Only use if at least two targets. - Use FoK in 2 or more targets as your primary builder, pressing mutilate to maintain caustic (I say 3 or more targets in the video, but I recently ran a sim and it seems fok is the move even in 2 target) - Use FoK in ST when you have a clear the witness proc (deathstalker hero talent) - If you tab off your kingsbane target for any reason (i.e. spreading bleeds), ensure caustic spatter will last the duration of your kingsbane and DO NOT mutilate another mob while kb is active. Otherwise you lose A LOT of caustic damage. - Off hand weapon dps is like 3 times worse than your worst stat. Only Main hand weapon damage is important.
Explain how Deathmark works and what it really does, reading it makes me thing I want to press it before applying bleeds / poisons... but we don't do that in the rotation. It's a bit confusing.
The main benefit of deathmark is that it duplicates your existing bleeds. So if you deathmark before you have any bleeds up, you lose out on that benefit. There's no snapshotting or anything, so you want to have your bleeds already up

A trick for keeping track of your prio target in a huge pull is to set that target set as your focus. This becomes complicated if kicks are involved and you need to focus another mob to kick, HOWEVER some packs will have big mobs that you need to prio down that cast, and be sure to be vocal if your group is assigning kicks to want to be kicking the big mob that's going to have your mark on it. That way everything you need to worry about is on 1 mob, and if you ever lose it because of swapping you can use a target focus macro and instantly target it again in the chaos.
This is a fucking goldmine of usefull information mate. I would love to see a raid guide from you as well. But less focus on stats or rotation but more like who to minmax uptime, how you pl.ay certain encounters and why. stuff like this would be extremely valuable
I picked up Assassination rogue as a challenge to myself. I've never liked it and always seem to be at the bottom of the DPS charts when trying it out. I'm going to give it a serious try, hoping this helps!
Nice thank you. I main assa and have been struggling to decide on a set m+ build since the 20th patch. I like how you broke down the choice talents and their application. Only thing I would add is the value of singular focus for prio dam in an aoe pack. Lastly, I did find a use for Fatebound. The gauntlet fight (angerforge I think his name is) in the BRD Heroic raid doesn’t allow you to restealth and often I’d have darkest night fall off due to run times between packs. So fatebound was nice to not have DM to play around.
As an assassin main, after gearing a tank i rarely see other rogues take near enough advantage of iron wire. 5 seconds of silence, 5 seconds of 15% reduced damage. On caster heavy pulls toss out the the extra garrote regardless of if its already spread to hit the extra silence. 15% reduced damage right at the start of the pull is a nice little buffer for the tank too. but the big one, vanish to resilence after stops are blown. You can definitely loose dps, but to be able to spread that silence and give your groups interupts a sec come off cd is huge compared to just using it as another cooldown.
idk I think its kinda fun trying to cook and figure out the optimal way to do dam. but if that's not your style no harm in doing your own thing and playing the game the way u want

I appreciate that! I don't think I'll do another series like that since my goals this time around are somewhat different, but I have got some more m+ content in the works
great guide. So you only press ambush once? So you only apply your mark after using the 2 Ruptures? Doesnt that waste 2 Mark procs? Or did i get something wrong
not sure i fully understand the question, but you press ambush to apply your mark as your first global in a dungeon. but ambush is not a great global so ideally you utilize darkest night between pulls to reapply mark instead of using ambush again once your mark is out, go about applying bleeds. rupture and crimson tempest count as finishers so they will consume mark charges. in the video in one example i applied my mark late with a vanish. that was just because i forgot to apply it initially. which is also sometimes happens in keys!
Actually very good guide, had to switch from outlaw because I was not doing enough damage for my 13 and up team and to get away from bugs. I wonder if there is a way to make a WA "if target has mark then make focus" kind of thing
outlaw suffers from target cap but outside of that is actually a very strong spec. you're overall might be low in some dungeons but you bring great prio and ST dam that would be a cool WA but ya I don't know of any that do that
Only question I have, how do you play around chain pulling, I've heard people say it's not necessary for the tank to not chain pull cause rogues can play with chain pulling aswell but I cant seem to find a guide which explains how
The big thing with chain pulling is that you need to spend more globals applying your bleeds because you dont have indiscriminate carnage active. Assuming you don't have vanish/meld this means building with fan and applying ruptures to the new mobs in the pull, ideally getting to 5 but its situation dependent. In a lower key if the mobs aren't going to live very long rupturing 5 times is slow so maybe you only do 3 before picking a prio target and slamming envenom/cds. So not getting a restealth sucks for this reason - but as you mention that doesn't imply its never correct to chain pull. Waiting to kill every mob in a pull for your restealth might be better for your damage meter but worse for the timer.
great guide ty! I am still confused about combo points and overcapping. eg. when im missing 1 combo point to full the bar, do I press a generator and potentially lose combo points/overcap or do I send it with one cp less?
