I love the idea that you’re doing with the beautiful butterfly and the quilting job is sew amazing good job you inspire me so much just going for it without a pattern all you wanted to do is a stain glass and it looks better than the Stainglass thanks so much for sharing❣️🧵✂️💕💖💗💓💕❤️
So happy to see that you are interested in art quilts. The butterfly is beautiful. When I started making fabric wall art, I found some good designs in a Zentangle book I had. I have always loved butterflies and in fact I made a lap quilt with appliqued butterflies for a sick friend.
Several decades ago I took a class where we pieced a butterfly that was about 30 inches across the wide part of the upper wings. Mine was done in blue/violet batiks with gold lamee' bias tape. It became a wall hanging that ultimately was gifted to a dear friend who went nuts over it, so I felt that she would love it more than I did. These sort of projects are so fulfilling and fun to do, plus they often times come out very unique and lovely. Good for you that you went for it and experimented with design and process!! Love your channel.
Oh my goodness that sounds AMAZING! I bet it's a gorgeous piece of art! I think the bias tape would have worked if I had made a larger piece like you had. Thank you so much sharing, Deborah 💖
You must have been channeling me some how! I have actually been pondering this exact same thing. It started in October when I was a vender at a local craft fair. I'm a newbie at trying to peddle my wares and displaying them attractively. I hung one of my Christmas wall hangings across a window because fortuitously that's where they put me. In the afternoon when the sun shone through that window it was amazing! I had embellished the stars around the nativity with metallic gold thread and it really sparkled. I had a lot of comments on it and yes, it sold! (Also I have been a stained glass junkie but never got into the craft because I knew I would become addicted. I can only handle one obsession at a time🤪)
I'm leaving the butterfly! I agree, it's flying across the block, and also goes along with the theme of the project of not trying to be "perfect" but having fun! 💖
That came out so adorable! Oh, it might be fun to try to try to put sheer fabrics together with the black bias tape and hang it in a frame and put it over a window so the light shines through.
What if you used a small satin stitch in black where you originally intended to use the bias tape or even super small black ribbon? I love it as it is but for the next one . . . . 😜❤️
Yay Creativity! Glad you’re able to have fun just going with it making whatever it ends up being. That feels so good when obligations feel like ALOT. 💜🦋
What about “tracing” a butterfly….maybe from a coloring book! I did a cat …traced it from a photo of an art painting. Used black stretchy material for the bias biding….my first attempt! What fun an so expanding to “create” something!
Oooo I love this idea! And you're 100% right! It's a great way to stretch into more creative techniques without worrying about doing something "wrong"!
Oh I bet it did! I'm always drawn to batiks because they're so beautiful, I just get weirdly intimidated by them. haha I'm going to change that though!
I have an art quilt pattern by Laura Heine I've been too intimidated to try. This was brilliant. A fun, small way to give it a try. I will definitely have to follow suit!
When do you think you will be working in your studio , is it coming along nicely. What a difference it will be for you. That is so lovely my granddaughter would love that . Butterflies hold a special place for both my hubby and granddaughter , would love to try it myself , ind you. I e wouldn’t be anywhere near as good as yours that’s for sure . Your very talented . Thanks for sharing .
I’m really not sure when the studio will be done 🤔 it’s certainly taking longer than I anticipated 😂 but once it’s done, it’s going to be amazing! I hope you give the butterfly a try! It was so fun to make!
I hope. Bless you things csn soon get moving along for you . But these things take their time don’t they and cost as well. Yes I loved the butterfly snd I know Lauren would for sure , so yes I will give it a try in due course for sure. I need to get some plain pale fabrics really first. Look forward to your new makings .xxx
Cute project. To give it the stained glass effect, you might try a narrow zigzag satin stitch around the parts you want emphasized. This will give you the stained glass effect without being bulky. Since you have a straight sewing Judi, you would need a machine that has a zigzag function. Anyway, no criticism, just a suggestion to think about. Good idea that, I might just “play around” with something just to be creative. Thanks for the video. 😊
What was the name of your opening song. It was beautiful. I'm going through some serious medical problems. The song just took me away. I have to tell I closed my eyes and let the music take me away. Thank you so much.
Patricia, big hugs! I hope you have quick healing 💖 The song is called "Today is a Good Day To Live" by John T. Graham. Here is a link to it on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/uoYSptSLhfY/v-deo.htmlsi=zjLD71kKPE4u6tnF
I love this Miriam! You are an artist for sure! I want to try it too! Thank you!
Thank you so much, Janice! I hope you try it. It's seriously so much fun!
I like the butterfly off center. A true art quilt!
Yay! Thank you, Sharon! After staring at it for awhile, I agree with you! I quite like it 💖
The butterfly off center makes it look like it's fluttering. Gives a sense of movement. 😊
That's true! I think I'm going to leave it! 💖

Thanks so much! I was surprised how much I enjoyed this free-form style!

