It's all fun and games... until it's your turn to police up the brass.

Ahh I remember this day. I think it was the day after I tore my meniscus but I chose to suck it up since we were so close to graduation. Sprinting in those iotvs carrying a 240 to catch trans in time was fun. Osut war stories

Heavy weapons is a familiarization, the 249 and 240 do have qualifications now in 22 weeks and also the M4 , the primary weapon system they use, they go through many weeks of marksmanship and advanced marksmanship now.

@@abramlira9320 you should have about a week for machine guns. M4s you’re gonna shoot for like 3-4 weeks straight non stop live rounds and then blanks for all your field events. Shooting is the most fun thing you’ll do there

Jesus christ the biggest waste of time in basic is crew served weapons training if the army implemented moving targets to rifle qual then why dont they eliminates crew served weapons like 50 mk19 240b and the saw i think its a waste of time honestly time that can be used for something more important like team building, hand to hand combat training and more shooting time with the m16 or m4.

You couldn’t be more off base, they do have a new 4 point qual now, they also do shoot moving targets in advanced marksmanship. Considering my Soldiers now, their main weapon systems are 240 and .50 cal on trucks currently, how do you feel it is less important to know about the most causality producing weapon? The weapons squad is more important than basic M4 qual...My soldiers I had during basic shot expert on M4 , literally 48 out of 58 of them, so not sure how much more training you think they truly need,

That's where your wrong, as my drill sergeant once said " If you're close enough for hand to hand, you fucked up. " Even with hand to hand combat training it's mainly subduing an enemy not killing him, a bayonet or hand to hand fight is too unpredictable and the enemy will not fight with honor or care on how he wins, so what good will it do to learn how to struggle on the ground instead of familiarizing ourselves with powerful weapon systems that have saved more troops than a fist will, or their effective target range, maintenance, shooting, and assembly?

This video is infantry OSUT. These weapons are done during the "AIT" portion of infantry training. Not a waste of time at all as these soldiers will actually be using these weapons.
