This is one of the greatest proformances of all time. No one comes close to the talent that is demonstrated in this short video. He is the world's greatest guitarplayer singer/songwriters that there will ever be! The Beatles, Led Zep, Nirvana, Stones are but a distant second. John is number-one!!!!
Haha sad. He's an amazing artist sober and was before he got fucked up. If you like this of him you don't know true talent and are making this part of him grandiose this was his lowest of the low. He is better than this. Thankful he got out of it. He wouldn't be here today if he didn't.

it pains me to see my hero like this, im just so glad that he is on track! check out his song, "the past recedes" if you want to see how good he is now! peace
John Frusciante is my hero and my idol as a guitarist. To see him like this, tears my heart in two. But I think him getting on, then off his heroine addiction, made him an even stronger and better guitarist.
It's really good indeed ! Everything on there's amazing, including the untitled ones. Untitled #2 & #3 blow me away ! I suggest you consider buying "smile from the streets you hold" too. It's recorded during the same period & in the same kind of dark/morbid atmosphere, but it really adds something to the song. SFTSYH 's really hard to find though ! Cheers, Gaël ;)
You can mock his past life and guitar playing, but I think it is almost as great as him and his playing nowadays. He is genius, and his music is art, at least for me.
this is the only frusciante music worth listening to. ever since he left the point of being artistically aware he lost everything that made his music interesting or creative. now hes just another catchy songwriter. but it doesn't matter much to me, i'm eternally grateful for the music he managed to make in this time. i guess he's lucky, for surviving such an amazing artistic surge, many of those who even frusciante looks up too died before they reached their peak.
That's just beautiful, I mean the music is totally out of this world, wich was also the state he was in a the time, "Out Of This World". Even in his singing you can feel he puts his heart in that song. It's a shame he never recorded a proper version of it though...
@@jaardpeer4148 The channel RHCP Sessions have just released an interview with the filmmaker Bram Van Splunteren about the filming on UA-cam where they cover that topic. The full interview is very interesting!

if you see that. its crazy he rejoined the rhcp and still was so fuKKin awesome on the guitar. that guys a hero! thank god he didnt die. sad he left again.
Tuvo suerte
This is the first time after quiting peppers, he gave an interview to dutch television, Vpro, peppers a dutch connection it is also on. John tells the real reason about quiting an his opinion about using heroin etc. He lost his theet, nose bone and most of his tattoos are damaged or disappered from the abcesses he got from viens/needles. I´m very glad to see his recovery, and his appearens nowadays. the Best!!!
This is heartbreaking stuff. I'm so happy Frusciante got himself out of the mess he was in. To go from having never played in a band before to joining the Red Hot Chili Peppers would have caused problems for anyone.
i heard john wasn't even in the house when it burned... away im not sure about that, but all the scars on his arms are from improperly shooting up... 100% sure, heard it straight from his mouth.
This song is beautiful, if you analyse him in this position where he is on drugs and has no money it sounds like he is crying for help. He isn't "dying" he is crying. Also what is the name of this song???
I totally agree jayykidd and phrethead666. I know from my own experiences that when you're as high as he is in this video, things sound a lot better. Does anyone know if John has ever watched any of this interview or any other footage from this time like "stuff"?
it really shows you wat drugs can do to you, his teeth are rotting away, his complexion is bad. He also lost his great voice. But he pulled out and after 70,000 dollar surgery he has good teeth again and he has a beautiful voice.
I think his voice is bad in this but the guitar is euphorically warm and very creative. You can tell hes high on weed in the entire VPRO interview. I think it promotes a good spirit in people.
Jesus, at this point in his addiction he is a living corpse. Check out "Lifes a Bath" It was done 2 years after this and is the music video shows him take bloody bandages off of his arm to find a vein to shoot. Sad stuff for such an amazing artist.
I love the red hot chili peppers and some of johns solo work but I hate how he is revered and if some unkown artist was to realease this people would say he was a bad singer, guitar is kinda unoriginal too, its just a blues rythm played on the pantatonic scale or something..i can't remember i tried to work it out a while back
My eyes are totally open. I'm not sure if you've seen the entire VPRO interview or if you yourself understand what kind of patterns of thinking marijuana promotes in people, but his whole vibe and spirit of the interview is like he's stoned/high from marijuana. I honestly don't think he shot up heroin right before the interview.
Poor John... it's a shame such a great artist had that horrible moment in his life. Maybe he's so great now in part for having that dark age... I feel sad watching this...
creativity isnt a thing that waits in your body to pop out. some people get creative when they listen to music, listen to the sound of the sea and some get creative while on drugs. ofcourse you need to practise as well, you dont just learn to play an instrument just over night and sure you can be creative without drugs as well.
sure i agree, BUT my point is that its stupid for people coming here and saying "man this is sad" and bla bla bla. theres severel reasons for that as well. all im saying is, you wanna point fingers, do it somewhere else. a lot of his fans actually prefers johns earlier works, like this clip. he himself doesnt look back at this period as a sad one either, why should we? kind of ingnorant judging a guys life based on youtube-clips ey?
yeah i know, no offense to JF or anything hes one of my fav guitarist but i just think his singing is a bit "hippy"ish. i love him more for RHCP. if he loves doin solo also then im all for it.
yes it could. in fact as i said before, the biggest musicians have all tried and done drugs. saying drugs are all bad is ingorant. the reason john is singing/playing the way he is in the video is not because he is fucked but he was playing from his heart. its raw music which many of his fans actually prefer
finally someone believes me! and yes i am lucky! i was very depressed at the time and my friend, after much convincing, took me to see a Warpaint show(JF's girlfriend at the time, still?, Emily's band). my friend got me plastered and i went outside to have a cig after a couple awesome bands, and that's when i saw JF puffing heavily on a cigarette. i didn't mind him much until my friend got batshit crazy over him and begged me to help him talk to JF. it was pretty funny
I agree with your last statement, but I can't agree with you first statement. I think all of his music is just bold and creative, though I do understand this is more harsh and raw than his latest stuff, but I still think all the music he makes is just simply amazing.
It is really painfull to see my idol like this but his music still very awsome!!
this is my favourite footage of this man. pure, raw, deperate, rageing emotion- we'll never see this from him again, thank god
