I remember receiving a letter in the mail wanting to buy the small lawn business. It came in when I was at my lowest trying to fix the business. Glad I didn’t do it and kept pushing to solve one problem after another.
Totally off topic than the video. Can you do a video or answer it here about the hours to be open during busy time (spring rush) for lawn care - my business. How to justify the cost? Idk if it’s possible without seeing someone’s financials but I want to be open 8am to 8pm Monday - Saturday during spring rush next year and I’m trying to make sense of it. Currently open for calls 8am to 4pm. Want to know what you think of that idea and how to justify it? I also would love you to do some sort of coaching that maybe just is a zoom one on one that you can book when you could use it based on your availability. I know that’s easier said than done. Just a thought lol.
someday i'll make a video addressing this. it touches on a bigger topic. if you use a phone service that gives you a report look at your call volume - when you get calls and when call volume peaks. this is how you decide to staff. it might be you don't get many calls on saturdays because buyers don't think you will answer - you can advertise in your marketing 'we answer the phone on saturdays' or you can advertise 'text us' or 'we respond to texts' or 'text us for a quote'. there are lots of ways to do this. maybe you only staff to respond to text messages and email after hour because they can do it from home. during the spring rush its my belief you don't need a lot of data to know that answering the phone after hours and on saturdays will result in more work sold. why? because that is when the prospect wants to talk/transact. i know for a fact this strategy works. if a client is worth 2k/yr and they stay 4 yrs -- don't need to close many 8k deals on a saturday to justify staffing.
Thanks for all the great advice. It's great watching your videos. I get those letters and emails but have never called them to ask more info.
More great info!
