I love seeing bayverse design elements still being used in the newer films. Like ROTB prime, it had bits of the og trilogy look like the face, truck eyebrows on the chest, silver hands, and energon blades and axe. I think ROTB prime is the best live action prime design because of the mix of g1 and bayverse deisgn elements
Bumble bee’s is better imo so much more colorful and filled out, to me rotb prime looks like someone grabbed him from the gut/abdomen and squeezed him so tight he’s now half dead, which is why his colors are now so desaturated and lifeless.

The old designs will always be awesome to me, but the more G1 looking live action designs are my favorite. They made them still look somewhat believable and made them all distinguishable. Even the slight changes in the ROTB designs still look great after now seeing them in 4k.
Bayverse design is indeed realistic, a huge planet that can still sustain life and existing for billion of years will make the species evolved till reaching the potential of being mechanical indicating it's evolution. Returning to it being a huge planet, bigger than Earth means they look differently when they were fleshes and less humanoid unlike G1 they are mostly inspired by human form which is really unrealistic interms of science evolution.
Transformers 2007-2009 is masterpiece this people never realized how cool is the design it look realistic and looks complicated I appreciate his ideas and creativity bayverse separate the branche of boxy transformers to another level so people won’t get bored
Just gonna say it right now, the newer films are NOT tied to the bay films, despite what lorenzo says, the bee movie and rise of the beasts are a reboot. That is why optimus does not arrive as a proto form in bumblebee and is not a proto form on cybertron. Just wanted to clear this up
I still like the realistic/complex approach Bay did to the Transformers design. The main issue with Bay is that Optimus is the only robot that take inspiration from his G1 design. Every other robots got completely resdesigned, what's worse is that almost all decepticons got this demonic/monstrous looks (fangs, pointy features). If every Transformers in Bayverse were inspired by their G1 design, it would've been wayy better. I still like Travis Knight's approach on certain charcters like Starscream, Shatter, Arcee and Dreadwing but I really don't like the boxy design for most of the bots. I still think Bayverse Optimus has a much better design compared to the Optimus in Bumblebee movie. The ROTB Optimus got even a worse design IMO, I like the design of Mirage and all of the Beasts the most. Also, Bay set up the lore that the Transformers were all originally grey back on Cybertron and only by scanning earth vehicle that they adopt a new color. I love that Travis Knight retcon this lore and set up that the Transformers have their own unique color scheme and scanning a new vehicle does not affect their color.
@@a_tf_guy121 Yeah... I always think about that one shot in Peru where they have all the maximal together, and Optimus's lower legs are so thick that is makes him look short and stumpy, he looks malleable, like you could smack him with a hammer and it'd dent him.
Not gonna lie Optimus was pretty lame in Rise of the Beasts. I miss when Optimus went beast mode on his enemies. People say he's a psycho but he's actually the one dealing with the psychos. The Decepticons are way more ruthless and violent than Optimus Prime in the Bayverse.
He didn’t have to rip megatron’s head off for no reason in the dotm, Megs had literally proposed a truce lmao Bayverse optimus was a bit of a psycho, but that’s understandable when you’re in a war that has been going on for millions of years.

Additionally, even though action takes a backseat in BB and RotB, they have some of the slickest, most stylized fights... That you can actually see! Meanwhile, Bay directs some of the messiest, clunkiest action in blockbusters. Also, certain comics referred to Optimus' 2007 protoform as his Cybertronian mode. Cybertronian modes and protoforms are two different things. It's not inconceivable that he could look like that in BB, especially given how many continuity issues Bay's films have themselves.
I would say that this new team for Bumblebee and ROTB is still getting a handle on transforming, and I’m hoping that they’ll be a lot better in the next movie. Same with the writing.
