you still pumping out videos in ATL good lord man you're a beast
Trelli Relli did you hear dark missed his flight and is missing lmao idk if sam and chloe found him yet but they think he got drunk and missed hsi flight
Haha thanks man, I was prepared, finished that up right before the flight! :D

Probably he will but in season 4, no reason on doing it now when season 3 is so close to end, on season 4 things will change so he'll probably wait till then
DaniloSmite It's odd though. S4 is going to introduce the ability to play gods in multiple different roles.
tbh we always had the possibility to play gods in different roles
Doom0fGods Well, we have.
But it was very viable and in high elos, you'd be beaten easily for trying.
solo: warrior, guardian, assassin, mage, hunter all work good
jungle: assassin, warrior, guardian, some mages all work good
mid: mages, hunters work good
adc: hunters, adc mages work good
sup: guardians, warrior, some assasins work good
tbh you've seen most classes for any role, most of them also having other viable options

Skai258 - Thanks. It helped me get a really good understanding.
Shy The Creator np :)
Dukesloth was once a beginner at conquest, too.
Thanks for this video, perfect for me at the moment!
@dukesloth, How do you feel about people trying to change the meta in ranked? (support/jung/solo start at speed camp and transition to xp then camps?)
Will you do a Morrigan video today?
Duke, can you do a video on the different types of roles and what you do in each? lve Always wanted to play conquest (been lvl 30 a long time) but I don't understand which lane each role fights in.

Josue Martinez
alright thanks for the heads up! :D
+Awesomesauce190 Jungle usually rotates with the mid laner for like the first 10min after the start that I mentioned earlier. What god are you using in this video and what is your recommended build? He looks interesting
Duke if your upcoming vlogs are gonna be as awkward as the last ones then imma watch them over and over. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who is way too awkward in front of the camera
My problem is sometimes I can't mute people because the game simply doesn't let me on console any way to fix this?

Recommending Duel to new players is a baaaaaaaad idea. It doesn't help you much at all unless your goal is to be an ADC. It assists in introducing the concepts of gold and XP leads, buff control, essentially all the intricacies of laning, but not much else. Especially not for your specific role.
Adapting was once a beginner in Conquest, too.
What beginners should know is, conquest isn't the only mode if you don't enjoy it there is always joust, clash, siege or even arena
you should give it a try, you can always stop playing conquest if it doesn't work out :)
I have been playing smite for a year now but I constantly avoid conquest since I always get underleveled.
I am currently level 23 and I have only played conquest 4 times. Every time I get hated and I just can't do anything. I keep dying even though I can go 12-0 in arena. Any tips?
play more conquest, experience helps alot
also it might help to tell your mates that you're new to conquest so they might not hate that much on you and actually helping you for specific situations
hard to give you tips without knowing much about your games, which roles did you play?
overall tip: use wards, they are very useful
Doom0fGods I played ADC as neith and Freya
dying to ganks or laning opponent?
Doom0fGods the laning opponents killed me a lot until I just was so many levels behind there was nothing to do. I couldn't get into team fights because I would die right away and then my respawn time was like a minute. My teammates kind off abandoned me as soon as I fell behind on levels.
Amy Xiao try to play safe and try to improve in 1v1 fights
if you feel like you need help at some points tell your teammates so they hopefully help you if possible so you won't fall behind
As Conquest Smite Beta Player I Don't Like That At Some Point There Will Appear Teleport From Base To Fire Giant, Season 4 Look's Really Bad For Conquest. Glad I Recently Switch To Joust.
starting playing conquest when you main gaurds is fun :D
At 7:20 it looks like Ratatoskr is a ghost since he is up in the tree with the shield on the ground XD
what role did you go as in this game
He was support, erlan support is a thing, but not for newer players. It's actually kinda complex to make him work on the support role if you dont have enough experience with the god and with the role, so i dont recommend it
OK, I just couldn't tell since it was late game and after watch Worlds, this could've been support or solo, or even jungle for all i know
He was certainly jungle. He was always taking speed buff, he had wrath as his first relic, and Ares was likely support. Plus Duke is a jungle main.
yeah he was jungling, they had an ares support and chaac solo
He was Support, although it's better for them to pick up team fight relics (Med, Shell, Sprint) but it's also a start where you use Wrath to steal the enemy red buff, which gives your mid pressure, being able to clear faster, get to fire creeps and take mid harpies. If you go Jungler you don't build full tank, because you won't be able to kill the back line, which is what the Jungler targets in team fights.

