i got to test this board. it is fucking amazing. i opted into the bsod instead for the more freeride focused setup. but this board absolutely rips aswell. highly recommend it

Great review Tj, as a DOA rider, I completely agree with everything. Doesn't do well in power but it's a resort destroyer. Carves great with solid sharp edges, and has a ton of pop on jumps. Definitely not a beginner board because it's stiff and aggressive.
Do you think is better than the ride shadowban, Capita OSL and Raygun pop?
@@arlokkkk I can't speak for any of those boards. Try to demo/rent them at a shop if possible. Or just go with whatever TJ says, he's pretty on point.

@@arlokkkk yeah, setting the stance back will help for sure. For resort powder, I think you’d be alright sometimes but it definitely wouldn’t be my go to.

You've absolutely hit the nail on the head in this review! I bought it last season and was surprised how aggressive it is at first compared to what people were saying in other reviews. Nonetheless, I absolutely love this board and would recommend it to anyone with a bit of experience, it's pretty much my go-to board, unless it's deep or I want to play around a bit more
I just bought it but after watching this review I kinda regret it. I was between doa, Capita OSL and K2 Raygun pop(it was only 300$). I'm been riding a skatebanana for like 13 years occasionally I want to improve and learn to ride a camber board. I hope I like it and don't get too many edges.
@@arlokkkk yo im an intermediate rider making this my 2nd season this winter. I bought this board about a few weeks ago and only been able to use it a couple times(been busy and can't find a time to go rip the slopes) but this board is amazing! Im riding a 152 and this board did wonders for me. I haven't caught any edges yet but compared to last season, my heel and toe carves felt amazing and i was able to get more lower to the ground. it was kinda hard for me to do tail butter and kinda had to position myself way back so i could bend the board and get that flex. talking about flex, this board felt good doing my ollies and u get that spring action. i was able to do bs and fs 180's with ease and even almost landed a tamedog! this board does feel aggressive and it feels amazing hitting sidehits. I haven't hit the park yet but I will soon so im excited
@@steezy1692 Thanks for the feedback man! I also got a 152 one. I didn't buy the bindings yet and I might keep my old Burton Mission bindings which still in good shape. What binding did you get for it? Yea man, so the reason I got this board is more for the spring action for ollies and sidehits air. My old board is a rocker board so It doesn't get air height. @@arlokkkk Yea man no problem! haha no this is just a pfp I like but i do drive a 280zx in mint condition! For my bindings, I got the new union ultra this season so my landings are soft when im hitting air which is why i got it. I’m trying to progress on hitting bigger jumps and DOA is going to be my new daily driver! the only downside about this board for me is the flex making it harder for me to learn butter tricks. but overall, the board has that nice aggressive feel to it when you really put in the work and have fun. If hitting air and doing ollies is what you’re trying to go for then I think you will definitely enjoy it! I’m still deciding wether if im going to get me another board with softer flex so I can learn how to do all that butter tricks or not. but yeah man, whenever you get the chance to ride the DOA, let me know how it goes for u!
@@steezy1692 Nice! I got a 98 s14 mint too. The Union Ultra is the most dampening for landing? I was looking for the atlas or strata, or even the force which has more foam. The atlas is not as dampening but the rubber is good for removing the board vibrations so I'm not sure yet. Also, I was thinking in the burton cartels too. Yea man, the doa will not be butter or jib friendly due to mid to stiff flex. Can't wait to try it out and see how it likes to catapult me on jumps. I'm also trying to step up the game to hit bigger jumps from mid jumps. Since you talked about butter, I should keep my skatebanana to learn butters and jibs. Have you thought of getting the ride shadowban? it has a soft flex and it's a directional twin board which will also be good for the deep powder days. The doa is horrible for powder. Do you ride on northeast as well? Thanks again!
I currently ride this board, its the best board I've ridden for all mountain riding, carving and side hits. I would highly recommend!