However, Despite this was kinda cute, it lead to one of the WORST tropes in Modern Transformers Media, the Infamous EVERGREEN DESIGNS *before John Warden came in table, We had projects like the Unicron Trilogy, the Aligned Continuity, the IDW comics, etc. Where the designs wete bastly different, to the point that sometimes Optimus had Red Eyes while Megatron Had Blue Eyes* Unfurtunately since John Warner became Branding Manager we only have Monotone G1 Design Copy & Pasted in everywhere, It was cute at first but know is Tiring, & the worst part us that he's doing now the SAME thing with Power Rangers 😑
Yeah, that's why I didn't really mind Michael Bays redesigns. If other stories are allowed to change up the looks then I think Micheal should get a pass.
The first 3 bay movies were some of the most pleasing movies for me. I love the G1 designs, they're cool and all, but when almost every iteration after G1 till the Bayverse tries to copy that G1 look, it gets old and seems like a recycled idea. The G1 theme in the newer movies are amazing I'm not gonna lie, but it was nice to see other designs being implemented onto the transformers. Michael Bay outdid himself with the robot designs, I feel like they represent how a transformer would actually look like with all the parts moving and shifting, and still being visible in robot mode. While the last 2 movies from Michael Bay were...a turn. The first 3 for me are the sweet spot. Even when the robots transform quickly, they still have enough detail to make it fluid (for example, Sentinel Prime running away after killing Ironhide).
Freightliner FLT is also an american truck, but as you said it's cabover unlike Michael Bay's Peterbilt and Western Star trucks which have are long-nose trucks
They don’t make it clear but Micheal Bay states that they all take on their “EndoSkeleton” form on Cybertron. Whether or not they have a distinct look on cybertron apart from their endoskeleton look is unknown to me. Maybe there’s a comic that explains it.
I have been a transformers fan since Bayverse, but as much as I still cherish the bay designs of my childhood, I also love the new reboot movie designs because they were great translations from G1 to live action
The Bumblebee and ROTB transformations were simpler, but at least (for some of them), you can see where different parts go and how they move. Specifically I'm thinking of Optimus in ROTB (where he transforms same as his G1 toy), and Blitzwing in Bumblebee, where his nose folds down, revealing his head (similar to the seeker G1 toys that he resembles). The Bay transformations were small pieces folding and shifting all over the place.
Idgaf I loved Michael Bay's films bc they were my first introduction to Transformers They do action well Better than most hollywood movies I recognize its shortcomings ofc But i love them for what they did offer
They are not better than most Hollywood films 😂 I love bayformers too, it introduced me to the franchise, but they are not good movies, they are fun, but not well written, except 07 that one still holds up really well
Something i wanna add here is that bumblebee was meant to be prequel, but after the failure of the last knight they kind of changed some aspects to bumblebee that break ties with the bay films. Travis knight didnt really give a clear statement on whether its a prequel or a reboot, until rise of the beasts came out when caple jr now said its a reboot, twice.
I think the bayverse designs (particularly optimus) while a bit too complex at first, were readable as transforming from vehicles in the first three films. Then Age of Extinction happened and I felt that was way too much. You can barely tell he transformed from a truck. They look too smooth and human instead of alien and angular. It's the same problem I had with Iron Man's armor evolution.
I like the transformations from the newer movie cuz it makes the transformations less important and honestly doesn't make me get over stimulated when ever a transformer goes on screen
Ngl, I'm honestly glad I already found my 2 new favorite Transformers movies which are Rise of The Beasts and ONE, and I honsetly didn't care if they "G1 rehashes" or weren't as perfect as the Transformers fandom's precious Bumblebee (201* and 1986 movies (*I mean, Bee's still my fave but still.) because I still enjoyed them regardless if the other Transformers fans also honestly have a problem with me enjoying those 2 Transformers movies that they hate so much anyway. And also, the "Bayverse vs Knightverse" trend being just as annoying as the "Disney vs. Universal" trend is exactly why I was always a Unicron Trilogy,Beast Wars,Animated,RID 2001, and Rescue Bots fan to begin with, I would've said I didn't care for the 1986 and Bumblebee movies much but nah, the Travis Knight purists would all just think I'm a stupid and filthy Bayverse enjoyer if I did, even tho' that "Bayverse enjoyer" in me and myself parted ways when I already found my 2 new favorite Transformers movies, ROTB and ONE. Anyway, I'mma go back to thinking about how I'll be able to tend to enjoy both Sonic 3 and Mufasa without the Sonic fandom trying to force me to choose Sonic 3 over Mufasa again, Bye lol.
