Just bought this game today. I played back when it first released on console. I loved it despite the jank. I played it with a friend for HOURS. We refurbished an old abandoned house and over time we were growing crops and trees and had just gotten to concrete.

I'm new, I've been checking reddit for info about weapon viability and a lot of people seem to dislike the machete, so I'm surprised you rate it that high. That said, when I found one I loved the feel of it.
I understand why people don't like blade, But the context that blades come into games very early via bone knife, it's ability to place bleeds, and those bleeds putting a 10% slow on mobs with 1 perk point at level 1, it's super strong.
Later in the game blade falls off, but later in the game you should be using ak47's with extended clips and a sniper rifle and not be in melee range to begin with
In the beginning there is no penalty for dying. No need to run in panic mode. Learn to fight - attack every zombie you see. You don't have much to loose at the start!
The club is okay and simple to use, the stone spear is better, but you must be a little better at aiming. The bone knife uses less stamina and makes it easy to kill zombies but it needs some exercice because of the shorter range.
First task after the introduction, when the trader is uncovered for new players: invest 1 Point in the cooking skill - strength tree - so you find more food and drink items.
Find smaler houses - don't enter buildings with more then 2 red skulls if you are not prepared to die - look from outside where the kitchen is, enter the kichen you can use your axe to get in, find food and look for a cooking pot and maybe a grill.
Grab every birds nest - the eggs are a welcome food and arrows are nice, if you don't like playing with the bow you can sell them.
Cut EVERY stump - honey is needed if you get an infection - and you will get a lot of infections while you are new to the game.
Grab every garbage on your way to the trader - most things you can sell! Sometimes you find realy useful things.
Relax and have FUN!
The only thing id comment on from this comment is that I think a lot of the game is avoiding death and just trying to keep deaths sacred is going to increase longevity of a player. To each their own obviously im not trying to talk crap, but its just I feel every death after your first one cheapens the entire experience
@@OjamaGerrits7DaysToDie The whole game is about killing zombies. It's much easier to learn the timing and distance of the different weapons early in the wild and not the hard way while on quest when you loose the quest and get death penalties if you die.

This game feels like I'm constantly being nagged whilst dodging teeth all while I'm thirsty and starving, too hot then too cold.

That's what I'm saying lol. I got some criticism about how I made the guide too hard-core or too much of a speed run but I feel like getting you guys a really optimized start to BREATHE is only gonna help ya in the long run lol.

theres no need to play like your speed running, learn the fight patterns, loot some stuff and gather resourceses, your making the game sound very terrifying and like its all a rush or lose

My husband and i used to play this back when it first got on steam and when we loaded in after the full release we were so confused.
Wheres all the stuff? Wheres all the skills to buy and actual recipes? They literally stripped this game of everything that kept people actually busy playing it. Now they want me to role play basically to make the gameplay have meaning? Sounds kinda dumb lol im really upset about the water. Literally no excuse for removing empty jars and the ability to drink from natural water sources. Cant claim to be a survival game then remove natural survival amenities if you ask me.
They made the game less immersive but gave it better graphics...whoopie. not theres no story and you have to "make the game worth it", is that not why i paid money for it to begin with?