I'm 550 hours into Smite and still haven't gotten into Conquest, I feel like I'm late to the party... Do you have any idea as to when you got into it?
LavandulaWine I call BULSHIT
What do you think about that ?
great video duke!^^ (newbie)
Thanks needed this lol I'm too scared to play conquest and get flamed bc idk what I'm doing
raniely candelario Unfortunately, you are going to get flamed st some point. Maybe you go to the wrong place at the start of the match, maybe you misplay a team fight, or get killed early. People are toxic, and will probably bm. The solution? Mute them. Seriously, just ignore them and do the best possible
At the same time, don't ignore good advice from someone more experienced than you. If someone explains that you're doing something wrong, try listening to them
hey DukeSloth 🙂
there it is
Thank
Erlang support?
Why not? It probably threw off the enemy team who was expecting ares support.
Yup. Bottom line : Have fun. It's just a game, don't take it too seriously.
what you mean stuck to support support is the best
Can someone explain me the Talaria Boots first Item meta? :D
SkrewZ The gold advantage you can get, which works with the invading meta, makes them useful
Mute Button is live! - Mute Button is love!
Nah you go 5 man mid because you get shared farm for efficiency and you can push down titan really quickly cuz insane mid pressure.
your connection must be slow because these come out at 2 in the morning. nice work tho
this is the noobish you will ever get,
what kind of god goes down what lane in conquest?
i know junglers are assassins but what about the other lanes? and what are the lane names i could use top bottom and mid lane but top and bottom sound weird considering the map desigh
On console, the amount of people who auto lock gods and dont call roles and go to random lane is insane. My elo 3k+ there needs to tutorial for conquest for them or something. Im tired of teir 2 boots and med jungle every other game. Idk if pc better i assume so.
Yesterday i played ranked with guy who played conquest for first time , and please guys dont jump in ranked if u never played normal conquest before..
I always creating my builds from popular items.
Yeah hes right I used to like to play chacc midlane lol that's when I got the hard carry trophy 🤣🤣🤣
thankss
I still think locking ranked until level 30 is the dumbest thing in the game
i learned to play conquest by playing the game. i was lucky enough to play with non cancerous teammate who would help me. lol i remember my first game; amc solo
Panda'sBass my first conq was a ra adc Kappa
Panda'sBass Loki support was my first game, I think we all know how that ended lmao never again.
you have no damage in this gameplay is that on purpose?😄
Nick Mcconnell Yes, as Support, you usually don't build any damage items.
I agree. They still have an ares though, and ares can only play support. He's either jungle or solo.
Lvl 60 and just starting conquest because of the salt.
weak3n didnt start with thor for sure
You can play anything in bronze and silver. I just spam Arachne Bastet nieth and awilix in any role and play. Just relax have fun and play.
so... how is bastet support? if you ever had that situation :D (bastet sup is something i really wanna try, i don't expect much, but i enjoy having fun playing weird picks)
I have auto build enabled and just harass in lane. I kill their squishy immobile tanks and then late game I run up to towers or phoenixs and ult.
yooo
What the heck is this build
selfish supp for guardians XD
lol thats me no roles
+
what's conquest? console gamer thanks
angelfan16 Conquest is the most popular ranked gamemode. If u have played League of legends that map I close to lol's Summoner Rift. It's 5V5 gamemode with 3 lanes and a huge jungle
Божидар Евтимов What game are we talking about?
***** What's a facepalm?
angelfan16 We are in Smite guide.. obviously we are talkin about SMITE
welcoming the noobs nice. like we haven't got enough of them already
