That brought tears to my eyes….recorded on a cell phone but the talent and inspired musicianship plus arrangement comes through….just a wow. Thx Leland.
Brilliant! Firstly every Bass is fantastic (expensive) and secondly this Orchestra is well balanced, dynamic, cohesive and luxuriously understated! Another great moment in our Travels With Leland!
Wolf Trap is great! I love the sound dynamics and the view from the stage! I’ve seen many shows there since I live in Maryland, but it’s the first time I’ve had this vantage point!
It is pretty astonishing the audio recording capability of mobile phones in 2023. Thanks much for this Mr. Sklar. The symphony sounds really nice via your mobile.
Thank you for sharing this orchestrated piece..how nice it is even off a phone..the wonders of today's technology. Greatly appreciated 🙏 Leland Sklar. PEACE 🙏 ☮️ Stay safe , be safe..enjoy your time on stage tonight !
Hey there, Lee and everyone! I am seeing these twin videos 21 hours after they've been posted. The wait was worth the enjoyment of such lush sounds from impeccable artistry. Thank you SO MUCH for delighting the world.

@kateconway-hickman5945 Hajnal was Shazam's report on the music in this video. Shazam is based on a digital match, so it's difficult to ID anything live. Just too much variation. I was surprised when it got Hoedown in the first Wolf Trap video after a few wrong answers.
This is an incredible performance of this piece! The acoustics and balance are sublime. Every section seems to shine. I actually really love the birds in the background- it feels like it was meant to be part of the piece. The contrast of the beauty of nature against the war.
Lee, the sound quality from the symphony is just amazing being recorded on your cellphone! I watch all your videos in VR on a screen that's at least 120" the whole thing is just so good. Thank you again for a look at something we'd never see if it wasn't for you!
So beautiful, Lee! This is wonderful! It was such a treat finding that you had recorded and posted this. Y'all are moving on down the seaboard to my home state. Have a restful night, all of you, friends!
That what is a smartphone in ones pocket can both video and record this video is still novel to this weathered soul. Thank you for this unique view and listen.

Wow Lee what a brilliant concert! Thanks a lot for this ! A great symphony orchestra! The concert lasted over 3 hours with a small intermission, and the soundcheck beforehand also seemed to be quite extensive (I was at the Filene Center early). What an energetic performance! The sound was really good, not too loud and not too soft and your bass ,Lee, was very incisive and incredibly good !In my opinion, Lee is the most important musician in Lyle Lovett's band, there was no break for Leland (for Brad, the singer and Amy, who is from Washington and was greeted frenetically, yes). And the encores really got down to business, every musician got his solo, including Brad, of course also brilliant! I'm glad that I still have a ticket for the concert in Richmond (8.8 .), then without orchestra. And Mr. Cox on the piano got standing ovations for his solo and and and ...❤
Now I know where Dan Fogelberg took his orchestral music influence from , Mr Sklar .... Breathtakingly beautiful footage and sound ! I wonder if Mr Kunkel had a sad reflection about Dan while absorbing the remarkable orchestra ,as I know they were great friends ?
That was a fantastic, beautiful concert. From start to awesome kick ass encore. Being able to see it was such a treat. Thanks to you, the band, and the NSO.
Thanks got another great video. The orchestra were very, very good indeed. And that was the rehearsal! I am sure it will be the best gig yet as the pressure of the other musicians will raise everyone’s game. We are fortunate to see such a marvellous venue. Thank you again as I am in UK and will never be able to visit Wolf Trap.
Is some of this the work of John Williams? Gorgeously cinematic - captures the west. Srunning recording on your phone, by the way - full stereo if you wear good headphones!
Thrilling! Is there any point where the orchestra plays as the large band is playing? You've mentioned more than once that you practice differently when there's an orchestra. Thanks❤️👍❤️👍
@lelandsklar6363 Still up? I'm up early. A pedestrian question, please. How does the FOH sound handle that? Do they setup for the large band as usual? The power of a full orchestra may speak for itself. Thanks❤️👍❤️👍
Thanks Lee that was great, love watching and listening to the orchestra, what a wonderful "raw" video, looks like a rehearsal, and they did not even stop once. What orchestra is this? Thanks again that was a treat.

National Symphony Orchestra and this was the run through rehearsal.
Is the piece the orchestra is playing Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams?
It is Dartmoor from the movie War Horse written by John Williams
Hey Lee did you note the attachment on the headstock of the orchestras bass fiddles? What is it?
It is an extension allowing them to access lower notes while not adding another string.

Who writes the orchestral arrangements for the Lyle songs?
