The night before, two of Bonobo’ s band heard her practicing at 2 am( she practices during the night). In the space of 18 hours, Anna’s part had been written by Bonobo and was being performed in front of 5000.

You forgot to mention that it was the first time she performed for 5,000 people.

She’s literally playing the building - 9,999 pipes on the RAH organ

I can't imagine what it would have been like to be there in person when this happened. The organ is so powerful it can shake the foundation of the building. I believe the story was that Bonobo was performing 5 shows at Royal Albert Hall and this was the last one. She had been practicing late at night after the 4th show. Bonobo's band heard her and then they asked her to play a few things and were thinking they could write something for her. She said she was available for the next night. They came back to her the next day with the sheet music for her, and then they played it. Less than 24 hours after they first heard her. Nobody knew it was happening except her and the band, and I would imagine some people at Royal Albert Hall since they filmed it. The crowd had no idea, and then all of a sudden unexpectedly getting hit with wall of sound like that, it would have been such a surreal experience. There are some comments on the original videos on UA-cam from people who were there and many were saying it immediately brought tears to their eyes, with looks of disbelief. It would be awesome if they record a proper version of this and release it. Anna has become a bit of "celebrity" after this and has met a bunch of famous people now including Benedict Cumberbatch and composer Ludovico Einaudi whose music is wonderful as well.

Anna Lapwood is a world class musician, and a huge inspiration and a role model in her 20's , it's just her chosen instrument is the size of a building 😜 highly recommend her channel and the videos that showcase the organ she is playing, it's immense

She is the greatest. She has played all the great instruments across the globe. Her Interstellar is sublime. All that sound from an ancient instrument without amplification. True power that blows the mind.

Anna is actually on tour in USA at the moment playing recitals both on her own and with the choir she directs at University of Cambridge. She practices at the Royal Albert Hall from 11pm until 6am and is meeting loads of rock stars and their road crews while they set up or after show parties and will always welcome people to the organ loft. Thats how she met Bonobo’s crew and less than a day later she played this

A necessary correction to what occurred in the above notes. There is no "University of Cambridge" per se, but instead within that city, there are different colleges, many of which date back for centuries. Anna is actually Director of Music at Pembroke College in Cambridge; that role makes her the first female to take up that post in the college's history! She is also the Associate Organist at tge Royal Albert Hall, in London, where she has built up a following with her early hours practicing Videos gaining popularity.
Also, her fame grew immensely on a global footing after she collaborated with BONOBO, who has a massive following on Tik Tok. A performance by him, ironically at the Royal Albert Hall, involved her collaborating at only 24 hours notice; that video speaks for itself and won her world wide fame.

..Anna Lapwood is normally a classic organist which plays nowdays at church organs and orchestral organs..
She likes various kinds of music, so also modern trance music..
The combination of a massive orchestral organ and this music can give some epic combinations, which have to been done more often..!!
This is such an epic combination..
Anna Lapwood is a rising organist star and one of the best in the world..!!
    This combination..: EPIC....!!!!

Great to see you guys with the same emotions as me on this. If you watch the same track on previous nights without the organ it's simply not the same. The organ adds so much heart and seeing Anna's actual reaction on this adds to the emotion, I'm not ashamed to say this made me shed a tear, I can't say that about many tracks

I was at an " Organ Spectacular" concert that she was playing in at the RAH in May '23 with 4 other organists. The RAH was full to 80% of its capacity. She then, on her own gave another concert there as part of the BBC Proms series. That was packed solid.
There is a large "drivers mirror" above the music stand, above the keyboard so the organist can see the stage behind.

There's a reason it's called the organ. And why you feel emotional when the heart, lungs and all other organs wake the soul, it breaths for the body.😊

If you keep looking to the centre below the Organ pipes behind the lower lighting rig you will see Anna playing the organ, look for the squarish area of light with vertical bars, that is where the console is and you can just about see her playing. Wow!

The Anna Lapwood with Bonobo video. You get it. You really get it. I had the same reaction. The bass and the interaction are surreal. I too had a tearful emotional reaction. Had it on your review also. I have DJ'ed since 1977, still doing it. This got me like it got you guys. Music is the language of the Universe! Anna Lapwood and Bonobo on Otomo is very special.

Anna was practicing in the middle of the night and Bonobo people were setting up. Pitched they it to have Anna the organ in the finial, 12 hours they had written the organ in, one practice session, and the rest is history... BTW she was using less than half the total power of the organ.. If she had gone all stops out, the sound man would have rubble for sound system

when she looks up and slighly to the right it's when she looks at the crowd though rear view mirror (like in cars). If she looks straight in front of her (like at 08:50 ), it's when she looks at her iPad with music sheets.

I shared this on the family WhatsApp and was amazed to find that my son and his girlfriend were there that night. Unsurprisingly he said it's the best gig he's ever been to! Loving that your reactions were like mine. Apart from the first chord, another highlight for me is at 4:52 on the original and at 10:16 on the above. Gorgeous...

She is actually counting the measures (don't want to screw up here) as she goes. She knew what was about to happen but I don't think she really knew the magnatude of what was about to happen. The crowd was taken away to a place they weren't expecting to go and it was all at her hands. This was genius by so many people... By the way Suzy you have beautiful eyes...

Anna Lapwood she got a piece written for organ because this instrument is not called the king of instruments because it has 1000 times more possibilities than 300 musicians in the orchestra . it's not every day that techno greets you at the Classical Organ

If I remember rightly, Anna practices several times a week overnight at the Royal Albert Hall as its busy during the day.
She blasts out all sorts of music including the Legendary Hans Zimmer (you have to watch her play some of his stuff!) Anyway the Bonobo band were setting up and heard her and said they just HAD to have her play along with them that night and this AWESOME video was born...