I had for 4 years the Capita DOA and switched to a Bataleon Goliath, which I find less playful.
I was thinking of going back to the Capita DOA for the next season but now that I see the SuperDoa I'm curious, is it very different from the Goliath? I think they seem to be just as stable but the SuperDoa delivers a friendlier flex or I'm wrong?

hey man, i'm looking for an intermediate board. i can carve at an intermediate level and go off small jumps, but i'd like to learn to use the mountain as a park. not always bombing, but hitting small side jumps, learning to do ground tricks, maybe going into the park to hit a low box. i'm old, 40+, so i'm looking for a do it all board. i currently ride an NS proto ct from 2011. what do you think? capita doa, mercury, or something like a ride shadowban? or even an NS protosynthesis?
TJ, my stratas won’t let me mount my bindings centered on to this board. How did you mount your bindings? Are u centered? I currently have unions mini disks.

I can't decide if I want the doa or the murcery, I use union force bindings. I mostly like to go fast down the groomers with the odd side hit. Dont know how to butter yet but I want to start learning them next season

The doa used to be one of my favorite boards im a lil sad capita started making stiffer boards but they are still amazing all mountain boards

TJ is the man! I love capita but I think im the only person who rode this board last year for a few days and thought this board is way overhyped. It's not a bad board but def not my fave in capitas line. But really cool that we have so many choices of snowboard shapes
It's definitely a solid do-it-all twin for most people that have been riding a while, and of course its reputation attracts a lot of people to it. But I agree there are definitely many other great snowboards out there as well, which are your favorite on Capitas line? mine are probably the Super DOA and Navigator
@@BoardArchive Def want to try the navigator as ive heard great things about it. I tried the demo last year of the Indoor survival and honestly, I felt like it was more stable and could rail a turn better than the doa. just me though! Love your reviews keep doing the thing!
@@_ChrisUpton same dude. It’s way to rockered and super squirrelly. Demoed it a few years back but growing up on camber, if you’re good enough to ride camber it feels way better on everything more pop too

hey, TJ. I have a 2018 DOA and i love it. I wanna get this year's edition HOWEVER i stumbled upon the Capita Outsiders and im now conflicted which one i should get.

I ride the outsiders and I love it. not sure what's the difference between outsiders and DOA. seems similar
So it looks like the outsiders board is
- outsider is more park focused that all mountain.
But I am finding different things on this right now.

hey man I have a question ,why don't they make snowboards wider because whenever I go to buy shoes I have a size 12 but everyone in the store only says 11 to 12 is the most popular size ,why have such a narrow snowboard you clip your your toes? have a good one👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Bigfoot's miss the boat on boards, I have 12.5-13 feet so I have to find boards with a 268+ waist width to keep my toes out of the snow. Try the ride warpig, the 157 has a 277ww.

Hey TJ, great video as always. I just grabbed DOA myself, it will be my first board so looking forward to test it out this winter in Austria as well. The only thing I am not 100% sure about is the size. I went for 161W as I am quite massive - 100 kg and 185 cm with boot size 46 1/3 - USA 11.5. Do you think that was good move? As you said this board is narrow and I would prefer to avoid heels or toes sticking out while bombing it down the slope. Thanks for any insight!

I'm 91 kg (200 lbs) and same height as you. I opted for the same board size and can say that I have not had any issues with it. I absolutely love it. I've got size 12.5 feet and haven't had any toe or heel drag.

I’m a lanky guy but I’m 6ft I have a 11.5 boot i ride 156w’s and the waist width of this 161w is actually really good pretty close to my 159 spring break pt I don’t see you having any problems we actually just picked out this board for one of my buddy’s similar build to you

Super DOA is dope! Much stiffer torsionally, and a great all-mtn/freestyle choice
@@BoardArchive Yeah! Love that board, buddy rides one, borrowed it for few laps last year. Wish it had slight set back but i can always move bindings off center.
How much riding should you get between wax's? How often is often haha
I'd say around 3-5 days on the mountain, or if you notice the board glide change or dry spots on the base. I try to wax every 3 days

Totally agree, great all around board, amazing pop for flat/jumps but its deffinatly a little stiff for butters and stuff making it a little harder in park situations sometimes.
What do you think about using on powder?