Honesty give the Michael bayes transformers more color and some change ups and theyd look excellent And as nice as the bumblee movie design look they look like good robots but kind of terrible transformers giving me more of a liquid transforming look from age of extinction drones
More color in Bayverse? You mean the reboot gives them more color cuz the Bayverse looked all grey and the Bumblebee designs don’t give them liquid look
I think less complex transformations is fine considering we've seen the complicated ones a lot at this point and making what should be a natural, everyday thing for Cybertronians a spectacle every time seems a bit much.
7:10 in reality both the Bayverse and reboot truck modes are based on american rigs, only the Bayverse ones (except the evasion mode from the fourth movie) he uses a conventional truck design with a bonnet and in the reboot movies Optimus turns into an older Freightliner cabover truck with a flat nose like he did in g1 I don't know if there's any truck mode for Prime that uses an european design, because most I can remember are based on american models, both cabovers and conventionals
Micheal Bay's transformer movies were the first piece of Transformer media I was exposed to, so when I saw the G1 designs, I saw more charm to them compared to Bay's designs. So when I saw Bumblebee, I prefer watching it a million times over Bay's movies solely because of how Bee looks.
Well I don't have any complaints about transformations in tf movies because my first transformers content I've watched is tfp and all of us know how transformations are quick in there 😂
The 2nd part of the video that talks about transformations, helped realize what I was questioning about what was odd about the newer films. The designs and all that were there, but the transformations, yeah that was the issue for me. Just wish it had the believability that the first 3 Bay films of transformation had.
I think what bay meant was that directly putting the g1 disigns would look dumb Which it will But the way the bumblebee movie did it looks awesome and nicer to look at than the bay design
American trucks had flat fronts also European grills are mostly harazotal. Prime was based on the freight liner brand; In both movie and animated version.
0:46 "the first time they're on the big screen" oh so you forgot 1986, I'll forgive you for that, wait a minute... YOU PROCEEDED TO USE A CLIP FROM 86!
I really like this video but saying the bay films moved the camera in tight shots around the transformations to show off their complexitiy, while the newer ones have tight shots to hide most of the transformation seems unfair. I guess theres often less shot varience and coverage but its the same shooting style

The old designs will always be awesome to me, but the more G1 looking live action designs are my favorite. They made them still look somewhat believable and made them all distinguishable. Even the slight changes in the ROTB designs still look great after now seeing them in 4k.
They should have just kept travis knight as the director for future films. Steven capble jr basically made the same movie again like the bay films.
Transformers 2007-2009 is masterpiece this people never realized how cool is the design it look realistic and looks complicated
I appreciate his ideas and creativity bayverse separate the branche of boxy transformers to another level so people won’t get bored
Thank you for this video ! I didn’t think you were ever gonna touch on Transformers ! ^^
still dont understand why Wheeljacks design was changed for Rise of the Beast while it was perfect in Bumblebee
9:31 okay so when the bay films do this, it’s to “show more detail”, but when the newer movies do it, it’s to hide the transformations/cgi?
"To help us tell tjem apart"
Dorito starscream: am i a joke to you?
Yes he is
Just gonna say it right now, the newer films are NOT tied to the bay films, despite what lorenzo says, the bee movie and rise of the beasts are a reboot.
Man Steven didn't do anything, the only G1 accurate designs in the Rotb movie are only previously established designs from the bumblebee movie...
I'd say he downgraded them ngl, optimus looked so strong and imponent in the bumblebee movie, and then we have rotb...
