    Only seems like yesterday we were staying and riding with you! So many good memories - I still have the birthday card you got me Julie an Ian, I have your hand drawn map showing the way home taking your "shortcut" over a couple of col's. I still smile every time I hear Tyson mention and Saskia trying to camp in his paddock!

      Hi Kerry - so good to hear from you. Just got back from a Pyrenean Traverse, now heading off to the Basque Country. Tyson is still going strong, now 37 years old. We are old grandparents too with Lewis having two little French kids.... How are you guys, it has been a while now. 😀

    This is really a video that calls for smooth TV presenters who can walk and talk while appearing to be comfortable and in control. No need to look very far for on-camera talent because you both fill the bill with lots left over. I'd like to know someday whether either or both of you have on-camera experience. Most people can't do what you do in this video - be yourselves while "performing." Congratulations on this and all the other things you do so well.

    You both have such a wonderful home. Seeing all those bikes brought back memories of when I used to cycle so long ago. I had moved temporarily into my mothers for a while near the end of my days of cycling & then after finding an alternate place to live I moved out of my mothers place & had my bikes, rollers & tools temporally stored in a small 6 foot x 3 foot shed while I was getting my new place prepared. Other family members had their stuff in other sheds in the backyard also but when I came back about a year later to collect everything it was all gone but all the other family's possessions were still in the other sheds. The family had shoved it on the kerb for anyone to help themselves to it.
    Can you imagine a Reynolds 531 professionally made criterium road frame with Shimano Dura Ace AX gearing with Campag wheels with Clement 12 cotton singles, the road bike you could lift up on your little finger plus a Tange Aero Reynolds 750 track frame with Campag wheels with Clement 9 cotton singles as well as Shimano Dura Ace AX gearing plus all the specialized tools & rollers all thrown out. The Track bike I set the unofficial world record of 1 min 52 seconds for the 1000m Timetrial in 1984 & 1 min 48 seconds in 1988. The Road bike had won many races long & short distance as I was not only capable of long endurance races but also extremely good at sprinting.
    I didn't care about trophies etc as I lived for riding & winning so it would have been nice to keep the bikes as something to hang up on the wall for others to wonder why I would have 2 bikes on the wall but my dysfunctional family for some reason hated me doing cycling. Not one of them ever came to any of my events or cared about if I was any good or not. All I got was why are you wasting your money on stupid bikes when you're never going to get anywhere with them. If I were to buy 2 bikes of the same abilities today then they would be tens of thousands of dollars to replace each, it's such a shame that the world has crazy ppl like that in it.

      Those were the days, toe clips and down shifters. The bike hanging on the wall was Julie’s brothers’ back from 86 when I met her. Got me started in racing.

    Great job you guys did on the house and property. Should be an easy sell to the right person. And I totally agree its so much nicer doing a new build vs a remodel. On a remodel you spend more time and $ in materials redoing stuff vs just building it all from scratch. I totally agree on if you could swap out the house for a smaller one and staying as that would be perfect. So how busy are you in the off season. Should I grab the better half and make a trip there?

  • @Pinzpilot101

    Hmmm.. strange parallels......The fist house I bought i1980 (Derbyshire) was an old Flax Farm that had been converted into two houses for the two daughters, who although not hating each other led very separate lives.(one got married)..My plan was to buy up the second part when the old lady died......but complications with my wife who became my ex put the mockers on that plan.

    • @HomesteadingUncontained
      @HomesteadingUncontained  2 місяці тому +1

      It was weird when we signed for the house. The two 70 year old girls even started hitting each other. 😮

    • @Pinzpilot101
      @Pinzpilot101 2 місяці тому

      @@HomesteadingUncontained Blimey....for me the two old ladies were in their late 50's, (youngsters) one met a bloke for the first time (at old time dancing classes) and the other was a district nurse (she drove a battered old mini clubman estate - which she used to scrape along the dry stone wall at the side of the garden to get to the garage - she said the driveway was small, I had a Marina 1.8TC and I never hit anything....I,ll swear she used to stop only when she hit the back wall of the garage!!!) Both were affable, the one I bought the half a house from.(it was a big old farmhouse made of stone blocks 2 foot thick)....needed money to buy a property with her new fella, I offered a cash deal...took the money in a brief case 13,000 pounds in fivers....nothing in todays money, wouldn't buy a good used car....but they grabbed the money and I got 3 grand off....went straight to her solicitors and handed over the paperwork. Then the renovation work started, house was solid, but one day I came home from work and my ex (that's why she is my ex) had carpet fitters in and they had carpeted over the stairs to my cellar.(you are too young to know but it was like the entrance to Grandad Munster's laboratory)....this was a real old farmhouse cellar with big stone butchering slabs and hooks in the ceiling for carcases....my future workshop!!! marriage ended there🤣🤣🤣🤣