💖💖💖 Zentangle! That’s a great idea! 💡
@@StitchObsessed Your pebbles reminded me of zentangle. Yours were so precise and neat too!
I love this project! It turned out so cute! I love that you are not afraid to try something new and different. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Thank you so much for watching! It was a lot of fun! 💖

That was fun! I like to play sometimes too. It is being creative. You never know what is going to come from it - it evolves.
Exactly! And it's a great exercise for problem solving and pivoting without getting overwhelmed lol 💖 I love it!
That is adorable ❤. You could always add a bee 🐝 or dragonfly to counter act the balance (embroidery). But it is great just how it is!
Oh, I like this idea! I may just do that! 💖 Thank you for the suggestion!
Glad you posted this. My neices want a butterfly quilt. First thought, Lord this is gonna be hard! Thank you ❤
You can do it!!!! 💖
Do you have an embroidery machine? A black satin stitch instead of bias tape would be beautiful
It definitely would! I do have an embroidery machine, but I didn't want to have to drag it out and then figure out what to do next haha!!

Haha!! Kathy!!! If we lived close, we could take a stained glass class together! haha Congrats on selling the wall hanging! That's awesome! 💖
Ohhhh. So cute and IMO leave the butterfly off center. It gives the illusion of flight ❤.
I agree 100 percent. Don't center the butterflies.
I'm leaving the butterfly! I agree, it's flying across the block, and also goes along with the theme of the project of not trying to be "perfect" but having fun! 💖
Absolutely love it! Border it and make a bag out of it!!❤❤❤
Oh I'm already thinking about making another one and turning it into a bag hehe 💖 great minds think alike!
That came out so adorable! Oh, it might be fun to try to try to put sheer fabrics together with the black bias tape and hang it in a frame and put it over a window so the light shines through.
Oh, I love that idea! It would be GORGEOUS!
Really cute. I would have thought the black outline would have been perfect too. Guess ya never know till ya try.❤
I think it would have worked better had a made a larger butterfly. Maybe I'll attempt it again, someday! 💖
What if you used a small satin stitch in black where you originally intended to use the bias tape or even super small black ribbon? I love it as it is but for the next one . . . . 😜❤️
Haha! I’ve actually thought of that too! 😂🤓

Yes! It really helps me to relax and not worry about doing something "right" or "wrong". We need projects like that once in awhile, right? 💖💖
I love this fun project! Everything I do is not straight. I love it!
💖💖💖
Fun to have a small creative project to do. Nice job.
Thank you for watching, Linda! 💖
Wow, it came out beautiful 😍. Great video ❤
Aww thank you so much, Dolly! 💖💖 You're always so supportive!
If you want my 2 cents, I like that the butterfly is a little wonky. Butterflies never fly in a straight line. Nice job.🥰
I was going to say the same thing. It looks organic to place the butterfly off center.
Thank you! I've decided to leave it as is. I actually like the idea of the butterfly flying across the block. Now I want to make more! haha! 💖

I love Batiks I did a unicorn Pillow with Batiks. It came out so good.
Oh I bet it did! I'm always drawn to batiks because they're so beautiful, I just get weirdly intimidated by them. haha I'm going to change that though!
Beautiful butterfly. Makes me think. I took a free motion class today
Thank you so much! 💖
So cute. Love the color combos 😊
Thank you so much, Diane! They're such pretty fabrics!
Enjoyed the video this morning I will definitely try this process
Yay! So glad you're going to give it a try!
I think it would look fabulous as a bedroom pillow! Fantastic work!
I agree! 💖
Love it. You make everything look easy. You've encouraged me to try FMQ
I'm so glad, Paula! You can do it! 💖
Thank you so creative.
Thank you for watching, Donna! 💖
Beautiful 🤗
Thank you, Deborah! 😊💖

YES!! You should! It seriously was so fun to kind of making it up as I went! 💖
👋👋 I ❤ 🦋’s too. Your 🦋 maybe not centered, but I look at and think it decided in mid flight to take a left turn. 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Yes! I'm going with that theory! It's just flying around the block. haha! 💖 Thank you so much for watching!!!
😊 butterflies are precious.
I agree 💖
That was fun ! ❤🦋
Thank you for watching, Robin! 💖💖
So cute!
Thank you! 💖
This was a great video. I'm gonna have to try that after Christmas!
Yay! I’m so glad you’re gonna give it a try, Pamela!

Great idea! Thank you, Elaine!! 💖 I do have a Singer that has a zigzag stitch. It just “clunks” pretty loud so it’s not my favorite to use 😂😬
Adorable!! Glad you took some time to have some fun.
Thank you, Gayla! 😊💖
Love it
Thank you, Shirley! 💖
Do you have more videos on application and that stitch Bond very interested never done that before love your butterfly
Ya know, I haven't done any videos for appliqué, but I should! I used to do it a lot more, and it's so fun!
@StitchObsessed thank you
ooooh exciting!!!!
Yeah! haha!

I like the off centeredness of it!
I kind of wish it was angled a little bit like it’s flying off to one corner 🤓💖
Hi, I can't find the fabric that you mention.
Some shops might not carry it. I would try looking for it on Etsy. Lots of small shops carry these types of fabrics. 💖
