In this episode of Amplified, I will begin to build my fiberglass kick panels for “The Mule”. This will be a multipart series. Today I make some “FLASHMAT” to start with and I build a surface for my speakers to mount to. For this system I will be building a tweeterless two-way setup, comprised of two Hybrid Audio Legatia L6s and two L4s. This system will be actively crossed over using my McIntosh 6 channel amp’s built-in crossovers.

I like that you are using non conventional methods for most of the Mule build! What a badass. Going against the grain is the way to go.

Install looks very clean. Great to see you finally able to get your own system sorted. Should look and sound magic when finished. You have to balance those deep lows with the mids and highs and this combination looks like you will have a nice linear sounding system. Keep it up. Now off to the store to buy some Sound Man gear!

Freakin awesome work! Its astonishing how clean you are when you work. I like the idea with a thin flexible sheet of glass to make a perfect mould. Might steal that idea :p

Ive been watching the show for years and ive learned alot from it- different techniques and products
I enjoy the CUSTOM part of car audio mostly from taking 1 year welding & 2years autobody collision repair class,i hated school I got all d's & was basically failing,except I gadjiated- but 1 class I had all A's in was auto body collision repair class, I told myself I gotta learn something in life & I did-enjoying it so much-,so fiberglass and abs plastic's & plastic repair is whare I shine, doing car audio for family and friends and maybe making alil hush money on the side, have been for years now and thanks to sm/Doug I've learned a few techniques they didn't teach me in schoo

Love your work, I haven't seen or ever considered laying up a thin sheet of fibreglass and building from there before, whats your thinking behind doing it that way rather than just laying up straight onto the surface you want to form around ?
just wondering why you didn't just lay fiberglass directly onto the blue painters and get the perfect shape going and keep adding layers there?
I believe cloth is easier to manipulate less messy at the start and flexible!!

Any reason for doing kick panels rather than some angled door pods? Looks like you haven't got a lot of footroom anyway? Also how come you're doing the 4" speakers at foot level? From what I've read they are better higher up (ideally dash or A pillar)

anywhere,you can use hairspray,same chemical,cheap,and comes in a spray can,dont even need a compressor or gun.cheap and easy way out.Your welcome! I been doing fiberglass for years,too long actually. lol

I can't believe there are people in this day and age who don't wear a damn seatbelt. Seriously, the NHTSA needs to stop wasting taxpayer money saving lives that clearly have no business being saved. Instead, they should have one week nationwide in which all speed limits are abolished, and seatbelt laws are not enforced. The trick to solving problems, is to make them solve themselves!
I find it slightly odd that people inside a metal box HAVE to wear seatbelts, yet people on two wheels don't need to be strapped to anything.
That had never actually occured to me until you mentioned that!
When someone crashes on a motorcycle, it's best if they aren't strapped to it. I've been trail riding for a few years and I've always been told that the a riders first instinct should be to kick the bike away/let it go to avoid getting hurt even more.
