Listen to the sweet purr of that engine! I have two of these cars and they are AWESOME! I absolutely adore them. Drove one of them across the U.S. from Los Angeles to Virginia beach in 2003 and it was the most comfortable, enjoyable, trouble free ride. As long as I'm alive, I will always have a W126 300SE in my garage. The W123 & W126 share the title of Best Sedan Ever Built. And I don't see -- with the way these car companies build plastic shit-boxes nowadays -- them ever losing that title.
Nice Video, the 300SE is the most Economical W126 that was made. Someone knows how to drive. :) But I still like the way the cars drive too. As specially with the hydraulic shocks on the rear. They handle beautifully for a large vehicle.
Much respect to you. I gave mine a fairly big boot around today on some British 'A" roads, for the first time, and I certainly understand what you mean about soft suspension.
The mighty M103 sings it's magic symphony. Best sounding inline 6 ever. Best engine amongst the 126s gas versions. A 126 is something beyond just driving.
i think you should select gears manually to prevent the gearbox from shifting unnecessarily much. like when you let go of the throttle it upshifts then you push it down again and it kicks down, you could've just hold it in that gear and it wouldnt have changed at all. just saying cus when you push the throttle so it revs out longer on the gear and then let go of the throttle before it upshifts it throws the gear in with a massive slam. not the best treatment, still nice driving.

My 1989 Mercedes Benz 300SE can reach a top speed of 220-230 kph (even though it weighs just shy of 1.8 tons) and drives better than most new cars I've driven and it will be thirty years old next year (I maintain it myself very well). In thirty years most new cars will be salvaged into toaster ovens (and poor quality ones at that) and sheet metal roofing. My parents just recently bought a brand new Shitrolet Colorado Z71 (2.8 Isuzu diesel) and the f***ing door handle fell off after one month....американское дерьмо