23 model is way way softer unfortunately.

@@federikx77 they have changed the core. It made board much much softer. Buttering is extra easy and flex point has been moved way back closer to inserts.
It also vibrates more than 22 model (as every soft board). So it's basically a VERY different board than previous models. If you enjoyed previous DOAs as these middle of the road flex - it's not the story this year.

What was your previous board? Do you think an intermediate rider could use it? I've been riding for 13 years but just occasionally like 5 times a season. But the problem is that the board that I'm using is a very mellow one and has a rocker V shape so is very different than the DOA.
@@arlokkkk Oh dude, you'll be fine! It will take a few laps to get used to the Camber but I think this would be a good transition from rocker to Camber... Very versatile and actually good at speed surprisingly!
My previous board was a Burton Custom, great board for all mountain but not great for the park... the DOA is one of the best do it all boards 🙌 but keep that rocker for lazy days where you just wanna goof around and butter everything.. 🧈 😜

Question about the DOA, maybe some other DOA riders could help me on this as well.
I currently ride a 154 at 200 lbs 5’7”. I like more of a wider stance when squating and have been fiddling with the widths for 10+ days on hill. I honestly cant seem to get the right fit and not sure where to go.
I currently have it set to 12 -12 with the front binding on centered referenced point and the back binding one setting farther than the reference point. Not sure if I need to be symmetrical? When I put the bindings on ref points its too narrow. Love carving but I cant ollie or do jumps. If I put the bindings one set further from ref point I cant carve but jumps and ollies feel a lot better. So atm I leave it to front on ref and back binding one further from ref. Its an alright set up but not sure where I should go from here. It never feels perfect. Would love some help and advice.
You might be experiencing toe drag depending on boot size. I’m 6ft 145 pounds with 11.5 boot with a 15 degree duck stance. I set my stance as 21.5 centered on the board because of my height and size boot. I ride between a 156 and 160 and usually a wide board any size over a 10.5 boot you should look at a wide option but your weight should choose your board to be honest. As for ollies your probably not engaging correctly or not centered on the board making it more difficult
First year DOA rider. And tan into the same problem bruv. Running the 23 DOA in a 156 And all I can tell you, is use a tape measure to check your stance. The “center” highlights/markings around the bolts, they are NOT center on mine. You would think if anything they would set the stance toward the back if anything (which makes little sense because it’s a twin) but after measuring multiple times, the bolts are set farther towards the NOSE. Weird right? So I had to get a little technical with the measuring to make sure my stance was actually centered. Luckily UNION strats give so much customization in the plates.
To clarify: measure from dead center nose to dead center of front binding plate. And same goes for the tail and back binding. If that makes sense.
Hi all. Looking for some advice here. Im 5’11(180cm) and 180lb to 185lb-ish, US 10. Would you recommend me getting the 156 158 or 157W? I am interested in the wide option simply because I like the blue version over the red and blue fits my outfit more😂.
What’s your foot size? I am 175-180ish pounds. 6’2” and my boot size is 13. I got a 159 wide. It’s the only board I’ve ever ridden that I don’t suffer from toe drag on. I really like it. I also liked the blue better than the orange so it’s a win lol
My bad, did not see the size 10. I would go to a shop and get fitted. Too much extra space between your foot and the edges of the board could cause issues with control

I am torn between this or the bataleon evil twin. Want something with a little softer flex, but not so soft where it’s super compromising like the disaster you reviewed. Want to be able to progress on butters, presses, and small-medium jumps but also take anywhere on the mountain.

Apparently they've softened it up heaps in 23. Now The super DOA has the stiffness of the older versions.

Outsiders is way better
This board is mediocre at best. The sidecut is horrible. I dont care if its freestyle focused, if it can't carve right its not worth the $. Specially this steep of the price tag.
Most overrated board of all time thanks to media hype. So many better boards that do the job better
