2022 Mercedes E53 AMG In-depth Review and Drive

Starting at $75,000 the 2022 Mercedes AMG E 53 features a 3.0 L turbocharged inline six coupled with a mild hybrid drive system. It has 429 Hp and 384 Lbs of torque mated to a 9 speed automatic with all wheel drive, making it good for 0-60 in just 4.4 seconds. It has adaptive self leveling AMG tuned adaptive Air Body Control making for greatly reduced body roll in corners. The epa rates it at 21 Mpg in the city and 29 on the highway and it has 13.1 cubic feet of cargo space.

My 2022 E53 crackles and pops every time single , even driving automatic. Just have to hit high rpm’s and let off gas just before it would shift to 3rd, 4th or 5th gear. Great review though.

This is essentially the old C43 AMG with a mild hybrid with the bullet proof M276 engine, which is arguably one of the longest serving engine Mercedes has---naturally aspirated version of the M276 has been in service since around 2009/2010. E classes are bigger and heavier than the C-class and as such they will not handle like a C-class.

I drive a 2021 E53 coupe with the windows open and it has plenty of pops and crackles downshifting in Sport Plus. Almost as loud as my previous 2019 C43. MB performance exhaust is flawless for this class.

Is it worth it? I’m leaning towards an E450 or E53. Also do you find yourself filling up for gas often?

@@raheemjessop Hi there, no, I don’t. This car is actually very forgiven in gas for being a little porky compared to my C43, and yet, it has a lot of power, so it’s solid and fast. I don’t know much about cars but before my C43 I had a 2016 Camaro 2SS. I thought I would never like a turbo of any kind, but this electrified Straight 6 leaves nothing to be desired. I love the way AMG tune these cars. The handling is superb too. I actually feel safer in my “ocasional” spirited driving than I did in my Camaro. This car is elegant and fast. The interior is pretty amazing too. You should test drive it and see for yourself.
9000 miles later… no regrets.

I have a 2022 e53. 20” tires are sexy, but with only 1 1/2” of tire btwn you and the road, be prepared to spend a lot of time at Mercedes’ service and getting to personally know the Mercedes’ roadside tow guy. Strongly suggest getting tire and rim insurance.

I for one am quite thankful that MB/AMG decided to not play that funky music (burbbles/pops/crackles) via the compression cycle. Please, no posing here! Also, It's a straight 6 cylinder. What would you expect from a 6 cy;;inder anyway?

BMW M5 has better performance but Mercedes AMG has nicer interior.

the M5, now the M5 competition compares with the E63s. M550i is more comparing with E53 but yes M550i has more performance. But I must say the MB interior is top notch. I have a x3m and interior is meh but the car is lovely to drive.

good review but very poor video layout. towards the beginning you have the bright Sky signing in our face, obscuring the dashboard, and through much of the rest of the video there's a haze over the picture. learn this lesson for your future videos.