He didn’t have to rip megatron’s head off for no reason in the dotm, Megs had literally proposed a truce lmao
Bayverse optimus was a bit of a psycho, but that’s understandable when you’re in a war that has been going on for millions of years.
@@OogaBooga24723 But that’s no who Prime is
@@swiftstreak98 who’s to say what prime is? There can be different versions of characters that can act differently, I don’t see others saying armada Optimus isn’t Optimus because he’s different from G1 Optimus, so which is it?
@@OogaBooga24723 Prime’s isn’t a sadistic butcher is he?
@@swiftstreak98 how is he sadistic? How? 😂
Give me one example where he clearly enjoyed battle and or killing, where he smiled after murdering someone, please, enlighten me.
4:57 That is an amazing Optimus design, I wouldve loved to see it somewhere in media, be it movie or game.
Really loving your transformers videos ❤❤❤❤❤
Keep going 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I would say that this new team for Bumblebee and ROTB is still getting a handle on transforming, and I’m hoping that they’ll be a lot better in the next movie. Same with the writing.
However, Despite this was kinda cute, it lead to one of the WORST tropes in Modern Transformers Media, the Infamous EVERGREEN DESIGNS
*before John Warden came in table, We had projects like the Unicron Trilogy, the Aligned Continuity, the IDW comics, etc. Where the designs wete bastly different, to the point that sometimes Optimus had Red Eyes while Megatron Had Blue Eyes*
Unfurtunately since John Warner became Branding Manager we only have Monotone G1 Design Copy & Pasted in everywhere, It was cute at first but know is Tiring, & the worst part us that he's doing now the SAME thing with Power Rangers 😑
The part about the protoforms is untrue. Transformers have their own Cybertronian forms even in the Bayverse. (Comics)
The video that I hoped you would do. Bless you for this video to make my day better 🙏
ROTB is the uglification of Bumblebee movie though
Freightliner FLT is also an american truck, but as you said it's cabover unlike Michael Bay's Peterbilt and Western Star trucks which have are long-nose trucks
I prefer the Freightliner cabover semi truck
Yet they made them worse for ROTB, sadge
7:00 the silver look is just how the Cybertronians look when entering a planet. I assume they have distinct looks on Cybertron.
They don’t make it clear but Micheal Bay states that they all take on their “EndoSkeleton” form on Cybertron. Whether or not they have a distinct look on cybertron apart from their endoskeleton look is unknown to me. Maybe there’s a comic that explains it.
@@WarpingFist theres a comic that shows them in their protoforms on cybertron
howd we go from this to the newest one lol
I really enjoy your second transformers video!!!!😃
Thx
Your welcome.😉👍
And here I am, waiting for the Armada/Energon/Cybertron designs… 😔👉🏽👈🏽
Blitzwing and Wheeljack would like a word
Cybertronians have an organ that allows them to resize certain parts to a certain size for each transformation
A T-Cog?
I don't think these movies are connected to the Bayverse
The Bay movies and the new ones aren’t the same world
Idgaf
I loved Michael Bay's films bc they were my first introduction to Transformers
They do action well
Better than most hollywood movies
I recognize its shortcomings ofc
But i love them for what they did offer
They are not better than most Hollywood films 😂
I love bayformers too, it introduced me to the franchise, but they are not good movies, they are fun, but not well written, except 07 that one still holds up really well
Something i wanna add here is that bumblebee was meant to be prequel, but after the failure of the last knight they kind of changed some aspects to bumblebee that break ties with the bay films. Travis knight didnt really give a clear statement on whether its a prequel or a reboot, until rise of the beasts came out when caple jr now said its a reboot, twice.
Travis done a good job
I happen to like all the transformers films regardless of good or bad.
Michael Bay: “G1 designs would look stupid in real life.”
