Gothamchess deserves a round of applause for his insane work ethic. Watching 6 hour games and immediately putting out videos recapping and condensing them all is crazy. Watching this video, I was able to understand the Pragg and Vidit games a lot more.
Levy is great but he doesn't have to watch all 6 hrs of the games, just the 20 minutes to see and analyze the moves.
I am agree with you but don’t forget Hikaru is PLAYING the candidates and still doing his recap 🔥. He is insane too lol 😆
@@victoro5322 I mean I think it is a good way to relax and consolidate by doing the video. He probably just recorded the game and checked the engine for 15 minutes. But i think other gm would have hesitated because it can be seen as showing too much his thought process.
Just imagine the level of insanity that hikaru is doing currently
100%. Thanks Levy for distilling each day’s play down into engaging and concise parcels
"Vidit has to be brave. He has to run." - Levy
In the chess board.🤣
I find this very fascinating as in a battle, sometimes the best strategy to win is to run ....
To make a king move when there are queens and rooks attacking everywhere is indeed brave.... Most people would only move their strongest pieces in such situation.
Very poetic actually 😅
This youngster Hikaru has a bright future ahead of him I bet.
Youngster????
His real name is Christopher
@@WGT1812 🤡
Hikaru is 37
Hikaru is 37 years old . (The number of likes on this comment)
"Nb8 maybe a horrible move, but it'll be great content." - Naka
It's not a bad move lol
"Should I move Nb8 for content, yay or nay?"
Nb8 was actually top engine line.
When you're down to 2 minutes each you are in Hikaru's wheelhouse. Best blitzer in the world, and that's exactly where you are.
Magnus is best in every variation of chess
Best blitz player is still Magnus, lol. He has six World Titles to Hikaru's ZERO.
Magnus is best.
Everybody knows Magnus is cold like rock
@@emanuellucin what about in bullet? hikaru beat magnus in the bullet chess championship
Pragg out prepping Nepo in Nepo's own comfort opening is insane.
if you outprep somebody, you usually do it in their comfort opening, because that is what you guess they will play
As an Indian, I can confirm that this is the average level of prep we have for tests
@@dmitripogosian5084but the thing is that pragg is white so he could have controlled the opening his way
Levy I gotta say man you are the reason so many new people are into chess and you're an amazing chess player/teacher and your chess content in 2nd to none. Forget all the haters because wether they know it or not... They're fans too
Heartfelt, but that's no way to get pinned.
Oleg?
@@raylopez99 lol wasn't looking for the pin. I genuinely meant every word of it. I watch Levy everyday he's fricken hilarious and I love his passion for the game.
@@notyoavgbf1005 not sure who that is but keep the jokes coming it's all good
I prefer Hikaru's recaps bc for a higher rated player (2100) like me, I can follow his train of thought (at least most of the time) and he provides much better insight into tactics and different variations of the positions. Levy is too beginner friendly imo
"Qe5 wins for prag and loses for vidit" is a wild coincidence given both of their games and opponents today. just heartbreaking for the indians.

Nepo against Prag game is crazy, this preparation from a young player is fantastic, and how the f Nepo held it, no idea
I genuinely believe he blundered on purpose in order to take Pragg out of prep. And it paid off. Giant risk, giant reward.
shit is crazy
@@vincelopez756nah, it's not big difference between bxh2 and nc5 immediately. Position doesn't change much except black doesn't take a pawn, so if you prepared against bxh2 you can basically play the same way against nc5. But maybe I'm wrong and even such a slight difference could confuse a gm. But i think pragg would be out of prep anyway, even if nepo didn't blunder
It's clear Prag doesn't have it in him to become a world champion just like Fabi. These type of players are fully dependent upon their prep but once the game gets outside of their prep they don't know how to convert unless the position is clearly winning.
Nepo has plot armor
I think this is the content true chess people liked Levy for. Very passionate and informative recaps of epic games
Yep this is how he got popular in the first place , before GTE, how to win at chess, bot games, how to lose at chess, it was recaps of tournaments where magnus played lol

This guy could turn the most boring game of chess into the most intense one with his commentary skills
i also watch chessbase india commentary..it is like watching the nba finals.
HEARTBREAK!
Extraordinary hold by Ian, that's the sort of game you win the candidates by holding on to. Pummeled move after move with engine prep and he gets away with a draw, amazing.
I’m so glad we’re seeing calm, deliberate Ian, and not impulsive emo Ian. If he can stay this focussed, his chances are good.
Wait, so Prag was winning and then he was out of prep and couldn't win? if so, then what's the point? did prag do engine prep himself? if he has a team, give it to someone else so the amazing prep work doesn't go to waste.
Levy shifted from magnus to hikaru
It's called evolution
Always has been.
@@seya_2 It's called a forced downgrade
One of the most exciting candidates of the last decade. Sensational!
man imagine if magnus was playing too, would be crazy
@@777FreeYoungThugwell then it would have been boring because he would have most likely won😂

You're a good teacher and are a great spokesperson for chess but maybe what you're best at or what I find most entertaining is your storytelling. Had me on the edge of my seat anticipating the next move in the nepo/pragg game but especially the fable/vidit game. Great stuff
The narration of the Nepo v Pragg game deserves a brilliant, well done Gotham!👏🏽
Watched your recap after so many days! I feel refreshed seeing flying pieces, crazy analogies and the mma style analysis 🫠❤

Thanks Levy!
This type of analysis / recap vid is Gotham’s bread and butter. So so so good. Such an exciting breakdown
Great game from Hikaru and Firo! Congrats to both for that game
Thank you for your Videos, Levy. It’s the best at the end of a rough day ❤

Just binged the first 5 rounds to get all caught up. Thank you gotham for your recaps and bringing this coverage to the amazing tournament, men's and women's! Chess coverage has come a long way since I started watching the world championship in 2018 and you are a big part of that.

Meh. If all you can do is memorize and can't convert once you're out of prep, I'm not impressed.
Facts bro, he still had to play chess but couldn’t after all the cramming
@@debrascott8775 Pragg is more than capable of playing incredibly creative ideas over the board -- so many beautiful games produced over the past year which made me a huge fan of his. But as others mentioned, I do reckon he's overloaded a little now on prep and pressure.
Yeah the lack of experience does show. As in he has played chess for half the time that Ian played, and this is his first Candidates, so understandable. Hopefully he learns a lot from this.
@@debrascott8775you gotta watch more pragg lol
Best chess coverage in the game! These videos make it so easy for a casual fan like myself to follow & care about the Candidates.
Your work is like a great boxing announcer, bringing the event to life. Also, the Prag match reminds me that even great masters blunder from time to time.
This was like the most “Hikaru” game ever. He just got some unremarkable position then posed nagging practical complications for his opponent until they were in time trouble and choked. Pure Hikaruness
Amazingly hype analysis. Loved it! 💯💯💯👍👍👍
Just an incredible recap of the games. Thanks for everything Levi.