So right at the beginning when you're applying your bleeds, are you tab targetting to each dummy to spread them, or are you staying on one target and they're spreading through some other method?
In this vid I don't tab off my primary target since there are only 5 target dummies. My first rupture for example is applied to my target + 2 others, then my second rupture hits my current target again + the two remaining dummies without bleeds. So tldr you don't need to tab target in 5 or less targets because indiscriminate carnage will spread them for you
So intuitively that makes sense and that's what I used to think, but that's not the case. kingsbane will hit harder on your shiv'd target, but that additional damage doesn't get translated through caustic. unfortunately I can't explain why because idk how it works, but there's several conversations in the rogue discord about it and the consensus is no, shiv doesn't affect caustic splatter.
Does Indiscriminate Carnage specifically apply the 2nd and 3rd dot onto enemies that are not yet affected, or can you get unlucky and need to use it more than twice to have the dot on 5 targets?
it will always prioritize enemies that don't already have bleeds, as long as they're within your melee range. so ya you should never need to use garrote/rupture more than twice in your opener to apply bleeds to every target, if done within your indiscriminate carnage window
Hey nice guide. im fine with AOE in M+ tho im fairly new to rogue in TWW but i HARD struggle with this talent tree at bosses. whats the best rotation for ST with this build ?
assa rogue's ST is probably it's weakness - so part of that is unavoidable. Your CD window is pretty much the same as in aoe, except you press mutilate as a builder instead of FoK. outside of cds its also the same idea - you just aren't able to use as many globals because you won't have the energy for it.
no need, as long as you're within melee range of all the mobs, indiscriminate carnage will apply bleeds to targets that don't yet have them. so you can garrote/rupture off the same mob to spread your bleeds
so if its 5 mobs or less and you rupture your primary target. it looked like you ruptured the same target. Will it prioritize enemies with no rupture? when coming from stealth
nevermind. you bring it up. this is super helpful. i was just ignorign packs with 4 mobs and just hitting 3 for the sake of wasting time. this is great thanks
if im high energy i usually spam until im below 150 and then start clipping - if you try clipping at high energy and you suddenly get a bunch of blindside procs you risk overcapping energy
I notice you rupture the prio target twice during opener to spread them on all targets. Does the second rupture refresh the one on prio or does the second rupture automatically look for targets that don’t have the rupture bleed on them?
The second rupture applies to my current target (refreshing its duration) + the two other training dummies that don't yet have a rupture. That's why there's no need to target swap in a pull of 5 or less mobs, indiscriminate carnage will always prio applying bleeds to mobs that don't yet have them
You want to keep your bleeds up - if they're about to fall off while your pooling its worth spending the energy to reapply them. The big thing when pooling is not pressing envenom until your energy gets back to a good spot
uhh I have a bunch of macros I use for different things, and I don't know of an easy way to share all of them. Are there specific things you're wondering about?
@@kafuuwu4850 my kb macro legit does nothing (it just uses kingsbane) and my deathmark macro does the following: #showtooltip Deathmark /use Deathmark /use Tempered Potion /use Dreambound Augment Rune /use 14 where 14 is my trinket. I've also don't always use the pot part of the macro since there are often points in the dungeon where I want to hold pot for smth
Shadowmeld is definitely a nice tool to solve dungeon mechanics/save vanish. You can also get a restealth with it if used correctly which id helpful for chain pulls and reapplying your bleeds. But I haven't personally played with it so I'm not sure much more or less valuable it is compared to dwarf
I don't get how shiv increases poison damage, which increases kingsbane damage, which should increase the caustic splatter damage while active, yet you say it doesn't work. did blizzard do this on purpose or? Explain the reasoning why envenom amping poison damage doesn't scale to aoe with shiv off the main target.
I don't understand why either. For this specific point I'm regurgitating what I read off the rogue discord, written by people that understand the spec better than I do.
IT 100% WORKS. Shiv increases nature damage by 30% for 8 seconds. You want to use this at last 8 seconds of kingsbane with a thistle at 6 seconds for max damage output.
