The cutscene is actually pretty genius.Toreno gets threatened by CJ and while he was about to kill him,he learns that he put his brother out of jail and he feels actually a little bit embarrassed when Toreno only wants to get his brother picked up as his last mission.
GTA Series Videos puts intentionally expensive Diedier-Sachs clothes on CJ just because CJ says in the second cutscene that he wants Sweet to get new clothes. Thus there must be a contrast between CJ's style and Sweet's style.
Sweet, Carl was right, you have to stop doing crimes, follow the path of your younger brother. But you didn't even listen. CJ owns a mansion and had a successful life in San Fierro! He's rich but you want to step on the side as a gangster. Man, what the hell!
Deimos The Badass But Carl committed crimes too for the mafia and triads. At least Sweet want to clean up the hood for the better. He doesn't want Carl to turn into Smoke.
This final part of the game was really phoned in narrative wise, there was a lot to say here when it came to Sweets attitude to CJ breaking out and finding success and happiness. The person who needed a scene here was Kendl, she would definitely have had something to say about Sweet trying to drag his brother back into the hood after everything he had accomplished.
You believe you are part of our revolution, you realize we are not about racism we are about equality... and about bringing justice to those treated badly by society and the Government.

There's nothing wrong with moving on rather than be a stick in the mud, but I think the point here is that Sweet didn't want his brother to overreach himself and take his newfound wealth up his head. Look back to where you came from, so to speak.
@@UltimateXenoZ That’s not really the point. Sweet WANTS to stay there because life isn’t about money or wealth, it’s about family and territory to him and grove street represents his childhood, his dead brother, and his dead mother. He’s pissed with CJ because CJ turned his back on grove street after Sweet got arrested and left it in the hands of crack dealers, which then led to them breaking into the Johnson house and stealing their deceased mothers belongings. How pissed would you be if your mom died and then you see her house being broken into by crackheads and members of the same gang who killed her in the first place? Just to see your sibling or relative rich and enjoying life as if they forgot all about your mom and care only about money now. Sweet is stubborn as shit but he does have valid points and I’m not saying he’s right, but you can’t say he’s wrong either. Some people don’t feel connected to where they grew up while other people do and refuse to abandon that part of them
@@josephstalin2606 Nah man. Actually CJ has no choice. CJ was exiled and he cant go back to protect the hood, because he would be killed by those drug dealers. Tenpenny also threatened CJ not to interfere with smoke's business, which means those drug dealers, even though he does interfere like taking down the loco syndicate. So sweet shouldnt blame CJ for that. It was not his fault.
@@josephstalin2606 Because CJ has no way to go back and protect the hood, so he decides to move on with his life, just like kendl said that in king in exile mission. And at that time, CJ became rich. So at that time, there is no need for him to go back to the hood and risk his life anymore. Theres no such thing as, 'just because you were born and raised there, means you must live there the entire life' you can choose to move on
I understand Sweet tryna let CJ know to remember his roots, but it's just sad that he didn't even get to know all the shit CJ did for Toreno to make sure Sweet is a free man.
I'm going equal to the top comment. The point here in what this mission reflects and this part of the story shows is not the fact of success and what CJ did to get Sweet out of jail. It doesn't say that Sweet's not grateful of what he had done but all CJ's brother ever wanted was him to pay his debts with everybody, including friends, family, etc. Since CJ only ran away several times to avoid getting problems solved, now he was turning his back to the hood where he had grown up turning himself into one of those men bathed in avarice such as Smoke.
@@tndm07 breaking hearts and making millions. I own millions now and have powerful connections through a loyal friend Toreno, those crack heads can have that hood and you can live in that shithole if you want to, I'm Outta here. This would be me if I was CJ.
Probably the most powerful moment in this story. When CJ’s character development really shows and he gets out of the hood mentality meanwhile sweet is reluctant to live outside the hood and is getting dragged down by it
I think this mission exemplifies the contrasts between CJ and Sweet the most. Sweet feels indebted to his hood to the point of making sure it's his duty to protect it, even to the point of being unwilling to make alliances on the outside and making legitimately bad decisions for business, from his unwillingness to enter drug trafficking to being unable to stomach seeing his sister with a man from another gang. By comparison CJ, though his loyalties does lie with the GSF, feels his destiny lies on a different path that branches him out not only to Liberty City, but to align himself with other parties like the Mountain Cloud Boys, opening up his own car business with Cesar from the Aztecas gang (soon to be his brother-in-law), and own shares in the Four Dragons Casino. This clash in characters ultimately comes down to their upbringings. To me, it feels like Sweet was given some kind of "chosen one" upbringing from their mother, which is reflected on why he'd rob bread from people to make sure she didn't get sick, because if one had a mother who was willing to do anything for them, they'd be most willing to return the favour. On the other hand, CJ clearly got a rougher end of the stick. He obviously still felt some form of affection from his family, judging by his decision to return to Los Santos as well as his devastation upon hearing the news of his mother passing, but being the younger one it seemed like he got a lot of shit from Sweet and his friends Smoke and Ryder, and then took near complete blame for Brian dying, leading to his first departure. This lacking of affection is what leads CJ to find himself on another path away from the Grove. For the record, I think Kendl is in the middle of this spectrum, of feeling enough affection to trust in her familial loyalties, but also suffering from disdain and oppression from Sweet. I wouldn't say living either lifestyle is utterly wrong, it's mostly just based on how each brother was brought up. However it is clear that CJ had the bigger success in life due to his willingness to step away from home, and even then Sweet denounces that because the success he made had little benefit for the hood - CJ in the end does repay that debt Sweet was needing from him. Whether he'd be able to comprehend CJ's decisions to venture out of the hood to maintain his celebrity life is another question.
I guess what people don't understand about sweets mentality is that when you grow up in a place like that and all you have is your gang and your family that's what is the most important to you and gangs back in the day were all about respect and not forgetting your roots which cj does. So if you really look at it cj is running like he did in liberty city.
it because he still hold a grudge against carl until 'end of the line' CJ responsible for brian death, and it's not one way accusation, because CJ also think so, then CJ leave for liberty city for his own, leaving when the families need him most. it's mentioned that "All your brother want is for you to pay your debt CJ" it's not materialistic debt, it's more like morality debt. Well, i also got irritated when sweet badmouthing CJ after all what he did to freed him from the jail, i guess it because simply he didn't know, it's easy to accuse someone when we know nothing. and for sweet tantrum, i think i can relate
Jacket Gangs are a wrong thing. Nothing productive comes from that bullshit. People should stop praising the low life of a gang and start being something good of themselves.
Sweet should be grateful, CJ took the hoods by himself, no gangbangers, HIM. He has every right to leave, if CJ didnt come to San Andreas, Sweet wouldve been dead.
Infact, I think CJ is the R E A L leader of GSF. I didnt enjoy being in a gang that much but I went with it. Then after I started some races, pull off a heist, chase OG Idiot.
I remember playing this game when i was younger and when he said "you sound just like smoke right now" everybody in the room got quiet and someone was like "ooooooooo"

