You don't need to use a foreach here, it just makes it slower. Just set the polyextrude to individual rather than connected components and you can use the attribute in "zscale" in the local control tab.
great question, short answer is yes. Long answer is; I am eager to see where sidefx take Karma in the next release as that would nullify the need for a third party GPU renderer if its good
When I apply the texture, in the renderer, it renders "red" (Even though its more a pink than red), and I cant seem to apply the texture. But I did everything you did down to a tee..... Even played your sped-up part to .2x speed so I can see what you did.
hey Brad, when materials render pink it highlights that houdini is unable to find the texture file specified, have you double checked what your trying to read in? sorry I can't be more specific
@@Helios.vfx. im using houdini for like 5 years and dont remember they changing something really drastically.. i mean they add new things but old workflows still work, do you have concrete example?
Houdini version of this video is too much old. Some of node no more obtain, so major part of this video will not work anymore. Need version above "19.0" please.
the tutorial was made over a year ago, i followed the tutorial in 18.5, But i did get stuck on the voxel mesh node at 15:41, the interface of this node has changed (updated labs tools) and im getting red errors
@@WillPreston3D 3:49 [color gradient] I'm stuck here. Checked many times, but there're no same name node in the newest version. I found similar function node in "ver19.0" above. But it's also not completely same function anymore. Moreover, this tutorial is bit too much complex for the houdini beginners like me. Honestly say, using Zbrush for the rock structure is 100 times more practical than this. Is there any of more simple but more practical tech by houdini than Zbrush? If you can show us those nice simple "Tips", then I'm very appreciated.
@@RedBattalion9000 its actually called "Labs color gradient" when you're doing the tab search, you need to have sideFX labs tools installed or it wont show up. there are many different ways to create rocks, some procedurally, some destructively (zbrush), they both have their pros and cons. this tutorial is excellent,

You're totally right, thanks for the tip!
at 6:46 I am getting an error during the polyextrude expression prim(0,0,"height",0) "prim is not defined"
Best best , best tutorial ever…..
Nicely done!
thank you!
cool stuff. thanks for sharing
Friend, I got stuck when installing the megascans plugin, an error occurs when exporting
thanks for the video !
Thank You very much!
How does it work without UV? I'm trying to make the material builder myself with Redshift
Procedural triplanar projection or you can add UV's in houdini. better to add UV's and bakemaps so your renders are faster
any chance you're going to consider redshift in the future?

Sir my mind stucked when you are doing coding please tell me where to learn coding for houdini
If anyone knows please tell me

The thing that bugs me about houdini is that in every versio they change lots of stuff in nodes
like what?
@dnch placement of elements, nodes, mixing nodes, way of doing certain things, deleting nodes. Etc

WHY WHY WHY SideFx? - Why do they change everything so quickly. It is so hard to folow any tutorials that are older than 1 day ;)
This tuorial is too complicated to understand for me