Proceeds to cover a semi truck in flame decals.
well original optimus was suppose to have red paint but something is wrong with the camera so they had to use flames instead
The Knightverse designs seem to take inspiration from also Transformers Prime and Cyberverse
I really like the simplified looks of these designs. the Bayverse designs feel a little too busy for me but that's my preferance
Rise of The Beast did raise the stakes and spectacle to a ridiculous degree, though. Fine film
Honesty give the Michael bayes transformers more color and some change ups and theyd look excellent
And as nice as the bumblee movie design look they look like good robots but kind of terrible transformers giving me more of a liquid transforming look from age of extinction drones
More color in Bayverse? You mean the reboot gives them more color cuz the Bayverse looked all grey and the Bumblebee designs don’t give them liquid look
More color what you mean???🤨
@@freeamericanthinker558 yeah the Bayverse didn’t have MORE color the Rebootverse HAS more color Bayverse is just grey and black
I think less complex transformations is fine considering we've seen the complicated ones a lot at this point and making what should be a natural, everyday thing for Cybertronians a spectacle every time seems a bit much.
Even as a guy who grew up with the Bay films, I have always perfer the g1 designs!
I still can't get over what they did to Wheeljack
He was already perfect on Bumblebee
Why change his appearance?
Since the Crisis Animated Trilogy is ending you could do some Vid about Crisis on Infinite Earths.
7:10 in reality both the Bayverse and reboot truck modes are based on american rigs, only the Bayverse ones (except the evasion mode from the fourth movie) he uses a conventional truck design with a bonnet and in the reboot movies Optimus turns into an older Freightliner cabover truck with a flat nose like he did in g1
I don't know if there's any truck mode for Prime that uses an european design, because most I can remember are based on american models, both cabovers and conventionals
Idc what anyone says I prefer the bay designs especially Optimus the 2007-2011 look is peak
Micheal Bay's transformer movies were the first piece of Transformer media I was exposed to, so when I saw the G1 designs, I saw more charm to them compared to Bay's designs. So when I saw Bumblebee, I prefer watching it a million times over Bay's movies solely because of how Bee looks.
i think michael bay learned as well, the fact that he produced both bumblebee and rotb
Michael Bay: G1 designs look stupid i want something more grounded.
Also Michael Bay: picks a yellow ambulance for Ratchet
That works
Yellow "military vehicle" passing as ambulance.
im glad he went with the yellow because it looks sick🔥
An yellowish green custom search and rescue ambulance which fits with ratchet as he is a medic.
And flames on a truck
They kept the designs of BB's and Prime's heads because those are genuinely good design, and an improvement over G1 in my opinion
I agree with Michael Bay 10000%
7:43 And then the transformation in age of extinction exists, it’s awful like why they did turn the ksi robots into Lego pieces?
The Cybertron scene was amazing i want a film like that. I'm fine with throwing out or ignoring Bayfomers. But Rise of the Beasts sucked.
Well I don't have any complaints about transformations in tf movies because my first transformers content I've watched is tfp and all of us know how transformations are quick in there 😂
Can you do a video on early development or unused concepts on Neon Genesis Evangelion
The 2nd part of the video that talks about transformations, helped realize what I was questioning about what was odd about the newer films. The designs and all that were there, but the transformations, yeah that was the issue for me. Just wish it had the believability that the first 3 Bay films of transformation had.
Tbh i like the Bay transformers more
2007*
Can you do a video on Invincible or The Boys?
I think what bay meant was that directly putting the g1 disigns would look dumb
Which it will
But the way the bumblebee movie did it looks awesome and nicer to look at than the bay design
Travis knight you have show how Michael bays version of the designs were garbage
I really like this video but saying the bay films moved the camera in tight shots around the transformations to show off their complexitiy, while the newer ones have tight shots to hide most of the transformation seems unfair. I guess theres often less shot varience and coverage but its the same shooting style
6:26 ( likely because they needed to keep continuity ) For the last time this is reboot not prequel
This was less certain during production
I think you're giving way too much credit to the ROTB movie. That said, the Beast Wars designs were perfect.
Only guy in the world who loves bayformers❤!
