Stoicism constantly reminds us that our essence is spiritual and not material, so we must live accordingly in order to avoid suffering, or unhappiness. We suffer because we live against cosmic laws that govern the universe. The fact is that not only everything is short lived, but every pleasure is temporarily, and most people confuse pleasure with happiness. Happiness is a complete good as Greek philosopher Plato said.
I have to ask to you even know what being stoic is?? It’s a person who shows no sign of anger pleasure hurt pain happiness in other words they’re indifferent to what’s happening in their surroundings
@@marc2638 I didn't understand what you were trying to say, but Stoics are not exclusively indifferent to their environment. You confuse ascetism and stoicism because they are very different. You are talking about "ascetism", and not stoicism. Check Google please.
@@marc2638 My explanation of the Stoicism is correct, but you should know that stoicism is not the same as ascetism because that's what you wrote in your comment.
Stoicism teaches us that true calm comes from within, not from external circumstances. These 10 lessons serve as a practical guide to mastering our emotions and finding balance in the chaos of life. When we focus on what we can control and let go of what we can't, we unlock a resilience that no storm can shake. Thank you for sharing these timeless principles that help us cultivate inner peace and clarity!
Yes, and it prompts them to escalate until they get that reaction. They are like coke addicts that keep on in search of that elusive very first high that never comes. May we have the stamina to keep the calm within high tides such as these.
10 Ways to Be More Stoic: 1.) Transform everyone into a teacher. 2.) Say no to the easy way, seek out challenges. 3.). Be strict with yourself but tolerant of others. 4.) Allow the journey to be the thing. 5.) Transform envy into emulation. 6.) Stand on the shoulders of giants. 7.) Forgive yourself and forgive others. 8.) Fall in love with Fate. 9.) Always practice courage, temperance, and humor. 10.) Remember, the obstacle is the path.
1: Lessons. Wolf hunt sheep. Sheep becomes wolf. 2: It's not that "easy is the problem". It's that people choose comfort over the honest harder roads. Embrace the challenge. Things become easier the more this is done. Funny how that works. 3: Strict. Firm. Harsh. Direct. Even ruthless. Upfront honest monster. We''re all monsters. Those thinking they're not just don't know it yet. 4: Basically the bolder up the hill. Playing forever. Lucky bugger. 5: Emulation can backfire. Memes. The DNA of the soul. People often learn the weaker lessons. Moon and Raiden in Metal Gear will cover this concept well. Along with Bladwolf (in codec talks). It's more about habits. "We are what we repeatedly do." If you keep lying to yourself from habit, you live that lie. Commit to honesty (ACTUALLY commit to hoenesty at ANY cost) and you'll do it. Cowards won't. For they are friends to lies. 6: Let's not make this about something it's not. It would be more accurate to say "Leaders lead by example". Inspire. Leading by example gets others to follow. 7: Guilt is a wasted emotion. For those that have high willpower and conviction. For those that are still learning it clues people in. You can only be sorry if you done wrong somehow. Unless you ask a question. In which case don't be sorry for trying to learn. 9: Humor can backfire. Dishonest sarcasm. Don't NEED humor. Can laugh at honest situations. Even serious volatile ones. Enjoy it. But it's less "I laugh at you" and more "genuine joy". Courage is key. Vid states "Desire". I disagree with this. I think the problem is "Desperation". Not "desire". For no one acts without self interest. You can only do something if you WANT to do it in other words. 10: Bolder. Covered that already.
this is beautiful. I will try and apply all of these to my daily life. Im 14, so I hope me practicing this will get me in a better way when im an adult.
Stoic is one thing. Conviction is another. No one acts without self interest. The problem isn't "desire". it's "Desperation". Observation and patience is key. Embrace "flow".
I'm needing to re-learn these concepts and ground myself again as I have been really angry and upset lately. My gf and I recently broke up and she's blocked me so i have all these things to say and all of these feelings and nothing to do with them. I need to get through it and re-centre myself 🙏
I'm sorry to hear you are having difficult times. *hug* Something that has helped me with similar troubles has been taking walks and letter writing. I talk to myself as I walk and discuss all of what I am feeling. Then, I begin to plan on how I will recover. This helps almost every time. Letter writing or journaling has been very useful and therapeutic for me, too. I pour everything out and then throw away the letter or keep it to read later, knowing I will feel different as time elapses. Best wishes to you, friend. This, too, shall pass.

I found this video on applying stoic principles to be incredibly enlightening. The discussion on resilience, emotional control, and the importance of self-reflection offered a lot of valuable insights. I have a daily goals sheet where I write down the date and my daily goal for that day that will build my character. I didn't realize I was already implementing stoic principles into my life every day for many years now until I saw this video.
Engaging and insightful! Loved the exploration of Stoic principles for maintaining tranquility. The Stoic temperance shines through each lesson. Great video, looking forward to more wisdom-sharing content!
Interesting. I will try to be calmer. However, I have been a concerned person many times in my life. For instance ,a friend did not show up to teach his class and I became very concerned and inquired with others if maybe he had been in an accident but nobody cared at all. Out of everyone I was the only student worried for his safety. That was the only time I got a thank you from him and a red heart. Funny how we can remember things. Then I was soon discarded like a piece of garbage along the road. I may try to journal about that.
I have a gratitude journal I do this first thing every morning. I watch these videos because I’m fascinated with the Greek culture but don’t know much about it different perspectives are always good .
Strive to be calm and you´ll live in internal turmoil. Apply for temperance, and temperance will never let you in. The Universe of the mind may seem paradoxical but after deep thinking (not looking for external answers), you discover the rules that regulate your maker, i.e. Mind.
