Jarrod it is fantastic to see you work again this biwl is awesome and the grain in the wood is stunning. God bless you and your family a thousand fold.
Bill K Thank you. I have more coming, but it's so extremely hot in my shop right now, I haven't been in it to much. Thanks for watching and there is more to come.
Beautiful bowl. I was at my wood turning club's monthly meeting yesterday and one of the members entered a bowl similar to yours into the competition. He added a lid to his made of a contrasting wood , all topped by an ebony finial. I was sure he would have taken top prize but the guest demonstrator who judged the pieces felt differently. I'm really keen to try one now so thanks for the video.
Very cool project. I see this vid is years old, but it’s new to me. I too live in Vegas ... I’m looking forward to more of your work. As I’m new to turning I need all the help I can get. 🤙🏽
Really nice bowl! You said this a pretty easy build; I think easy is a relative term! To me, (a beginning woodturner) this is hard. For one thing, I don't have a chuck. So, I could probably figure something out, but I know it would be easier with a chuck. So, keep turning these "easy" builds, I'll catch up to you sometime. Thanks guy. Good stuff!
E.D Bogan That is a valid point and you definitely will catch up with me. Start by spending the money on a chuck. Trust me, it will make life easier and increase the amount of projects you can create. Not to mention, make turning more enjoyable. Keep at it and one day you'll think back and say, "that is a pretty easy build". Good luck.
True, I guess it is small for that. I wasn't even sure why I thought of a dog bowl when I posted that. But I went over a friends house this morning and he has a plastic dog bowl shaped like that. So that's where the thought came from. Yours is a lot nicer looking tho. :)
W L Really any gas chainsaw. I have used an electric one in the past and trying to split the log with the grain, the motor burnt out. It's just to much for an electric. I've used a Stihl gas chainsaw with great success. Just find one that fits nicely in your hands and you think you'd be comfortable using.
That is a beautiful piece of wood! Even before you put the finish on the grain and color is great. The legs were a unique design, too. Where did you get that wood if you don't mind me asking?
Rustic Moon Thank you. I actually got the wood from a place in Vegas called wood workers emporium. They get the wood from centurytreeturnings.com. I've never bought from them direct, but I wrote the guy and he responded immediately and was extremely nice. Hope that helps.
Nice bowl. Maybe you could find somewhere else to mount the camera when you are using that table. It was shaking quite a bit as you were putting on the finish.
wood turners journal, is that the wood turning magazine that went closed because the publisher went bankrupt ? I bough a subscription to that turning magazine and only got 1 or 2 issues. it was an expensive mag to.Lawrence Brandon
Lawrence Brandon Lol!!! No. Sorry. I have no affiliation to the magazine. I thought it was a good name for a digital journal of my work and progress. The only magazine for woodturners I know now is out of England.
pointer2null Lol!!! Yeah, I like to listen to music while turning. I could put other music over the time lapse parts, but I feel it takes away a little from the video. I'll have to watch the volume of my music in the future.

Kobie Kaasjager Thank you and back at you.
Interesting piece,I like the simple design and the sheen and color of the wood.
Beautiful bowl surrounded by legs..
Very clever design...
This is just beautiful! Thanks for sharing your skills and talent with us
Assaad Abou-Rached Thanks for watching and your support.
Nice job. The color and grain really shows well.
George Brill Thank you.
Like the design...simple but beautiful. Really enjoy all of the wood turning videos. Get so many good ideas from the videos.
Bill K Thank you. I have more coming, but it's so extremely hot in my shop right now, I haven't been in it to much. Thanks for watching and there is more to come.
Very nice bowl! And the high speed background music is a nice touch, also.
Ted Weddell Lol!!! Thank you.

Alan Simpson Thanks for the support. Let me know how yours turns out.

Maui Harward Thank you. I'm in the middle to revamping my workshop, but there will be more videos to come.
Beautiful, and, thank you for showing how to make legs.
Jens Kærgaard Larsen Thank you.
It turned out to be a winner

I was thinking earlier today of doing something similar to that. Now I know how. Thanks mate.
Makes me think of a dog food bowl. But a really nice dog food bowl. :)
Lol!! I guess for a small dog like a shiatzu. Thank you.

Love this bowl...I have a big chunk of big leaf maple that I am going to turn. I also want to do a square bowl.
very nice video, thank you very much
Dennis Davis Thank you for watching. 😆
Bulkier than most, but I like it. You should be proud of yourself.
Robert Cornelius Thank you, sir.
nice bowl mate i love it!
Regards, Afshin.
CraftWithAfshin Thanks you.
Excelente trabalho.
Good work
Islamuddin Islamuddin Thank you
i like the tips
nice bowl! I like it!
OJ Stevens Thank you. I wasn't sure at first, but I really love the way it came out. Thanks for watching.
what did you start with? type of wood and dimensions?
Thanks
Hi,
I am wondering what chainsaw you would recommend for cutting out bowl blanks
Thanks.

elegants
It is big leaf maple and it was probably 7 x 7 x 5

from 3:30 in all i could watch was that chuck moving across the table, waiting for it to fall...
medieval knievel Lol!!! I'm glad it didn't, but tools do fall from time to time.
Nice bowl. Maybe you could find somewhere else to mount the camera when you are using that table. It was shaking quite a bit as you were putting on the finish.
Way ahead of you. I just upgraded my camera and Mic system and then I built a whole separate camera jig. Production will definitely be improved.
Ya I like this one want to make it my self
Mark Lethbridge Thank you.
hi how much you charge for one like this but 14x14
wahid makhlouf Well, my first question is, does it need to be big leaf maple? I cannot find a piece that large. Could it be another type of wood?
Woodturners Journal Yes and 12x12 is fine any type of hard woods it’s ok
Is there any way a bowl like that could be made bigger?
Samsonite It definitely could be made bigger. Just start with a bigger blank and make sure it's square.
Very nice peace.
What is that liquid you painted the wood to get this amazing finish?
Thanks
Brisolino
Gilson Brisolino Thank you. I just used regular, wipe on Minwax Polyurethane, high gloss. Then I buffed and waxed it.
Thanks

The magazine was Woodturning Design and the publisher was All American Crafts.
have you tried turning any salt cedar? a friend that lives in Pahrump sent me a piece, it turns really nice!
Thank you and no about the salt cedar. Perhaps I'll make my way to Pahrump and see if I could get some. I'm always interested in turning new wood.
Very cool bowl! What size was your blank?
Keith Davis Thank you. It wasn't big. I think 7 x 7.
what the oil do u use?
ZHENYUAN LI Usually I use Minwax Tung oil, but this time I only used the Minwax Wipe-On Poly.
Why not make the bottom a half sphere as well? Would have stood on the four legs and in the middle not touching the table.
I have no real explanation for that, other then, that's not how I was feeling at the time. 😊 That's a good idea. I just did it differently.
R u related to Kyle toth
Blake Yoreo Nope.
Nice bowl - shame about the soundtrack - high speed music overlaying high speed wood turning...
pointer2null Lol!!! Yeah, I like to listen to music while turning. I could put other music over the time lapse parts, but I feel it takes away a little from the video. I'll have to watch the volume of my music in the future.
great work you do matey, but your sound engineer needs to be fired
Jonathan Evans Lol. I'm working on the sound. Thank you, though.
the work you do is impeccable. 👍
Terrible lighting.
Burn The Obedient I agree.