Bone spike comes out on average to about 2% of your total dps in a dungeon and is almost never worth it. Smoothing out your opening rotation is the only benefit.
for sure, it doesn't do much for your overall and aoe. but that % is larger in ST, which is the main benefit of the talent. Of the "optional" rogue talents I discuss, bonespike provides the largest benefit in ST
Most of the time yes I'll target swap to maximize the number of bleeds I'm putting out w/ garrote and rupture. The only situations I might not do it are in MASS aoe pulls when my cds are up and I don't think I'll be able to efficiently navigate back to my prio target for my go window. Also, the larger the pull, the more my damage profile leans into CT and caustic as my main source of damage, since those two abilities affect every mob in a pull unlike my garrotes/ruptures. So it becomes more punishing losing track of my prio target, and less punishing losing out on an additional garrote/rupture.
it's good to keep track of at least one of your bleed buffs from stealth - in the UI I use you can see the red bar that ticks down is tracking my indiscriminate carnage buff. In 11.0.5 all your out of stealth buffs share the same duration so you only really need to track one of them. It's also a good idea to keep track of your darkest night buff between pulls (hero talent) otherwise most of your attention is spent tracking debuffs that you apply to mobs. bleeds, caustic, deathstalker's mark, etc.
I'd also add clear the witness procs to the list of buffs to track - its your hero talent that buffs FoK, as you always want to press it when you have a proc
Additional things to note I did not include in the video:
- Do not crimston tempest in ST. Only use if at least two targets.
- Use FoK in 2 or more targets as your primary builder, pressing mutilate to maintain caustic (I say 3 or more targets in the video, but I recently ran a sim and it seems fok is the move even in 2 target)
- Use FoK in ST when you have a clear the witness proc (deathstalker hero talent)
- If you tab off your kingsbane target for any reason (i.e. spreading bleeds), ensure caustic spatter will last the duration of your kingsbane and DO NOT mutilate another mob while kb is active. Otherwise you lose A LOT of caustic damage.
- Off hand weapon dps is like 3 times worse than your worst stat. Only Main hand weapon damage is important.

where 14 is my trinket. I've also don't always use the pot part of the macro since there are often points in the dungeon where I want to hold pot for smth
What about shadowmeld? Is it really usefull or i should roll Dwarf? Thank you.
W guide

Never heard it called that ever. Also its call ass ass rogue.
hi mate what's your plater profil pls share and weakauras pls thx for guides
You can find most of my UI and WA elements in my discord! Link in the description
whats the weakaura for this?
which WA?
@ The one you have near the middle of the screen that’s showing ur uptime on caustic and bleeds and stuff or did you make it yourself?
I think your referring to the rogue hud - you can find a link to it in the UI section of my discord
You want to use this at last 8 seconds of kingsbane with a thistle at 6 seconds for max damage output.
hello, may i ask you about your nameplates addon or if it is possible can you share your profile?
I use jundies, you can find a link to it in my discord!
Bone spike comes out on average to about 2% of your total dps in a dungeon and is almost never worth it. Smoothing out your opening rotation is the only benefit.
for sure, it doesn't do much for your overall and aoe. but that % is larger in ST, which is the main benefit of the talent. Of the "optional" rogue talents I discuss, bonespike provides the largest benefit in ST
what WA is that?
which one?
@@shindigg672 the main rouge WA you have with energy and Cool-downs. its similar to my shaman one i like it more then the default LUX one
@Cyreal55 it's a variant of afenar's rogue pack - you can find a link to it in the ui channel of my discord!
this is so nice! Are you not swapping targets on AoE at all for the dots?
Most of the time yes I'll target swap to maximize the number of bleeds I'm putting out w/ garrote and rupture.
The only situations I might not do it are in MASS aoe pulls when my cds are up and I don't think I'll be able to efficiently navigate back to my prio target for my go window. Also, the larger the pull, the more my damage profile leans into CT and caustic as my main source of damage, since those two abilities affect every mob in a pull unlike my garrotes/ruptures. So it becomes more punishing losing track of my prio target, and less punishing losing out on an additional garrote/rupture.
dont you play outlaw your guide make me so level up if you have a chance to play outlaw i want to learn to you
I don't play outlaw at a high level atm so I don't think I'll be making a guide on it, though I appreciate the kind words!
Damn assy went from a brainless spec to blood dk level complicated lol
First Babbbbyyy
Thanks for the guide! Appreciate the effort!
What buffs we will have to keep an eye/track as assassination rogue
it's good to keep track of at least one of your bleed buffs from stealth - in the UI I use you can see the red bar that ticks down is tracking my indiscriminate carnage buff. In 11.0.5 all your out of stealth buffs share the same duration so you only really need to track one of them. It's also a good idea to keep track of your darkest night buff between pulls (hero talent)
otherwise most of your attention is spent tracking debuffs that you apply to mobs. bleeds, caustic, deathstalker's mark, etc.
I'd also add clear the witness procs to the list of buffs to track - its your hero talent that buffs FoK, as you always want to press it when you have a proc
