- As Rinse FM reaches it's 18th Birthday we track down some of the people who have been around since the very beginning as well as the people who have contributed to making the station what it is today. We travelled to renowned Rinse landmarks to conjure up nostalgic memories with some of the original pioneers of Rinse FM.
In a series of short films in the run up to the Rinse 18th birthday weekend, we document key moments of our history. We pay homage to artists who have collectively shaped and influenced the UK music scene. From Lady ST and Uncle Dugs reminiscing on their very first years at Rinse FM, to DJ Slimzee's fourth-floor ASBO and we take you on a first hand experience into our quest for an FM licence.
We explore the musical, cultural and social impact that Rinse FM has made not just in London but globally.

we used to drive down from southend plot up near lock in. wudnt change it for the world like slimzee says it was the buzz nowdays everything at ppls fingertips naaa 90s/2000s banging times

We used to have a pirate station in Bristol in the early 90's which moved from base to base,every Sunday, where we played everything from Punk through Rockabilly and into dance music. We had the flat raided and lost a great deal of rare vinyl.
But what a great way to go! A lot of respect has to be given to the guys that set up the gear and understand the technical stuff, not just the DJ's . So if you know how to wire up some cables and sort out some frequencies, as well as social media, then why not?
Respect for this pioneering work. Using large satellite dish on a tall block one can transmit with car dadoo fm modulator. Rinses leading underground station
