- Use tiny drops of super glue and a gentle sanding with 220 or 320 grit sandpaper to repair cat scratches or claw punctures on real leather. There is no better nor easier process! Use a flexible filler for more substantial damage (think shredded scratching post) or fake leathers and vinyl. Learn more here: rubnrestore.com/how-to/repair...

PLEASE DO NOT DECLAW YOUR FELINE! This procedure is amputation of the bone up to the last knuckle, not mere removal of the nail. It's banned in many countries and opposed by the Humane Society and American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Declawing can make a cat less likely to use the litter box or more likely to bite. Train your cat with a spray bottle of water (set on shoot-to-soak), pheromone sprays, and a scratching post where the activity is permitted. You can also safely trim their claws with pet nail clippers.

Seeking change - Loaned out my couch - Neighbor's cat made 100+ claw marks - nearly all can be tucked in - superglued - sanded. One dime size hole and one 10 mm slice nearby (poor mouse) need denim substrate. Notice (after gluing in the denim substrate) you glue joined halves with a thin line of glue. Then sand. Fun begins adding filler (if needed with more sanding when dry) - then applying RubnRestore color!! Clear Coat!! Can't wait!!! Amazing!! Repairs made 3 years ago on the front edge of the leather couch - make it seem brand new - there were 5 to 6 deep 4" tears in the leather - magically gone. Vanished!!! Wiped away with RubnRestore!!! I watch this couch like a hawk. Musicians I work with all love this couch!! Super Thanks!!!
Clever. Your verbal instructions and visuals are very helpful. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.
That's frigging amazing!
I’m excited to see these videos! I’m hoping the used chair I bought is really leather. Will be reading the tag that is underneath it.
@Rub 'n Restore, Inc. - thank you for your reply.
Thank you

What dye can be used? Do you have to use a dye that is meant for already-finished leather?? I'm having a hard time finding any dye that isn't meant for unfinished leather.
Would this technique work on leather shoes too?
Can you use this system to repair cat scratches on vinyl?
I have a lot of cracking, cat scratches and a tear in a section of a chaise lounge where our feet sit, so I think it's also just damage from wear and tear and dirt and oils over the years,.
The leather is quite damaged though, so would you recommend flexible filler like you use in your "repairing a hole" video and just lather it on to fill up the scratches?
I'm concerned super glue would crack out or not work well with so much cracking and scratches. Also is the flexible filler actually a long term fix as it is made out to be?
Thanks for your videos, they're great.
1:03 I swear that's what I heard at the bank robbery today 😁
Wow great jub
That looks really great, too bad you cant use this method with faux leather though. I held on to some hope when you gave Cuppy Cake your 10+ minute link to her solution. Which was actually not a solution at all. It too is only effective for genuine leather, not to mention that it is a repair on a much larger scale. And not just a small cat scratch and a few gouges as shown in the above video. I haven't found a singe small scale solution to fixing some cat claw gouges on faux leather. If anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate it. And NO there is no way in heck I'm giving up my cat. For now I just keep a folded throw over my ottoman when not in use, It's actually really sharp looking trunk (ottoman) with buckles and locks and is why I don't really like to cover it, unless we have guests.
I have a few worn spots on the seat of a used sofa I purchased. No tears at all but it's a buttercream color so the scratches are deeper what do u reccomend
If you can feel the damage, it would benefit from filler. More info and video here: www.rubnrestore.com/how-to/leather-filler-repair/ Otherwise color will correct it. Here's how to match the buttercream: www.rubnrestore.com/how-to/match-color-leather-vinyl/
How are you going to touch the super glue like that ?!
does this work for vinyl?
I love your videos, and you are so beautiful to look at while watching.
would this work on faux leather couches. I barely purchased a couch two days ago. my cat tried using the side as a scratching post. well they are moving out to my grandma's house a hour away. I'd love to fix it. please help
got rid of your cat for scratching instead of teaching it otherwise? damn glad you didnt keep it
My ass might be saved after all!!
scrappy Queen I was thinking that my cat's ass might be saved after all 😂
Hey I have red leather but idk what it's called what supplies do I need ?
The scratches from my cat are mainly when he tries to jump and sit next to us
So their small not very big
Amazing vid thanks for saving my moms couch from my cat ha
Can I use this method on bonded leather?
***** I only have a handful of tiny pinhead-sized surface holes. None of them penetrated the backing fabric. My ivory couch is less than a week old, and I want to repair the minor damage before it becomes a major issue. I put caps on my kitties claws which seem to be working, so were shouldn't be getting many new holes after this. They weren't actually clawing the couch- just jumping on and off of it with a little too much spring in their step! Thoughts?
***** Thank you tons! I am headed to buy the Dynaflex right now! Can I use Rub 'n Restore dye on bonded leather if I do end up needing to color the repairs?
+C. Green I'm having the EXACT same problem now. All the cat scratch repair kits and tutorials I'm seeing are for areas where the cat has gone crazy and torn the couch up, but I just have a handful of tiny, thin (but visible) scratches on our NEW (PU/bonded leather) couch and I want to repair them before they get worse. What did you end up doing? Did it work?
+Dena Hi Dena, I used Dynaflex. It did work, but those areas now get dirty very easily and don't clean up very well. Superglue might have been a better choice. I have stopped filling the holes- It's been a year and there are now too many to count. I've resigned myself to damage control/living with them. Soft Claws help a LOT if your kitty will tolerate them. Amazon has the best price. I've tried several knock-off brands which were all a waste of money. I've also put cat shelves on my walls so the kitties have a place of their own to hang out. They spend a lot less time on the sofa now. I'll never buy bonded leather again!
WOW, LOOKS.LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED
did you kill the cat?
If you’d wait for the super glue to dry you wouldn’t have plucked it back up sanding.
lmaoooo
Nice work. You're cute.
my solution is to get rid of the cat first and then repair so it does not happen again.
That's exactly the solution I came up with as well. That is why I am getting rid of our cats before they completely ruin our brand new couch.
rafaelg45 or you could just buy them some cat scratchers so they can be free to use their natural instincts.
no, people like her and puppycake ... the cats are better off someplace... anyplace else.
Can't believe there is so materialistic people.
If someone prioritizes their materials over their pets, then they are not responsible enough to be pet owners in the first place.
My little shit scratched the fuck out of my $2000 sofa. She will soon be evicted
I’m just getting rid of the cat 😠 I can’t stand how she is just destroying my things smh I’ve bought everything that a cat could ever want and she still fucking with my shit.