Well now if you see it CJ has become one of the most powerful man in LA. He is a manager with a big time rapper as well as big business ventures in multiple cities and has the protection of an influential government figure.
This is hella true to life cause sweet wants to stay in the hood and wants to be a survivalist all his life and struggle but Carl and kendl got out made sure they did something bigger. This hella true in real life.

This final part of the game was really phoned in narrative wise, there was a lot to say here when it came to Sweets attitude to CJ breaking out and finding success and happiness. So far, I’m wiping out every motherfucking Balla fool and Vago pricks off Grove territories! Send ‘em all to fuckin’ Hell! The Grove are heading back to the top!

"rome wasn't built in a day, nigha."
There's nothing wrong with moving on rather than be a stick in the mud, but I think the point here is that Sweet didn't want his brother to overreach himself and take his newfound wealth up his head. Look back to where you came from, so to speak.
But what if some people don't want to stay in that place forever?

What can the hood do without CJ is my question?
I love the way you analyzed the characters! 100% agree with you
I guess what people don't understand about sweets mentality is that when you grow up in a place like that and all you have is your gang and your family that's what is the most important to you and gangs back in the day were all about respect and not forgetting your roots which cj does. So if you really look at it cj is running like he did in liberty city.
Jacket But CJ do everything to save Sweet and what Sweet said??? Sweet never really care about his brother.
it because he still hold a grudge against carl until 'end of the line' CJ responsible for brian death, and it's not one way accusation, because CJ also think so, then CJ leave for liberty city for his own, leaving when the families need him most. it's mentioned that "All your brother want is for you to pay your debt CJ" it's not materialistic debt, it's more like morality debt.
I always wondered how Toreno knew the moment CJ’s phone rang. 😂
