    I have recently upgraded to the MK2, the video is incorrect about the TRRS for online meetings, because there isn't a useful setting for the "STREAMING OUT" switch. If set to "DRY CH1-2" the online and phone participants can't hear each other (either direction). If set to "INPUT MIX" the online participants can hear the phone caller, but the phone caller can't hear the online participants. If set to "LOOPBACK" both online and phone can hear each other, but the online participants gets ... loopback (hear themselves/echo).

    I have been using it daily since it came out (2 years ago), The only think I think it was a downgrade is the build quality which is not bad at all, but the older one felt beefer, I suppose they made it lighter for people who move it around.
    Other than that, it's just an amazing interface, I use it for recording music, gaming and daily PC usage. Even so, here I just understood the AUX port, didn't know I could also output the mic through it, now it became better because I could now use it as a pseudo interface for my telework laptop, without having to disconnected from my main PC.
    I've also used it with my iPhone and it works perfectly!

    A few other notes:
    * The MK1 requires Windows 7 or later; the MK2 is Windows 10 or later.
    * The MK1 uses a program called AG DSP Controller to manage comp., EQ., etc. MK2 uses AG Controller. It copies the interface from the mobile app, which is crunched for phone screens but needlessly so for desktops. Most egregiously, you can't view Mic 1 and 2's EQ settings at the same time like you can on AG DSP Controller due to the mandatory portrait view.
    * 2:28 Also, a curious note about mute: It doesn't work in "DRY 1-2" (DRY bypasses level setting, which is useful, but it also bypasses mute, which is just a binary setting).
    (The Yamaha MG10XU and AG06 MK1 are the only even pro-sumer pieces of gear to pass through my grasp, so this is the extent of my wheelhouse, so to speak. Thanks for the overview!)

      Does that mean you don't get the the full interface of the AG DSP Controller app? If so, that really sucks. In fact, it would be a deal breaker for me.

    • @Acts19quiz
      @Acts19quiz 2 місяці тому

      @@piscesman54 Not the full *visual* interface. Feature wise, you're not missing out on anything. However, you can only view one channel's settings at a time. If you're frequently changing both channels at the same time, or trying to compare settings between the two, it makes for more back-and-forth between tabs to get things set. The new PC app seems like it was ported over from the phone, with a slimmer portrait frame (as opposed to landscape).

    • @piscesman54

      @@Acts19quiz Thanks a lot for that breakdown. Seems a bit cumbersome. Do you happen to know whether the MKII can be used with the DSP app of the previous series?

    • @Acts19quiz
      @Acts19quiz 2 місяці тому +1

      @@piscesman54 I've never tried, but Yamaha is pretty clear in stating that Yamaha DSP (the old program) is incompatible with the MkII.
      Now, to muddy the water a bit: There is a Yamaha AG08, which does actually include a landscape version of the new program with both channels displayed at the same time. However, the downside there is that while the AG08 does come with extra features (like a full LED level meter, FX knobs, faders, soundpad, two headphone outputs, and more loopback options for more channels), you go from $190 for AG03 MkII, to $230 for AG06 MkII, to $630 for AG08. At that price, you jump from a very competitive price for the AG06 to inviting comparisons to RodeCASTER Duo ($500), RodeCASTER Pro II ($700), Gigcaster 5 ($470), and Gigcaster 8 ($700). Still with only two mic preamps.
      You also lose Dry Mode (super convenient for UA-cam recording), and go from a maximum 192 kHz recording sample rate for AG03/AG06 to 48 kHz for AG08. For whatever that means to you.
      And Yamaha is also specific about the AG08 version of the new program not being compatible with the AG03/AG06 MkII.

      @@Acts19quiz Wow! You really know your stuff. Really appreciate this information. It's been invaluable to me.
      Though it's obvious that the ag series is geared more toward live streaming (which I don't do), I think it performs very well as standard recording interface. Good preamps, and what I like the most about it is the capability to monitor your performance with full processing without recording the processed signal, thus eliminating latency issues altogether. The included SP reverb is one of the best reverbs I've ever heard, and you have full control of it.
      I don't understand why nobody else is coming up with something like that. Most small frame mixer/interfaces just give you 2 band analog EQ and a bank of preset fx.
      And even some great interfaces, like the Audients, come with software for setting up monitor mixes, but no DSP at all. That makes no sense to me. Who records a vocal with completely dry monitoring?

    Great review! The 48v applying to both - if its a condenser that requires 48v and a dynamic that doesnt, would it spoil the dynamic mic?

    Great review. Does the Mix-Minus send the mixer output back to caller on the TRRS except the caller’s voice?
    Is so, that would be awesome. Cheers Bob

    Anyone knows if it is possible to use the ag06 mk2 with iPad Pro and inbuild speakers?

  • @nicolassoto1605

    The problem with the MK2 is its software, when you save the options they are not saved, and whenever you start the software the options appear as default, and it does not let you load the saved options

      I would say so. The MG10XU or ProFx10v3+ are both great options. The Mackie has more flexibility with Bluetooth and USB options.

And is it possible to to an effects send /return (using this as a pre-amp to connect a mic pre-amp, sending it to pedals, and then back into the device for recording?) Thanks os much for your help!
